  • We enjoyed ourself very much in B.'s Upper West Side apartment. While the place was cluttered (as New York apartments tend to be) and short on natural light, it was comfortable and quiet. The location is super, a few blocks from two subway lines and Central Park. We did not meet B., but Alan was helpful and very nice.

  • B. was pleasant and helpful both before and during our stay. She emailed us with useful suggestions of where to go and what to see. The description of the apartment was accurate (we were glad it is on the first floor); it is conveniently located on the Upper West Side, just 3 blocks from the subway, a 10-minute walk to Riverside Park, and a few blocks south of Columbia. It's a quiet, safe and walkable neighborhood at any time, day or night. Two French bakeries, Absolute Bagels (the best in NYC!), and numerous restaurants are very close by. While we were there, remodeling of the hallway was in progress, a very attractive transformation. Washer and dryer are downstairs; use with a refillable card. The apartment is well stocked with kitchenware, for those who like to cook (we didn't!). The bus terminal to La Guardia is 1 1/2 blocks away and you can use your subway card: a big saving on taxis. We recommend this apartment and B. as its host, and hope to return on our next trip to wonderful NYC.

    Response from B.:

Susan: great idea about a written orientation! I've been meaning to do that and will do so. I was able to get a bunch of tv shows, so I'll have to include that in the orientation sheet!

  • This was my first time using AirBnb, I stayed in New York for 9 days for New Year's Eve with my wife. Everything was perfect for check-in and check-out.
The apartment is very well located near to 3 subway lines and near to M60 bus to LGA airport.
The house is nice and we were comfortable even with a snow storm outside.
Bara has been very helpful during all the period we've been staying at her apartment, she quickly answered to all my questions.

  • This is my second stay at B's place. So convenient to my daughter's dorm at Columbia, convenient to subway, cafes, etc. I even made Christmas cookies this trip. A well-stocked kitchen, great bathroom and bed.

  • This is a fun and calm place - just a little far uptown - that is very accommodating and quite great for a single. Everything is there for you and you don't have any worries about needing to bring the necessities. It's plug and play at B.'s. I highly recommend it. Plus, there are 24-hour everythings here from Gristedes to two drugstores to Bodegas who deliver--right down the street. Tons of cabs and gypsy drivers to take you around town. There are two DVD players, a comfy couch--oh, and B, even has a VCR for people who miss those (and have a videocassette to throw in). Go for it!

  • B's flat is located in a great location and had everything we needed for our week long stay.

The apartment is quiet and cosy. Its very close to the subway and Central Park. There's also a great number of shops nearby.

The internet is fast, the place is clean and Alan was very friendly and helpful is helping us settle in. I would definitely stay here again and can happily recommend it.

  • Staying at Bara's place was easy and convenient. We were visiting our son at Columbia.
I had the best nights' sleep in NYC of my life. It was so quiet and very comfortable. The building is only 3 stories high and you can see the sunlight out the bedroom window!
Close to terrific bakeries and a great jazz club.
Although Bara was out of town, her friend Alan took care of meeting us at the start and the end of our visit.
    Thank you for your hospitality.

  • All in all our stay at B's place was great.
The apartment is small but does have two rooms so we had where to leave all our things. It's pretty dark so if you need a lot of air and light, this isn't the place for you. On the other hand, it's on the first floor so no long climb at the end of the day!
We loved being near central park. In terms of getting around, we didn't use buses at all but the subway isn't far- I'd say about a 10 minute walk.
Communication was pretty good. B was very friendly and helpful before we arrived and we found everything we need at the apartment.
