I have a 1920's bungalow on a shady street in a great historic neighborhood. It's a block from the Douglass Loop, a little triangular area where "back in the day" the old trolly cars used to turn around. It now holds a coffee shop, ice cream parlor, bakery, hardware store, pub and several restaurants. You won't have far to go to get whatever you need!
The room has french doors that open to the back deck of the house. There is a table for 4 and umbrella where you can enjoy a drink or coffee and listen to the birds. There is a Kreuig for coffee/tea anytime, and you'll have access to the fridge & microwave. I'm sorry, but I no longer can offer access to the stove for cooking. I provide a limited continental breakfast (oatmeal, granola bars, coffee, tea).
I have no dogs/cats and don't allow pets due to my allergies. I do have a Bearded Dragon (pet lizard) in a vivarium in my living room;)
**Whole house is available for rental at certain times of year (such as Derby). See my "other listings" for details.
The room is on the first floor (my bedrooms are upstairs). It is near the kitchen and you'll have access to a 1/2 bath off the kitchen (hairdryer provided). The full bath (shower) is at the top of the stairs and is shared. Towels/washcloths are provided in both bathrooms.
I work during the day, so you'll have the house to yourself much of the time. I enjoy meeting new people and would love to visit in the evenings a bit, however. I'm happy to give recommendations for what to do while in Louisville and am always available via cell to answer any questions you might have during your stay.
The neighborhood is very eclectic with historic homes, art galleries, boutiques, and great local eateries. Streets are tree-lined and make for great walking to nearby attractions. Cherokee Park is nearby with hiking trails, pedestrian/bike lanes and shady picnic spots.
It's only 6 houses from a major bus line and centrally located for affordable cab fair. Interstate access is 5 min away.
Enjoy a complimentary bowl of chocolates in your room!
Mutual respect is all I ask:) I work 9-4, so quiet hours from 11pm till 6:30 am.
No smoking in the house. Smoking is permitted on both porches, but please dispose of cigarettes in ashtrays provided.
I no longer am able to allow guests to use the stove for cooking. Guests may have space in the refrigerator and use of the microwave.
We had a great stay at Melissa's wonderful home! She provided every thing we needed! The bed was outstanding; so comfy! We have been to louisville quite a bit but the room had a really cool guide to activities and restaurants in the area.
Melissa is a fabulous host, she makes her house feel like home to her guests. This was my second stay here, and it was just as great as the first time. There are many gracious hosts out there, and Melissa ranks among the finest,;if I hadn't had plans I would have joined her and her family for a holiday event that evening, which is a really nice way of making travelers feel welcome. I'd be happy to stay here again, the ambiance and amenities are just right, including coffee for the morning, a key requirement for me.
I enjoyed my stay at Melissa's home. Melissa is a very generous and friendly host. The space fitted my needs perfectly and the home is in a very nice area of Louisville, I wish I would have had some free time to get out and about.
Melissa's home is clean and was well prepared for my arrival. Communication was excellent before my arrival and during my short two night stay.
I would not hesitate to stay with Melissa again.
Host was fantastic. Provided an AMAZING bed. To anyone staying in Louisville for whatever reason it's a great place in a great neighborhood. Coffee and treats, the works! Melissa was fantastic and very attentive to my every question.
Melissa's place is great; communication with was great and thorough and she's friendly. I did not want to leave that bed! the shower was comforting after a long drive. I just wish we got to make better use of the sweet back porch.
Melissa is the most wonderful host anyone could ever ask for. Her hospitality will make you feel like you're home again. She is such a delight, makes her guests feel incredibly welcomed, and is very helpful about guiding people to the best spots in her neighborhood so that you may enjoy your trip to the fullest extent. Her house is gorgeous and beautifully kept, the neighborhood inviting, and public transportation around the area makes exploring easy for anyone. It's no joke when she describes her place as a room with a view in the coolest neighborhood. If you're thinking of visiting Louisville, you need to stay with Melissa. Period.
I'm active and curious, so sometimes I have to work on taking time to just be still and center:) I work in the public school system and summer is a great time for me to travel or host (but I do both year-round!). I love meeting nonjudgemental, open, honest, kind, genuine folks who lead with their heart. I have LOTS of interests and love hearing about what others find interesting enough to call their hobby. I keep honeybees, create stained glass/copper artwork, practice yoga, contra dance and kayak when I get the chance. I have an herb garden and hope to get veggies going next season... IF the weather, the creeepy-crawlers and my back comply! I hope to meet you soon and hear your story!
