Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes to both!
Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: Quite a lot. The room is on the top floor of the house with an en suite toilet/shower.
Q: How much will I see of you?
A: Hopefully as much or as little as you like! If you'd rather your privacy we completely understand. If you want to come downstairs for a chat, to use the kitchen, or to watch TV we would be delighted to see you, hear about your trip and to answer any questions you may have about the area. We both work full time, so are likely to be out in the day, but should be around first thing in the morning and most evenings.
Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: The room has an en suite with a toilet, basin and shower. Should you want use of a bath, you are welcome to use the shared bathroom on the floor downstairs.
Q: What's my total booking price?
A: We don't know! With fees included, Airbnb only shows the total amount payable to the person booking. This figure should be visible after you enter your dates to check availability.
Q: Can I cook/use the kitchen?
A: Of course! You're welcome to leave stuff in the fridge too.
Q: Is breakfast included? What kind of breakfast is it?
A: We usually lay out breakfast for our guests and you're welcome to help yourselves to this. Breakfast will usually be a mixture of what we've got in the house and what we're eating (typically a mixture of cereals, muselis, toast, etc). If you're staying with us at the weekend this might stretch to something cooked as well! If you have any specific dietary requirements please let us know.
We hope this helps to answer any questions you may have - should you think of anything else though please do ask.
Please let us know your arrival time. It's a good idea to take our mobile numbers in case of delay. We try and be as flexible as possible, but both have full time jobs which we have to try and work around. We have always been able to work things out so far though!
We are quite relaxed and don't insist on too many rules. We would however ask you to remember that the property is our home, so please take care of it! The inside of the property is non smoking; we would just ask you to remove any outside shoes before going upstairs; and not to remove any books or personal belongings when it is time for you to leave us.
My first airbnb experience and it was excellent. Emma & Martyn are really superhosts!!! Their patience with my english, all the kindness and help to make my stay as comfortable as possible - it was really great hospitality - flowers and homemade biscuits in the room, preparing of my overnight oaks... The large, quiet room under the roof with the little bathroom was perfect for my fortnight stay. And all the smiles from cute baby Sid - it couldn't be better. Thanks a lot.
This is the third time I have stayed which says it all. This time Emma & Martyn get awarded Airbnb Platinum status. In my room were delicious Welsh Tea Cakes, although Emma's homemade biscotti are my favourite, but to top it all a pancake, made by Martyn, for breakfast provided both entertainment and sustenance. Warning to other guests - it was Shrove Tuesday and pancakes may not be guaranteed on other visits.
Perfect Valentines retreat :) My partner and I were welcomed and shown to our room straight away. Lovely big loft room, very clean & cosy. Ensuite shower & comfy bed! Such a wonderful polite family and beautiful home. We were offered breakfast everyday, hot pastries! Added bonus of bedside biscuits and a bunch of red roses. Both hosts were ever so helpful and I'd definitely recommend them! Thank you so much.
My husband and I stayed with Emma and Martyn for a week during our business trip and we loved this experience.
Emma and Martyn made us very welcome in their gorgeous home from the moment we arrived. The en-suite bedroom we had was large, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, the breakfast was delicious and the hosts were brilliant. We have already asked Emma and Martyn to pencil us in in their diary for the next business trip in a few months' time and we're looking forward to being regular guests in their lovely home.
This was our first trip with airbnb and we will definitely be making more bookings!
A revelation - my first experience of airbnb and it was excellent. Emma & Martyn & Sid were good hosts and good company. I was loathed to leave their lovely house and my tranquil room at the end of my stay - hoping to return soon!
We unfortunately couldn't take up our reservation due to ill health. However, in the lead up to our stay, Emma and Martyn were hugely helpful in terms of providing advice on transport and nice places to eat, and offered to book a table for us as were planning to arrive on a Friday night. They were completely charming and gracious throughout and we will certainly hope to stay with them when we are next in Birmingham.
Emma and Martyn were extremely warm and welcoming - from the arrival cup of tea to the generous breakfast. The room and en suite were just as described - clean and comfortable with a lovely view over the garden. The house is five minutes from the buses on Kings Heath High Street and so well connected with the City. A very nice place to stay!

We are a young, married, professional couple. Relaxed and friendly hosts.
Emma: reading (recent kindle convert), travel, cookery (burgeoning jam and chutney empire), and planning how to decorate our home.
Martyn: most sports, listening to the radio (preferably BBC6 Music or Test Match Special), film, gardening, and cycling to work.
The property's other permanent residents are baby Sid (born in September 2014) and two cats, Hamble & Chubbs. Each of the three take turns at waking us up, but generally leave our guests alone!
