A spacious timber framed barn sitting at the wood's edge, furnished with hand-made farm-style furniture. Designed for the artisan, the second story windows allow generous amounts of natural light to flood the entire space. A full kitchen downstairs transitions into a living area. The second floor holds a double bed, bathroom, and TV room in an open studio design, with a balcony overlooking the kitchen and living room.

The space

Check-out 11 AM
The barn was made from wood cut and milled on the property. The ground floor is open with a kitchen area equipped with a stove, microwave, small fridge, toaster oven and coffee maker, the dining, and informal living room. Upstairs is the bedroom area, full bath, and TV area. *Note: this structure is in a semi-rural area. Insects (wasps) and critters may make their way in despite our efforts. If you are allergic or sensitive, then please look elsewhere. Your comfort is important to us. Heating the barn is very expensive. Guests are asked to use heat frugally.

Where you’ll be

Stanardsville, Virginia, United States

Mulberry Spring is a historic Virginia property dating back to the 1750s. It was built by William Monroe, a successful landowner and benefactor of public education in Greene County. This 15 acre property located in a mountainside neighborhood hosts pre-civil war structures, a variety of fruit trees, and authentic stacked rock walls.
Nearest towns for shopping are Standardsville (15 min. drive) or Ruckersville (20 min. drive). Both towns host a variety of antique shops. Charlottesville is about a half hours drive and is chock full of fine restaurants, shops, and entertainment opportunities.
History buffs will enjoy visiting the three presidents' homes nearby: Ashlawn, home to Monroe (30 miles/50 min.), Monticello, home to Jefferson (28 miles/30 min.) and Montpelier, home to Madison (22 miles/26 min.). Guests will also enjoy visiting the many wineries in the surrounding area.
