Convenient to North and South sides, 2 minute drive to Kapaa town and East side beaches. Super nicely decorated, high ceilings, cool and breezy trade winds, all green surroundings.

This place is beautiful! It is nicely decorated and I feel like the pictures don't do it justice. I stayed here for four nights and I loved it from the moment I walked in. It is on the same property where the owners live but I didn't see or hear them at all; we only briefly met one morning in the front yard when we were leaving for the day. Patricia was very pleasant and asked us if we need anything during our brief interaction. The place felt very private. All the windows face a beautiful garden right outside the house. The dining area has floor to ceiling windows. I really enjoyed my breakfasts with a view. It felt like there is no one else around.
All the rooms have ceiling fans with wall mounted switches and speed controls that are easy to operate. There is an AC in the bedroom but we never used it. The place seems to naturally stay cool enough, and fans did the job.
The kitchen has dishes and most things you would need. There is a fridge, microwave, and a toaster oven. The stove has only one burner so if you plan to do extensive cooking (really? aren't you planning to be here for a vacation?) you might want to keep that in mind. We mostly used it to boil water in the kettle (there was a kettle available, which I loved but it is pretty unusual).
The bathroom was stocked with towels, shampoo, and conditioner. There was a hair dryer available in the closet next to the bathroom.
One thing that I would keep in mind if you or someone you are traveling with has restricted mobility is that you have to walk down two flights of stairs to get to the place. It is not going to be a concern for most people though.
One last thing I wanted to share was that those wild Hawaiian roosters woke me up every morning. It is charming and probably unavoidable. By the third day I got used to it and found it somewhat pleasant.
I would highly recommend this place and will try to stay here again if I come back to Kauai.
My friend and I stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed Kauai and Patricia's apartment! This is a nice unit and much care was obvious. Location: Midway between many points of interest, variety of dining options within 5-10 min drive, quiet neighborhood. Apartment bedroom: spacious, very comfortable King size bed, window coverings with blackout shades (nice when sleeping in). There is a flat screen TV/DVD but we didn't use it. WiFi worked great. Apartment kitchen: Huge windows! Sink, full refrigerator, microwave, hotplate, toaster oven, tea kettle, variety of spices/condiments. Also, pots and pans are good quality. There is a grill outside that we didn't use. There is no coffee maker but there is a coffee press. We just drove 5 min to town and got coffee there (try Hemingway's café). Bathroom: Spacious and worked fine. Beach towels and chairs are available for use. It is in a natural setting. We didn't have any issues, but be aware that you might have to knock down some spider webs OUTSIDE the unit (they just pop up overnight). Also, you must navigate two flights of stairs to get to the unit; this could be an issue for some individuals.
Patricia was very easy to communicate with over email or texting. She even allowed us a late checkout since the next guest would not arrive until the next day. She provided detailed directions and instruction. Good experience.
The apartment is exactly as pictured....actually even better! It was clean, cozy, modern and had everything we needed. It was the perfect spot to explore both the south and north shores.
We had a delightful stay at this comfortable, spacious, immaculate and beautifully appointed space. The location was especially perfect for exploring the eastern/northern parts of Kauai. Patricia was a welcoming and helpful hostess. We highly recommend this accommodation and would love to return someday.
We really enjoyed our stay in Patricia's Tropical Apartement. It has everything you need and has a cool style. Kapa'a is great starting point for exploring the island.
We would be happy to come back sometime. Thanks a lot!
Patricia was a wonderful host! We enjoyed our stay at the Private Tropical Apartment. The apartment was well equipped and beautifully decorated, a very pleasant place to come and kick back after a day of fun! We did a great deal of hiking and found this to be a convenient location for exploring the island. We would definitely stay again with Patricia, she was quick to respond to any questions, she was eager to share ideas of places and activities to enjoy on the island. Thanks Patricia! Cheers!
We really loved staying at Patricia s house and we recommend it to everybody. As a matter if fact if we return we gonna stay at her place again. We liked the quietness, space and comfort ability. And to be quite honest also that she had netflix on the television. It is located in Kapaa which is very nice town and from which it is very easy to get anywhere. The house was clean spacious and at last but not at least the bed was great.
What a GREAT space to call home in Kauai. We were overjoyed when we arrived. The Avocado Hale is a cute apartment with just the right amount of amenities to make you feel at home while still allowing you to enjoying the beauty of Kapaa. The apartment is in an awesome location, just minutes inland from the north of Kapaa (you can walk to town if you want to), making it easy to jaunt up and down the island with ease. We did not meet Patricia, as she had just returned from South America, but enjoyed getting to Pierrette (a winter resident) very much.
Highly recommended. Can't wait to come back!
Private and spacious apartment that was pretty well equipped. We also appreciated the extra stuff such as snorkeling gear, beach chairs etc.
The apartment was fabulous and centrally located on the island. Their provision of an ice chest, beach chairs, and towels made it much easier to stay at the beach for as long as we desired.
We live on an extremely remote ranch, so we were unaccustomed to neighborhood noise (occasional sirens and roosters). If you are looking for peace and quiet, Kauai is probably not the destination for you because it seemed very populated and tourist centered.
