Interaction with Guests
We are always happy to help out our guests with anything they may need and have a nice chat with them.
Our guests can conveniently find us every morning in our Office located in the ground floor of Yatachhen House.
Being quite busy with our work, we have unfortunately not much time for full cultural exploration along with our guests but are always happy to recommend them good guides for that.
You can't find more authentic and traditional neighbourhood! Once you have discovered the old Patan, you will never want to stay in Thamel anymore!
When staying in this part of town you are surrounded by Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, monasteries , local food spots and hidden courtyards with secret paths. The vibrant local life of the Newars (the original ethnic group of the Kathmandu Valley) guarantees you a very rich cultural experience.
To resume :
• Situated in the heart of Patan historical city center (Swotha Square)
• Quietly nested inside a courtyard (no noise from the road!)
• Less than 100m away from Durbar Square and the Golden Temple
• 500m away from Patan Doka (Patan’s gate)
• 20 min walk away from U.N. House, Sanepa area, Kupondole area
• 15 min ride to Thamel
• 20 min ride to the International Airport
Taxi can be found in Durbar Square and Patan Dhoka at all time of the day and night.
There are two big public bus stations around (10 min walk away from us): Lagankel and Patan Doka bus parks.
From there you can go down to Kathmandu Ratna Park and to many places and villages around.
As a general fact, we discourage our guests to be systematically brought back by taxi or car until our front door (beside the first day of course!). The old Patan is a very fragile area and cannot handle too much traffic and pollution.
Ask the taxi to drop you in Mangal Bazar or in Patan Doka and have a walk in all those beautiful small alleys and courtyards to reach our house, it is much healthier and enjoyable for all ;-)
Other Things to Note
Jimi and Yuri are our courtyard dogs. They are adorable creatures, very kind and friendly. If ever they welcome you with a little bark, don't be afraid, it is just to greet you ;-)
Gas, water and electricity are very precious ressources here in Nepal, please use them very conscientiously.
Small problems related to those ressources can always happen, we are very reactive to fix things once informed but you need to be aware that Nepal is a country where you have to be adaptable ;-)
Nothing special beside the respect of others. We also encourage our guests not to smoke inside the house but preferably up to the roof terrace.
If I come back to Patan, I will definitly stay there again! The place was very nice and clean, all the staff was very friendly and always helpful and the location was just great! There was really nothing to complain, I recommend this place and also the other appartements and rooms they are offering, (all around the same area). Everything was top!!
Cosy Nepal was the perfect place for us to stay and relax while we were in Kathmandu. While the location was a bit tricky to navigate in a taxi, the old Newari home was architecturally stunning!
This is a wonderful roof-top studio apartment which has been renovated in local traditional style as shown on the photos but with modern/western-style bathroom and kitchen. It’s clean, private, secure, and well taken care of. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. Located in Patan, a bit off the main tourist circuit, it makes for an excellent opportunity to interact and mingle with the locals who are also very friendly and welcoming to visitors. Central Kathmandu is only 20 minutes away by inexpensive taxi. Electricity (for low-powered devices like laptops and mobile phones) and hot water are not an issue even during load shedding and the fiber-backed wireless Internet is excellent. I highly recommend staying here for exploring Kathmandu, Patan, and the rest of the Valley.
Perfect journey and experience with the local culture, will recommend friends to join this family if they have any plans to visit Nepal
Our little apartment was fantastic! Everyone is super friendly and helpful...we had a great stay and only wish that it were longer!
The reservation was canceled 23 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

French Travel freak - have lived in many country including Russia, Spain, Sweden, USA and now Nepal. Today my pleasure is to introduce people to unspoilt places of the Kathmandu Valley, especially the Old Patan where I live.
Very fond of old wood, architecture, animals and nature in general, experimental food and all things a bit curious.
