Glamping at its Best!
Situated in my private backyard off a country road, "Ms Amelia" is a 1975 Airstream Trailer. She is a graceful dame who has been thoroughly updated and refurbished. At 30 feet long, there is ample space. She provides a private bedroom with a queen size bed on a raised platform. The bathroom has a toilet, basin, a travertine floor and a cozy aromatic cedar-paneled shower. There is a large (well, large for a trailer!) closet to store your suitcase and clothes. In the living area, there is a marbled-topped kitchen counter, small refrigerator, air conditioner/heater and coffee maker. There is a small couch/futon and chair. New bamboo floors throughout. Drinking water is provided in counter a cistern. This trailer is probably best for people 6 feet or under. Though I was told that those over 6 feet will usually know how to duck around the lights!
Outside is a table and chairs and garden area for relaxing. Park in my driveway, There is also an outdoor shower with hot and cold water in my very private backyard. Wifi is available for your laptop or notebook.
"Ms Amelia" is on a private country road, quiet and secluded, and my yard is a certified Wildlife Habitat. I feed the birds and have a lovely garden. At night you may hear the owls hooting or the buoys sounding on the water. Keep a lookout for the hummingbirds that feed outside the door.
Pets, smoking, drugs are not allowed. Polite, reasonable behavior is expected. Quiet time is from 11 pm to 7 am. There is a 2 night minimum during the weekends, one night during the week (Sunday through Thursday). Ms Amelia is not available to rent in the colder months - Dec. 1 though March 31.
In the morning I will provide coffee or tea, fresh baked muffins or scones, fresh fruit and juice. Should you wish, I can provide a delicious dinner (vegetarian or fish) with wine for an additional $20 per person.
The Borough of Stonington, chartered in 1651, is a beautiful and historic seaside village that is a couple of miles away. It has great restaurants, bars, shops and art galleries. Mystic is about 5 miles down the road, with shopping, coffee shops, bookstore, restaurants, Amtrak station, and bars. Mystic Seaport and Aquarium are about 5 miles away. There are opportunities for hiking, kayaking, biking, boating and exploring the shoreline. Watch Hill and the beautiful Rhode Island beaches are 20 minutes away. A wonderful vineyard with wine tasting is just down the road.
Before booking, I would appreciate you setting up an AirBnB profile. Or send a message - I would like to get to know you a bit and be sure that this is a good fit.
I also have a room available in my house called The Wren's Nest, at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/307394
I look forward to hosting you!
we had a delightful time and Laurie-Annya was a delightful hostess! Breakfast every morning was delicious and she was so accommodating! Thank you for the wonderful stay!
What a wonderful time we had with Miz Amelia! It was a true glamping experience, falling asleep to crickets and waking up to chirping birds. The outdoor shower was amazing! Hot water, cool air, and watching birds at the feeder made me feel like Snow White. Laurie-Annya was a warm and friendly host without being intrusive, and had delicious breakfasts for us both days. If you really love a unique camping-like experience, Miz Amelia is a great place to stay! We would definitely return. Thank you again!
Laurie-Annya has created a very cozy and attractive setting with her Airstream trailer. Anyone who is an aficionado of Airstreams and wants to experience one, without paying for the gas!, will find this to be an inviting experience. Also, don't miss out on the home made scones and the great yogurt.
We had such a great weekend staying at Laurie-Annya's trailer! The inside is totally refurbished while the outside still maintains that vintage 70's charm. The trailer is small, but big enough to accomodate me and my 6-ft boyfriend comfortably for the weekend. We were out and about during the day, but never felt cramped at the trailer, especially since there is a nice patio area outside to relax with a glass of wine or eat breakfast in the mornings. Laurie-Annya is super warm and welcoming and served us fresh scones, fruit and juice in the mornings. What better way to start the day! The beaches nearby in Watch Hill are beautiful and only a short drive away. We definitely would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet but certainly unique weekend experience!
