Ruy was great and very helpful, the place was in a great location in terms of getting around the city, and we really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend if you're from out of town and trying to explore Buenos Aires!
Un très bon endroit dans le centre de Buenos Aires. Ruy est très disponible et vraiment sympa.
Ruy was a great host, and I would definitely book this apartment again! As we were flying standby, he let us not only make a last-minute booking, but he also let us check in early and was gracious enough to work out a late check out as well. The view from the apartment is INCREDIBLE and the terrace is perfect for a sunset. It also offers a great vantage point to take some cool photos of the Evita mural on 9 de Julio. If you are looking for a place close to San Telmo for the market on Sunday, La Casa Rosada/Plaza de Mayo, this is perfect. It's also a very easy taxi or bus (#10 or #59 picks you right up on 9 de Julio) to Recoleta or Palermo if you want to go out at night, see the Recoleta Cemetary, or play in Palermo's parks.
The apartment was clean and had both hand and dish soap, so you didn't have to go out and buy those things. The only thing to keep in mind is this apartment does not have air conditioning--only a fan. For a fall/spring night, it was just fine, but I could see the heat being a bit tough in the peak summer. (This information is included in the description of the apartment, so it came as no surprise. We were perfectly happy without the A/C.)
As we were in BsAs for only the weekend, he also helped us exchange a little USD for Pesos (at a very fair rate) to get us started, which was perfect. If you are heading to EZE, it's the same price to use the driver he knows as it is to taxi to Manuel Tienda Leon and bus to the airport. In the future, we'll make sure we have enough pesos at the end of our trip to go through his driver. As I had lived in the city before, I didn't ask for tourist tips, but he has guide books in the apartment and am sure he would have great ideas for how to spend your time in BsAs.
Ruys apartment is great. The terrace is huge and has a great view where you can see the sunset. The bed is very comfortable and in general the apartment has everything you need. There is a supermarket right under the apartment and an ATM just around the corner which is very convenient! Metro station is only five minutes away. Ruy was easy to get in contact with and to communicate with and offered us his help anytime. We can definitely recommend staying at Ruys'.
The apart is quite spacious with a nice balcony and a good quality bed. Aside of towels, it was missing any kind of consumables, e.g toilet paper.
There have been a misunderstanding about the checkout time, but such things can happen. Unfortunately to get back our deposit (for the keys), we had to meet again before leaving, and Ruy refused any form of compromise to find an amicable agreement which turned this experience into a really unpleasant one.
I let all my guests know that I am flexible with check-in (they arrive around 11 pm) and check-out. I do ask for fair warning ( a couple of hours, preferably the night before) to be able to let them out and return the key deposit. 15 min is not enough time.
If there is anything missing in the apartment let me know and I will be happy to supply it. Normally toilet paper is supplied.
Ruy is a lovely host who really tries to make your stay in BA as comfortable as possible. The flat is served by a lift and you have a beautiful view over BA. It is close (10 minutes walk) to more 'touristy' San Telmo but we liked the tree lined streets, the local shops and restaurants of the immediate surroundings. It is a great base for exploring BA.
Ruy is the perfect host. He is helpful, he is on time, if you have any question just drop him a line and will answer pretty quickly.
The place is really nice, in good shape, I really enjoyed the view and it is quite close to a lot of places.
The wifi will be a little bit slow, but quite helpful.
