Getting around in Uppsala:
Most people in Uppsala gets around by bike. Luckily I have a basic one to lend you, I'll just need a deposit of SEK 1000 in case something happens, but if the bike is returned so is the deposit off course.
If you need more than one bike or a better model you can rent bikes in town for SEK 200 for the first day and then SEK 100/day.
Typically you will not need to use public transport, however if you wish to travel around outside central Uppsala it might be easiest to take the bus. The bus station "Kvarntorget" is a three minute walk away.
There is also a good supply of taxis should you need it.
Schedules and information about Uppsala public transit is available @ UL's website.
Getting to Stockholm:
It's easy to travel from Uppsala to Stockholm, many people commute every day. Several trains leave every hour, from 5 in the morning until 22 at night. The train ride is about 38 min. and will normally cost you SEK 84.
The trains stop at Stockholm central station. If you go by SL commuter train they also stop at many locations in Stockholm.
A taxi ride to or from Stockholm will set you back at least SEK 1200.

Had a nice time in Uppsala, Mattias and his girlfriend were very nice, helpful and accomodating.
The flat is small but clean and neat. Mattias had given me his room while he and his girlfriend slept in the living room...that's a sacrifice! Matti and Lisa are both lovely and helped me out when I found I'd left a critical piece of equipment at home. Lisa was able to lend me a spare so I could do an urgent job. That alone saved me quite a bit.
My mum rented Mattias apartment for one night. She said Mattias was very nice and caring, though they only had mailcontact. The room was nice and had a comfortable bed. She would defenitely recommend this host and room!
I had a wonderful stay in Uppsala @ Matthias' place. It's a nice apartment, close to the centre, in a nice neighbourhood. Matthias is a kind and well educated host, who made me really feel at home. And I could borrow his bike when i needed. In the end i think i'll surely contact him again if i go back to Uppsala.
i was in uppsala for a course in Akademiska sjukhuset and i enjoyed a lot. The city is pretty small and you can go almost everywhere walking.
The place was really nice, the bed was comfy and Mattias is a good guest.
I recommend this room a lot!
The apartment is located in a nice, quite neighborhood and just a 10 minutes walk away from the city center. The room is very cosy.
I think it is the best deal in town.
Mattias is a very nice guy. Communication is quick and very effective. I recommend staying with him.
About the Host, Mattias
I work as a web strategist here in Uppsala where I've lived for five years. Originally I'm from Göteborg but I've lived in Stockholm and Berlin as well. As a host it's important for me to make the guest feel welcome. I like to travel to european cities and warm places.
I'm fluent in English and Swedish and I also speak ein bischen deutsch :-) Feel free to ask me anything!
