There is regular public busses between Manzanillo, Puerto Viejo and Cahuita. The most popular means of transportation in the area are bikes :) Bikes can be rented everywhere in the village for 5-7 USD per day.
I absolutely loved this listing! It was exactly what I expected - a quiet house in the jungle. We rented the whole house for three of us - three bathrooms, with three rooms upstairs and one downstairs. It is like most cabinas in the area - no A/C and nothing "fancy", just a good old-fashioned beach cabin. The area is super fun too - walking distance to a street full of shops, people, food, and a gorgeous beach. The waves here are pretty serious, so it isn't the casual swimming experience that you can get elsewhere. The bonus side is that you can watch all these amazing surfers kicking butt on the waves! Our hosts were amazing - so nice and sweet, and super helpful. Check in was smooth, and they made sure we had what we needed. I would totally stay here again.
It was 7 of us and we stayed in Jungle House for 2 nights. Peter and hotel stuff were extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived really late when the reception was already closed, but we had no problems with this since Peter allowed late check in. The house is perfect for a group of friends or family. Puerto Viejo is nice:)
We stayed 3 days in this very nice house near the beach in Puerto Viejo. Good and clean facilities, kitchen, and very friendly owners. Nice walks, great bird and animal watching and cycling to nearby beaches. We recommend to stay in this family house.
Peter's listing was exactly as described. It was a quiet, private, clean and basic. It had everything we needed for our 5 day stay in Puerto Viejo. Peter and his staff were very helpful and accommodated our needs :) We would definitely stay there again and plan to bring a larger group next time we come.
Peter was always helpful and up for a chat. We felt welcome and had a great time. He even last minute upgraded us to a small bungalow that we ended up having all to ourselves!
