About this listing
An apartment on the ground floor of a traditional stone villa in the medieval village of St Jeannet. Surrounded by a 2500mt garden of trees, flowers and fruits with parking and a 180 degree view of the Mediterranean coast, 20mins away from the beach.
The villa is composed by two independent apartments with separate access and privacy although the utilities room with washing machine is shared. Usually guests use the machine wash and empty so that if it is in use the other apartment will know that its available later that day. There are 2 laundry portable hangers and a fixed washing line in the garden.
We offer the downstairs apartment to a maximum of 4 guests. The apartment comes with a double bedroom, twin room, a lounge with a small (fully equipped) kitchen and 2 bathroom with shower (1 connected to the garage). There is an outdoor terrace with sun loungers as well as an outdoor dining table with the option to dine indoors if the weather is bad.
- WIFI is available throughout the property.
- The garden is periodically attended by our gardener twice a month but the new lawn which was planted in September unfortunately hasn't grown.
- English speaking caretaker with lots of hospitality experience here to help you check in and assist you with any questions.
All the gardens of the house are open to the guests apart from the upstairs apartment terrace and upper level gardens. We ask that our guests respect the privacy of other guests staying in the upstairs apartment and respect appropriate noise levels -
Interaction with Guests
I am available as a good communicator. The apartment above is also available to rent. We also have Marie who is the caretaker and available for any problems. Marie also checks in guests and shows them the apartment and checks them out too handing over the keys. Marie has great hospitality experience and speaks English, Spanish and French.
A little bit about the area...
The historical medieval village of Saint Jeannet is three hundreds and fifty meters above sea level. Built on the slopes of the Mountain Baou (a large granite outcrop very popular with rock climbers) with fantastic views of the coast, Saint Jeannet is located a few kilometers from the vibrant antique town of Vence and the popular tourist destination of Saint Paul de Vence. It is strategically located for a great vacation on the Cote d'Azur.
Saint Jeannet is fascinating as it still retains its mystical ,medieval aura yet it is untarnished by the tourist pack. With lots of things going on in the village especially in the Summer such as outdoor concerts in the square, great walks in the nature and rock climbing or just walking to the top of the Baou for the expansive view.
There is a biological market in the village on Sundays. Great gourmet food available at the local delicatessens with local wine and olive production of exceptional high biologically produced standards (try the sparkling rose champagne) as well as a great patisserie which is guaranteed to tempt!
Things to do:
-Take a trip to the Asian Art Museum in front of the Nice airport
- Drive down to Cap d'Antibes for a pleasant walk or visit the Villa Eprussi at Cap Ferret.
- Head to the beach of Isis at Eze.
Plus many more....
The location is also a great winter retreat with the mild Riviera climate with some well organized ski resorts such as Valberg and Isola Deuxmille an hours drive from the villa.
- 20 minutes by car from Nice airport.
- 20 mins by car to the beach
There are local buses available to reach the beaches or the local coastal train to access beaches further away or a day trip to Italy.
There is parking in our home. We have automatic gates to enter. There are buses to get around within walking distance and a bus to take you to the train station. From the train station there is easy quick access to Nice and all the beaches. I have caught the bus from the airport one time by walking to cap 3000 over the bridge and taking the bus to St Jeannet. Otherwise a car can be rented from the airport or Marie is available for 60 euro to do a convenient pickup at a reasonable time.
Other Things to Note
We do supply bed linen and towels, tea towels and basic necessities. There will be dish washing liquid, washing powder and softener to do any laundry. Plus mosquito repellent and anti mosquito machines in case you need them, although we have sprayed in August. Please make sure that they are replaced when empty for our next guest.
This is a no smoking house but feel free to smoke outside - just make sure that the buts are thrown away in the bin. No pets please.
We spent 4 great days in 'La Desirade' and had a great time! We loved the old village of Saint Jeannet, as it was very charming, but a lot less touristy than other similar villages. We had a great walk up to the baou and nice meals in the restaurants of Saint Jeannet.
In our naivety we expected to arrive in a village in a quiet countryside, but as many already know, this part of Provence is densely populated, and you can´t expect full silence when sitting on the veranda. However we quickly got used to the distant sounds of cars and building workand loved our moments on the veranda. The view is trulybeautiful and the garden lovely. The interior of the apartment is basic, but it had everything we needed. We had a late arrival and was met by Antonio at 11 pm who gave us good information about the apartment, and we were allowed a late check out without any problem. Would definitely go back!
Great place in a beautiful village, close to supermarket and restaurants. Fab views from terrace. Simple decor but comfortable and suited family of 4 adults. Check in was great, we were met by Antonio who was very friendly and gave details about the house and location. Great spot for a week!
Beautiful location with a stunning view. We loved it. Easy communication and friendly and helpful house manager. Thank you!
As the site says the villa is beautifull as its view on the lower part is. As well as the garden with all the nice flowers and lemon trees.
And especially to walk down the road to the bakery with all their nice products. And there are so many nice spots in the surroundings(Saint Paul du Vence) to go to.
Antonio was really great and friendly!

We have been met by house keeper Antonio. He is a very nice guy, showed us premises, told us where to go and what to see and was very polite and pleasant. Thanks, Antonio, for all your tips. The house is very beautiful Provence villa. It's bit old inside, but it makes staying even more genuine. The view from the balcony is the thing you will remember in cold winter days. The house is located beyond St. Jeannet village with is a gem on it's own, with great restaurants, streets and views. Also if you like outdoors more then city buzz, there is great hiking trails around St. Jeannet. The only thing that went bad is, that we didn't stayed here longer. Wont repeat same mistake next time.
This was our second stay and it was as delightful as the first. We were happy to be back. Maria and Antonio were very helpful as always. The views, the terrace where we ate dinner, the quiet location were all great. We are thinking of a longer stay in the near future. Highly recommended.
Driving up the Sue's place in St. Jeannette was like a dream!
It is like a little "Garden of Eden".
Marie & Antonio were right there with everything I needed too.
Would not hesitate at all to recommend is spot.
Thank you "Team Sue"
