We had a lovely stay at Katherine and Ryan's home. The house was clean and tastefully decorated. The two bed&bath are a big plus if you are looking for privacy the area is nice and quiet. I definitely recommend. Thanks!
The pictures do not do this property justice. Simple on the outside and warm and inviting on the inside - very well appointed, clean with great design. Welcomed with bag of coffee and snacks. Proximity to the metro could not be beat - walking distance to the metro stop made getting downtown during SXSW perfect. The backyard lights made sitting outside at night great.
The downside - made arrangements to have my buddy pick up the key and host was late so given the tight turnaround my buddy had to leave (would've been nice to have host been there before - especially given the premium we were paying) - nonetheless we made it work since my arrival was going to be very late. Water heater stopped working suddenly so two days no hot water - it got corrected (these things happen). The biggest downside was as attractive as this place is it's clear that a fulltime indoor dog lives there and when you walk in you are overwhelmed with the thick smell of indoor dog. Likely is that hosts don't notice since they live there full-time. The back (master bedroom) and bath is the worst with dirtier wall to wall carpet and despite professional cleaning dog hair and dander still noticed on comforter. The back bathroom less appealing than the full bath in the center of house.
Overall nice property and nice hosts - the downside this would be a difficult place for anyone with pet allergies. If it wasn't for pet smell and back bedroom/bathroom; this would be a 4+ star rating.
I had no idea you were so displeased with your stay here. We do clearly state on the listing that our two wonderful dogs do live in the home, but have never had complaints about this before.
It seems as if you were looking for a hotel experience, and unfortunately, this is our home, that we live in. The hot water heater was working both before and after you left. Again, I'm so sorry our home did not meet your expectations. Perhaps airbnb isn't for you?
The house is as clean, warm and well kept as the pictures show. It is a perfect choice for those seeking a calm and quiet and comfortable place to rest (very quiet at night) while being just a hop away from the downtown action (the train works great if you don't want to drive). Katherine is very friendly and really puts her self into making you feel at home with good coffee and on the fly tips about the city.
I would recommend staying at her house without a doubt.
