The Space

1 night stays can be arranged! Just send me a note!~
This shingled cute cabin is ten steps from the back door of our 1898 Mt Tabor farmhouse, The room has a bed nook and living room area.. couch is a sofa bed... there is small armoire closet, decorated with items from my vintage Etsy store the space is fun-ctional and a great place to kick up your feet up while visiting Portland. If you need to get some work done you will have plenty of peace and quiet. The space has a heater and ac can be arranged if you need it. Great for a romantic getaway in the city, privacy and convenience...
Lovely brand new queen size memory foam mattress with all new bedding, warm comforter and extra wool blankets if you need it.. The is a small table for working or eating... plenty of room to relax.

We have a fire pit and lots of chairs around the backyard.

While staying with us you will share our bathroom and kitchen via the outdoor "hallway", a short 8 steps into the back of the house though the laundry room.. Our kitchen has most everything you might need!..

Guest Access

You can share the bathroom and fully equipped (no microwave!) kitchen with us. Access to the kitchen and bath are 24 hours a day. Our bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house so you don't need to worry about disturbing anyone coming and going at odd hours. If you need to park in the driveway that can be arranged. We have wifi in the house (it might work in the cabin) The backyard has small fire pit for relaxing night fires. We also have a washer and dryer.

Interaction with Guests

My roommate and I are busy folks you may not see to much of us at all! Often there are sweet children running around that we take care of! We are happy to answer any questions about staying in Portland. Love to have a cup of coffee with you in the sunny back yard or on our more typical grey days the kitchen!

The Neighborhood

In the thriving and growing Montavilla neighborhood is one of Portland's undiscovered gems. The cabin is 4 blocks from the great Bipartisan Coffee shop (get the cream pie!) The Academy theater ($4 movies) there are number of great bars and some great restaurants (The Country Cat, Tanuki, The Observatory) We have vintage, antique and gift shops a Pizzeria, barber, international grocery store and so much more.. if you like Vietnamese food you are in for a treat! Nearby we have large chain grocery and department stores.. Our closest city park is a real volcano Mt Tabor city park offers beautiful views of the city to the west and Mt hood to the east.. Great spot for sunset viewing and morning walks.

This is Portland! Nothing you need is too far away! We are close to the highway so trips surrounding areas easy! I can send you on day trips to the Gorge, Mt Hood, hot springs, hiking, antiquing, the coast and more.

Getting around

We are close to many major bus lines (the 20, 15, 70 and as well as the max)) if you go to Tri Met's website it can help you plan any journey in town! And, of course you know Portland is the most bike friendly town in the country - I might have one or 2 you can borrow!! Walking is also a lovely way to check out the town! Street parking is plentiful and we do have a driveway upon request! The MAX or a taxi is the easiest way to get here from the Airport. A pick up may be possible for $15 fee

Other Things to Note

Though we live in the city we like to live like country folk, we have a garden, we compost, recycle, hang our clothes on the line and leave the windows open. They backyard is a busy place for all kinds of birds, squirrels , some curious cats, and the occasional masked bandit (not human of course - Raccoon!)

You might want to bring your slippers if luggage allows! This will make for quick comfy trips from the cabin to the facilities!

  • This cute little cabin was a perfect place to rest our tired heads during an adventure-filled trip to Portland. As other reviewers have mentioned, the bed was SUPER comfortable. And though the bathroom was inside in the main house, it was always quick & easy to access. We had a rental car, so had no problems with the location. Oh, we also got our own private fireworks show on July 4 in her backyard hammock thanks to some of her neighbors. Thanks, Rebecca! <3

  • The backyard cottage was EXACTLY what we expected. It was cute and quaint in a nice little residential neighborhood. We were within walking distance to some cute/delicious restaurants and Mt. Tabor. Everything we needed was provided; a full kitchen, bathroom and plenty of room outside for my boys to get their wiggles out. They had a super fun time riding bikes and scooters up and down the street. The cottage was super adorable, the bed was comfortable and my boys slept just fine on the sofa bed. If we visit Portland again, we know where we'll be staying!

  • Where to start. I found this airbnb on a whim and was in love at first sight. I am a huge fan of cabins and staying outdoors - having serenity and a place that feels like "home." This was a backyard cabin - even better. An instagrammer's dream as we called it. Rebecca was very sweet, she was gardening when we arrived, showed us around and was all about us taking photos. I am a photographer and was almost immediately taking photographs as soon as we got there. The Southwest vibe really struck a cord. I loved everything about this place, it was quaint, cozy and had an amazing backyard with a hammock, a garden and a lot of knick knacks that made for amazing photos; very rustic and the perfect size.

Rebecca was so accommodating. You must stay here!

  • Rebecca was great! The cabin is awesome and clean, great quiet neighborhood, and her cat Ghost is a great welcoming committee. Highly recommended

  • Rebecca was a great host! She met me at the little cabin and showed me all of the amenities. I didn't get to interact with her much because I was out and about enjoying Portland so much.

The little cabin is adorable, well-appointed and comfortable. The bed is something else-- I was uber-comfortable. The cabin also had a couch and table and chairs. Although the bathroom with inside the house, it was only 10 feet away. The cabin was quiet and restful.

If it's your first time to Portland, the cabin is in the Montavilla neighborhood. It's an ok neighborhood, but there's not much happening and you'll end up bussing or driving quite a bit. Several blocks away is Stark street where there are a few restaurants/shops/bars, but the more interesting dining and drinking is farther afield.

  • The backyard cabin was such a nice place to stay while we were in Portland. So comfortable and felt like staying at a friends house. The sitting area outside was a nice spot for sipping our coffee in the morning and winding down before bed. Quiet peaceful area, and Rebecca was a very kind host, and her cat Ghost was quite the lover boy and helped us get our daily cat loving (we were missing out own kitties at home). I surely recommend this charming backyard retreat for anything staying in the area, and we will be back in the future!

  • Truly a superb, well appointed, private abode with easy access to the city. A little home behind the home. Rebecca was very responsive. If given more time I would have liked to enjoy the relaxing backyard. Could easily spend a day in here reading or writing. Then taking a peaceful walk to Mt. Tabor and the neighborhood.

  • Have you woken up recently with the sun dappling in through the window and a soft breeze caressing your face? Has that happened in a small cabin? Has it happened in a magical backyard cabin? No? get over to Rebecca's backyard wonderland and experience the perfect little spot to stay for the weekend. She had us set up with all the necessary items for the weekend and even invited us to her BBQ with her friends. Her house was warm and charming and she was hospitable and kind. It was in the perfect neighbourhood that was close enough to everything but in the quietest spot. Thank you so much Rebecca for a wonderful place to stay!
