An apartment on the ground floor of a traditional stone villa in the medieval village of St Jeannet. Surrounded by a 2500mt garden of trees, flowers and fruits with parking and a 180 degree view of the Mediterranean coast, 20mins away from the beach.
The villa is composed by two independent apartments with separate access and privacy.
Because we had a couple of complaints on old amenities we decided to pass the month of August 2014 renovating the apartment and buying new amenities. The outside facade & bathroom were painted. We installed a brand new fridge, washing machine, dishwasher and combination oven/grill/microwave. New lights for the kitchen and new covers for the settee. We took away alot of unused items and books to create a more zen space. We bought new sheets and towels for the Bedrooms. The bed and bed settee were new last year. We also bought new parasols and covers for the loungers. We decided to close the studio and offer the apartment to only a max of 4 guests as we had large groups last year and our kitchen is quite small - see the picture. However there is a comfortable, luminous lounge with indoor dining if the weather is bad. An outdoor terrace with outdoor dining, a double bedroom with a twin bedroom and 2 toilets.
- WIFI is available.throughout the whole property and we closed the services on the satellite as we discovered some guests had been ordering films without paying for them!
The garden is periodically attended by our gardener. Twice a month and he is planting a new lawn in September.
A comfortable place to stay with a new caretaker having lots of hospitality experience living close by, speaking English and taking care of the apartment.
The historical medieval village of Saint Jeannet is three hundreds and fifty meters above the sea level. Built on the slopes of the Mountain Baou (a large granite outcrop very popular with rock climbers) with fantastic views of the coast. A few kilometers from the vibrant antique town of Vence and the popular tourist destination of Saint Paul de Vence. It is strategically located for a great vacation on the Cote d'Azur.
- 20 mins by car to the Beach or local buses available to reach the beaches or the local coastal train to access beaches further away or a day trip to Italy.
- great gourmet food available at the local delicatessens in the village with local wine and olive production of exceptional high biologically produced standards ( try the sparkling rose champagne !!! )- who needs to go anywhere really, just chill out in the garden!
- Interesting local and international community of residents.
The location is also a great winter retreat with the mild Riviera climate and some extremely well organized ski resorts like Valberg and Isola Deuxmille, one hour drive from the villa.
Take a trip to the Asian Art Museum infront of the Airport
- walk around Cap d'Antibes or visit the Villa Eprussi at Cap Ferret, or head to the beach of Isis at Eze - endless things to do as st Jeannet is fascinating as it still retains its mystical ,medieval aura yet is untarnished by the tourist pack - lots of things going on in the village especially in the Summer - outdoor concerts in the square - check out the website - - great walks in the nature
- organized for rock climbing or just walking to the top of the Baou for the expansive view - Biological Market in St Jeannet on Sundays - great patisserie which is guaranteed to tempt !
All the grounds. Of the house are open to access including an additional covered terrace on the top floor apartment.
Interaction with Guests
I am available as a good communicator. We stay in the apartment above. We also have Marie who is the caretaker and available for any problems. Marie also checks in guests and shows them the apartment and checks them out too handing over keys.Marie has great hospitality experience and speaks English, Spanish and french.
I love to relax at the apartment. This summer during August my family stayed in the apartment and we had some great dinners outside. We also worked up the Baou, had countless walks into the village and surrounding pathways and went to the beach - I like Eze and cap'ai. The air is clean and the living is healthy.
There is parking in our home. We have automatic gates to enter. There are buses to get around within walking distance and a bus to take you to the train station. From the train station there is easy quick access to Nice and all the beaches. I have caught the bus from the airport one time by walking to cap 3000 over the bridge and taking the bus to st jeannet. Or a car canbe rented from the airport or Marie is available for 60 euro to do a convenient pickup at a reasonable time.
Other Things to Note
We do supply bed linen and towels, tea towels and basic necessities. There will be dish washing liquid, washing powder and softener, soap . Plus mosquito repellent. And anti mosquito machines in case you need them. although we have sprayed in August. Pls make sure that they are replaced when empty for our next guest.
This is a no smoking house but feel free to smoke outside - just make sure that the buts are thrown away in the (website hidden) pets pls.
Sue's garden villa was an inviting beautiful place to stay. The views from the patio were outstanding. Having an entrance to the trail to the charming city up the hill made for a relaxing afternoon. Daniel, the house manager, was very gracious and clear about keys, access, and the details. I would stay again.
We are very happy that you enjoyed your holiday and sorry that we couldn't settle you in personally . However Daniel and Marie are just great managers and have a keen hospitality touch and we know that our guests are in safe hands. You really couldn't wish for nicer people. Looking forward to having you back soon , kindest regards, sue
We had a fantastic time. The apartment was perfect, cosy and full of charm. Even though it rained the first night we dined in and it was very romantic. The following day the sun came out and we went for a stroll in st. Jeanette and checked out some walking in the area. Actually we didn't plan to venture far as the place was really comfortable. We bought delicacies from the delis in St. Jeannette and some wine from the local vineyard and we chilled out in the beautiful garden.
Sue was very helpful and communicative. She also left a welcome file and Daniel was there to meet us. Everything was well organized and clean. There was a even a bunch of fresh flowers to greet us which I loved.
We would strongly recommend Sue's villa and plan to come back soon cause we work really hard in the city in London and it was a great, relaxing break!
My experience with Sue (the host) was great. No issue with communication. The house is in a very cute town of St. Jeannet, in walking distance to a village with nice restaurants. The apt is in a ground level of the house. The decor is a bit dated for us but some may find it shabby chic. The garden is lovely with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. We had issue with Mosquitos during our stay so I'd recommend bringing bug spray or mosquito repellent.
Thanks Alxy for your positive helpful comments. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay in St Jeannet and we have already organised to spray the garden regularly and provide mosquito repellent to our guests. We are arriving in August and have already planned during our stay to upgrade the utilities eg . fridge, dishwasher etc (website hidden) all in all for the price point its a great offer for a family looking to pass a vacation on the Cote d'Azur. But we cannot cater to larger numbers - such as previous guests who were disappointed as they stretched our resources to the maximum with their numbers - including our bed settee!!!!!!!!!! Our Kitchen facility just cannot manage that and in the winter when it rains alot our interior dining table can only really manage 4 comfortably. But in summer and spring our outdoor living terrace with dining allows more space, kindest regards sue
Inne i huset var standarden enkel, men all enklare matlagning fungerade utmärkt.
Dear Jacob , glad to hear you enjoyed your stay - it really is a beautiful special place. We are now preparing to return in August and buy all new utilities and renovate the kitchen - I will take into consideration your useful comments eg. regarding the dvd etc etc - to remove them but my husband is insistent to keep them !!!! However I will take a fresh look and get rid of things. Certainly we are buying a new fridge, cooker and washing machine. A new dishwasher has already been installed. For the price point per night it will great. However I do not want guests who can afford and need 5 star and choose us for the bargain as they are really too much trouble. Plus we do not want guests who inform us they are arriving in 2 and 5 arrive on the door step as in the case of Ann. Our home can cater comfortably for 4 as the kitchen is quite small and I'm going to change that info on the site . The studio room with separate bathroom will remain just that - a studio ! Infact when I arrive in August I'm going to publish a picture of the kitchen too to give our guests a better idea. - thanks again for the useful advice , kindest regards,
The internet access did not work so we could not complain to airbnb within the time limit of 24 hours. For sleeping we moved into a hotel because of the strong musty odor from the locked cupboards in the bedroom. So it was a very expensive stay. The description by Ann (April 2014) is perfectly accurate.
The friendly and helpful manager of the apartment was no support because of the bad condition of the apartment.
Dear Heinz, I wish you could have communicated with Angie - our house manager and cleaner as we are overseas. I'm 100% sure she would have acted immediately regarding the internet and musty smell. Actually this is obviously a problem that needs immediate action as our current guest has complained about the musty odour too. I'm sorry that you did not raise this with Angie - she is also surprised by that as she was available to act and she is onto the problem as we speak - In all fairness apart from the sudden musty smell the apartment has been enjoyed by many. I feel the price is a fair offer for those looking for a " maison d'charactere " in a medieval village. it is made of the rock of the mountain and it is not a modern new design. We will solve the problems that have emerged eg. musty smell - we will post additional pictures of the small kitchen so that guests get a further insight into the apartment. Having said so this is a ' maison d'charactere " and many of our guests have appreciated this enormously as its difficult to find these days. we will return in August and renovate eg. painting and buying a new dishwasher, washing machine as with the constant use these amenities do get worn but the kitchen will stay the same size. This appartment has been comfortable for us and others many many years. Next time pls communicate with the staff to help us all to improve. Unfortunately the next guest has received the same musty smell which is something that could have been avoided - kindest regards sue
We enjoyed our stay at this villa. Angie was so kind and helpful. It was relaxing and beautiful. Thank you!
