Glamping at its Best!
Situated in my private backyard off a country road, "Ms Amelia" is a 1975 Airstream Trailer. She is a graceful dame who has been thoroughly updated and refurbished. At 30 feet long, there is ample space. She provides a private bedroom with a queen size bed on a raised platform. The bathroom has a toilet, basin, a travertine floor and a cozy aromatic cedar-paneled shower. There is a large (well, large for a trailer!) closet to store your suitcase and clothes. In the living area, there is a marbled-topped kitchen counter, small refrigerator, air conditioner/heater and coffee maker. There is a small couch/futon and chair. New bamboo floors throughout. Drinking water is provided in a cistern. This trailer is probably best for people 6 feet or under. Though I was told that those over 6 feet will usually know how to duck around the lights!
Please note that Ms Amelia has a camping aspect to her. She is not a hotel room but is a charming trailer with all that that would imply, and is certainly gloried camping!
Outside is a table and chairs and garden area for relaxing. Park in my driveway. There is also an outdoor shower with hot and cold water in my very private backyard. Wifi is available for your laptop or notebook.
"Ms Amelia" is on a private country road, quiet and secluded, and my yard is a certified Wildlife Habitat. I feed the birds and have a lovely garden. At night you may hear the owls hooting or the buoys sounding on the water. Keep a lookout for the hummingbirds that feed outside the door.
Pets, smoking, drugs are not allowed. Polite, reasonable behavior is expected. Quiet time is from 11 pm to 7 am. There is a 2 night minimum during the weekends, one night during the week (Sunday through Thursday). Ms Amelia is not available to rent in the colder months - Dec. 1 though March 31.
In the morning I will provide coffee or tea, fresh baked muffins or scones, fresh fruit and juice. Should you wish, I can provide a delicious dinner (vegetarian or fish) with wine for an additional $20 per person.
The Borough of Stonington, chartered in 1651, is a beautiful and historic seaside village that is a couple of miles away. It has great restaurants, bars, shops and art galleries. Mystic is about 5 miles down the road, with shopping, coffee shops, bookstore, restaurants, Amtrak station, and bars. Mystic Seaport and Aquarium are about 5 miles away. There are opportunities for hiking, kayaking, biking, boating and exploring the shoreline. Watch Hill and the beautiful Rhode Island beaches are 20 minutes away. A wonderful vineyard with wine tasting is just down the road.

While my husband prefers camping, I prefer glamping. So when I came across Ms. Amelia on airbnb, I quickly booked it for the weekend of Nov.14-16. It was a surprise for my husband and he loved it! We both did! When we arrived on the cold Friday night, Ms. Amelia was warm and toasty, courtesy of Laurie-Annya who had the space heater going since that morning! The host, Lauria-Annya was there to greet us, and the next morning, after a great night's rest under a warm duvet and electric blanket, we breakfasted on fresh fruit, yummy scones and hot coffee in her lovely kitchen. We spent the day in Stonington, visiting shops and having beers at Beer'd at the Velet Mill( an old factory now home to local artists and farmers), a place Laurie-Annya recommended we visit. The evening we spent with Ms. Amelia, pizza and a bottle of wine. Ms. Amelia is so charming and cozy, and we can't wait to go back.
Spending a weekend in an airstream was a truly unique experience, enriched by the artistically inspired furnishings, and made all the more wonderful by the surrounding mature plantings rich with bird and other wildlife. It was romantic to sleep in and watch the birds through the window and glorious to walk the grounds sipping coffee and enjoying the best scones ever. Laurie-Annya and her husband, both still sporting that newlywed glow, gave us a fantastic weekend and memory we'll treasure forever. Airstream camping is cool indeed, a calm and much needed rest from city life and, in this case, within striking distance of both Mystic, CT and Newport, RI. A very special, rustic and romantic getaway.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Miss amelia. Gorgeous gardens and peaceful setting. The breakast that Laurie-Annya prepared was among the best we have ever had. Our only discomforts were that we did not sleep well on the mattress and wished we would have had an air mattress instead, we like a little more privacy and we both got turned off by using a marine toilet for more than a day. Altogether a great vacation in a great location. The hosts were completely hospitable and we would definitely recommend staying there for the unique experience. THANK YOU TO THE NEWLYWEDS!
We had a lovely stay at Laurie-Annya's. She and her fiancé were incredibly friendly and helpful, and very patient when we needed help. The airstream is extremely cozy and cute! Loved the bedroom, it felt like sleeping outdoors without the bug bites! She also made us delicious breakfasts each morning and brought them out to us so we could enjoy eating in the garden. Very thoughtful. Highly recommended!
We loved our stay at Laurie-Annya's trailer in Stonington. Unlike your traditional hotel lodgings, her refurbished trailer provided a very private and cozy cocoon to relax in. We also enjoyed her morning scones while watching the hummingbirds right outside our window. We would definitely stay there again.
Laurie-Annya was a lovely host - and clearly excited to share the adventure that her refurbished Airstream offers parked in her lush backyard. Peaceful and very comfortable. LOVED the platform bed and adored the outdoor shower under a Super Moon! (Great option to offer guests!) Laurie-Annya was very sweet to check in on my weekend schedule to coordinate a lovely light breakfast of homemade scones and breads and freshly prepared fruits. Perfect little haven, close to so many things in the area -- I wouldn't hesitate to stay again if the opportunity arose.
Laurie-Annya is a great host. Unfortunately I got sick the day we were supposed to leave to stay in her adorable trailer. Luckily, she is flexible and sweet, and let my parents take the reservation for the weekend, so it didn't go un-used. My parents had a lovely time, and I cannot wait to go after they told me how great it was, and great Laurie-Annya is!!!

I am orginally from California, but moved to Connecticut 20 years ago. I love to travel. I love to stay home and meet new and interesting people. I have two businesses, one helping (mostly seniors) with organization, downsizing and computers. The other business entails making products from recycled and repurposed materials which I sell at craft shows. I also sell vintage items and linens (many from my travels around France). I love to read, garden, cook, laugh, travel to France. My motto is "Live Creatively."
