About this listing
Enjoy a tuscan-inspired private room with french doors leading to a deck for breakfast with a view! Right in the heart of Louisville's Highlands neighborhood-walking distance to great restaurants, breweries, coffee, galleries, bakeries, etc. Within easy transportation to best attractions in the city. Come stay with us!
I have a 1920's bungalow on a shady street in a great historic neighborhood. It's a block from the Douglass Loop, a little triangular area where "back in the day" the old trolly cars used to turn around. It now holds a coffee shop, ice cream parlor, bakery, hardware store, pub and several restaurants. You won't have far to go to get whatever you need!
The room has french doors that open to the back deck of the house. There is a table for 4 and umbrella where you can enjoy a drink or coffee and listen to the birds. There is a Kreuig for coffee/tea anytime, and you'll have access to the fridge & microwave. I'm sorry, but I no longer can offer access to the stove for cooking. I provide a limited continental breakfast (oatmeal, granola bars, coffee, tea).
I have no dogs/cats and don't allow pets due to my allergies. I do have a Bearded Dragon (pet lizard) in a vivarium in my living room;)
**Whole house is available for rental at certain times of year (such as Derby). See my "other listings" for details.
The room is on the first floor (my bedrooms are upstairs). It is near the kitchen and you'll have access to a 1/2 bath off the kitchen (hairdryer provided). The full bath (shower) is at the top of the stairs and is shared. Towels/washcloths are provided in both bathrooms.
I work during the day, so you'll have the house to yourself much of the time. I enjoy meeting new people and would love to visit in the evenings a bit, however. I'm happy to give recommendations for what to do while in Louisville and am always available via cell to answer any questions you might have during your stay.
The neighborhood is very eclectic with historic homes, art galleries, boutiques, and great local eateries. Streets are tree-lined and make for great walking to nearby attractions. Cherokee Park is nearby with hiking trails, pedestrian/bike lanes and shady picnic spots.
It's only 6 houses from a major bus line and centrally located for affordable cab fair. Interstate access is 5 min away.
Enjoy a complimentary bowl of chocolates in your room!
Mutual respect is all I ask:) I work 9-4, so quiet hours from 11pm till 6:30 am.
No smoking in the house. Smoking is permitted on both porches, but please dispose of cigarettes in ashtrays provided.
I no longer am able to allow guests to use the stove for cooking. Guests may have space in the refrigerator and use of the microwave.
I'm active and curious, so sometimes I have to work on taking time to just be still and center:) I'm a teacher, as is my partner Rob, and summer is a great time for us to travel or host (but we do both year-round!). I love meeting nonjudgemental, open, honest, kind, genuine folks who lead with their heart. I have LOTS of interests and love hearing about what others find interesting enough to call their hobby. I create stained glass/copper artwork, practice yoga, contra dance and kayak when I get the chance. I hope to meet you soon and hear your story!
