The Space

A 20th-century factory turned city oasis, experience the well-lived life in my carefully curated Atlanta home. Located on the city's Beltline (a pedestrian greenway) in the historic Old 4th Ward, you're one mile from the downtown core, a block from Inman Park, and more.

Relax in this city sanctuary and explore the Atlanta on foot. Enjoy terrace downtown views and strolls along the Beltline, unwind with yoga or mediation in a skylight practice room, cook a feast in a well-equipped kitchen, or take a dip in the pool. Busy professionals or a couple will enjoy the tranquil and inviting space I've made into a comfortable home.

Inspired by the desire to help others (email hidden), I listed my place for others to experience and learn how to make a place a home. Part social experiment and philanthropic endeavor, creating a lovely home, which in the English style I've named Coucou Home, is my passion. I look forward to sharing it with you.

Guest Access

I am sharing my house with you. I know some of you will be nosy, and that's fine, but please be respectful. In the bathroom, help yourself to the blowdryer and flat iron. There are also basic toiletries you are welcome to use. In the kitchen/living area, my alcohol is off limits unless I personally let you know otherwise. However, please feel free to use whatever condiments and kitchen basics you might need during your stay. Also any of the small appliances. You may also use the laundry room, but please be mindful that I try to keep an eco-friendly home and limit the washes as much as possible.

Interaction with Guests

My vision is a world that values home as the corner of our universe and a place to nurture and foster growth. Sharing my home was a project I started to raise funds for domestic violence and homeless shelters. I also write about the experience on my website and invite guests to share their experiences with me.

The Neighborhood

I love my neighborhood but spend most of my time outdoors on the city's Beltline, which connects the intown neighborhoods via more than 20 miles of trails around the city.

Be sure to eat breakfast or lunch or take a morning or afternoon coffee break at Parish, which is biking or walking distance on the Beltline.

If you like bocce, go across the street have dinner, then a round of the Italian game at Two Urban Licks.

Take a picnic to Piedmont Park. Stop at either Kroger, Whole Foods or Trader Joe's -- all on the Beltline -- then stroll on over to the park. Don't forget a blanket!

Getting around

Public transportation is not recommended, unfortunately.

From the airport, expect to pay a taxi $35 plus tip from curb to door.

Visitor parking and street parking is available. Guests should NEVER park in reserved spots, which are clearly identified. Towing is strictly enforced and I will not be held responsible if directions are not followed.

  • Outstanding place to stay! Love the loft and the (website hidden) experience you could ask for in urban Atlanta living.

Mary is a very responsive host and she keeps a wonderful home. It's a real privilege to stay there :)

  • MW's home is just as pictured. It is very uncluttered, comfortable and very convenient. We could exercise, go out to meet friends and get around the neighborhoods we like all by foot or bike on the Beltline and Greenway. I was impressed by how quiet it was. I didn't see many of the neighbors, but the ones I saw out walking their dogs were very friendly. The rooftop deck is a real treat. Our only wish would be some seating on the deck to relax and take in the beautiful views at night. Would definitely like to stay here again. Mary has a reading selection that makes me wish I read more. Unfortunately, I am afflicted with a hopelessly short attention span which precludes that from ever happening.

    Response from M W:

Thanks Jenny! Yes, I agree sitting on the deck will be nice and is my next house project. I had to wait until some repairs were completed with the decking, and well, with the summer it is actually too hot to be up there. So fall will be my next opportunity. Thanks for sharing!

  • We had a really lovely stay here while our house was being repainted (just 5 minutes away). It kept us close to work, school, soccer (for my 7 year old), and on top of being conveniently located, we loved the thoughtful design throughout.

Clean, straight forward instructions, everything was just as Mary outlined in her house manual. The community and surrounding neighborhood is amazing, which obviously goes without saying since we live here and love it!

  • I needed a space for my parents to visit us from Europe and Mary's space was just the best possible arrangement. The location was great as it was right in our neighborhood and very close by. My parents loved the space , the interior design , the cleanliness, the functionality and it's charm is irresistible. Everything worked perfectly without a hitch.
We will definitely book again with Mary! She (email hidden), very responsive and forthcoming - it feels like renting from her not only gained us a space to live for the time being but also a friend :) Thank you Mary!

  • Well what can we say....Mary's loft apartment is stunning, perfectly located on the beltline. The contempary accomodation perfectly suits its location, climb up to the forth story to enjoy a stunning view of downtown Atlanta, ( you must do this first thing in the morning and when it is dark! ).. We stayed for 2 weeks and really got to see some of the best bits of Atlanta. Located in Old Forth Ward, you can easily walk to Piedmont Park, Candler Park, Little Five Points and Inman Park to name but a few of Atlantas very understated mini villages, full of original shops and wonderful places to eat. Mary popped in to say Hi when she was briefly back in town between business trips. It was a pleasure to meet her, she (email hidden) and a genuinely lovely person. If you are in need of a perfect in town place to stay then look no further. with the benefit of being in a secure gated community, We think you would be pushed to (email hidden) to stay in this area of Atlanta, thank you M W!!

  • Mary and her home are absolutely lovely. She was communicative (even while she was flying!), and was committed to making sure everything ran smoothly. The apartment is in a great location, with safe parking and secure entry. While I found it a breeze to drive anywhere, I very much enjoyed staying in Mary's peaceful home, as it had ample space, relaxing and beautiful decor, and a well-equipped kitchen in which to cook and dine. I will certainly be back whenever I find myself in Atlanta again! Thank you, Mary!

  • I had a great experience staying at Mary's place. It is very spacious and open; quite beautiful inside! The unit is inside an old industrial building which has been converted into the cutest little residential community with fountains, pocket gardens, etc. Parking was very simple in a covered garage. It took 5-10 minutes to get almost anywhere in the city, it seemed, making the location very convenient. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a home away from home in the Atlanta area...thanks Mary!

  • I cannot recommend highly enough Mary's "chic urban sanctuary". A beautiful and large loft, Mary's home is so original. You will indeed know that you have entered a home where much thought and consideration went into the planning and decorating. The aesthetic of the home very much appealed to me and if you tend to enjoy open spaces with a minimalist approach - you will fall in love with Mary's home. The neighborhood was equally endearing and I thoroughly enjoyed the location in Atlanta more than any I've previously resided. I would highly encourage anyone seeking accommodations in Atlanta to stay here! Walkable, convenient, beautiful neighborhood. And Mary is a sweetheart to work with. Attentive and kind. Finally, the apartment is even more striking than the photos! Go see for yourself.

  • It's in the most perfect location, right next to the Atlanta Beltline, only minutes from Two Urban Licks. The linen factory turned apartment complex is the perfect place to zone out the fast paced Atlanta atmosphere, creating a great sanctuary to come home to. We absolutely adore the meditation room and balcony, which we have dubbed The Nook. Even though Mary was abroad for work, she kept in touch with us, making sure that we checked in ok, and that her friend and neighbor were available to help us if we needed anything. We felt at home, comfortable in this space, and look forward to staying here again in the future.

I live in downtown Atlanta in a place that was once factory, now restored into my corner of the universe. I'm a consultant and work internationally in the architecture and design industry. I love traveling (even the frustrating parts because it teaches me patience), yoga and writing. I'm also a writer for the Los Angeles Review of Books, Paste Magazine, and write the website Coucou Home. My vision is a world that values home as the corner of our universe and a place to nurture and foster growth. I donate 10% of your stay in my home to domestic violence and homeless shelters as part of my the DomestiCity Project, a way I've begun giving back and exploring the way home plays an invaluable role in our society.
