The Ponsonby area is an inner city village. We find we have everything we need for day to day living, practically on our doorstep. Delis, wine shops, cafés and restaurants, beautiful clothing retailers, hair and beauty salons, specialist shops for gifts, books, and home wares as well as basics like pharmacies, a large supermarket, fruit shops.
We can accommodate one child/baby with parents, on camp bed or in portable cot (both provided). However the space is furnished with adults in mind and is not 'childproof' - please enquire if you have questions about this.
Our Siamese/Balinese cat, Rothko, skulks around outside the studio. You may see him as he cuts through the rear courtyard on his way home from exploring. But he's shy and won't come in to bother you.
New photos now uploaded, showing more recent garden planting, new arm chairs.
Helen was a very friendly host and the room was super clean and very comfortable! We would definitely come back and stay there if we go to AKL again. We can only recommend the stay in this place. Thanks a lot for everything!!
A great place to stay in a great neighborhood!30 minute walk to the city center.the studio is modern and clean!i wish I could have stayed longer!cheers
Perfect! We were in Auckland for a weekend break and Helens accommodation was brilliant. Cosy and comfortable with lots of thoughtful extras. Close enough to walk to cbd or a short taxi ride away plus loads of shops and cafés in ponsonby. We would love to come back and stay again- thank you Helen.
The studio is exactly as it is shown in the picture. A perfect stay in Auckland, close to the centre with good eating places within easy walking.
Helen was a good host and gave us all the information we needed.
I would recommend this to anyone and if we return to Auckland would be happy to stay again.
Auckland was our last stop in New Zealand. The stay in Helens Studio was a very good experience. We enjoyed it and felt very comfortable. We had a lot of space in this studio. It was quiet an private.
Helen is a great host. We were warmly welcomed by her. She helped us a lot: organizing the airport-shuttle , finding a good restaurant and a good running track and more.
We can highly recommend this studio and hope we can use it once again.
My husband and I would echo many of the positive comments left by other guests. We had a absolutely wonderful stay at Helen's studio, and would have loved to stay longer than two nights. The studio itself is beautifully decorated and is just a lovely space with high ceilings and floor to ceiling doors. It feels very private and peaceful--so much so that it is easy to forget you in the midst of a big city and literally steps away from Ponsonby street with tons of great restaurants, cafes and shops. Helen was a lovely host who was very welcoming and easy to communicate with both before and during our stay. She allowed us a late check out and was kind enough to let us store our baggage at the studio as we had a late flight out of Auckland. Overall, a great Airbnb experience! We would highly recommend this accommodation if you are headed to Auckland!
Helen was absolutely lovely throughout my stay in her beautiful studio. Travelling solo can sometimes be daunting, but with Helen's warm and friendly welcome this was nothing to be worried about. Everything from the bedding, to the coffee and milk that was supplied was perfect.
The studio was ideal for my week-long stay and is located in a very quirky, fun and convenient part of town with super easy bus links to most places. I arrived in Auckland quite late, however, Helen was very courteous and waited for me to arrive with a big smile. I highly recommend the studio to any solo travellers or couples wanting very comfortable accommodation.
A beautiful place to stay in a great part of the city; Helen obviously really cares about her guests and that shows in every detail of the room. I particularly loved the light-filled space, comfy retro chairs and the feel of the rugs underfoot! Every amenity is provided, including coffee and tea making stuff, washing machine and soap, DVDs, an iPod (great music)!, hairdryer and nice toiletries. We wished we could have stayed longer. We arrived significantly late (and semi-coherent from jetlag) from a delayed flight and Helen was very gracious... we're sorry we were rushing around so much and never had a time to chat!
Helen was a fabulous hostess and has a beautiful studio behind her home. There was underground work that ended up in front of her place when we were there but sh made sur we had a parking space the whole time. Despite the workers, the studio was quiet. The whole setup is lovely. A separate entrance, and a nice outdoor garden and quiet area front and back of the studio. Access to Ponsonby Rd, just behind the studio, is from a pretty walkway that drops you on the road, in a perfect location for cafes, shops and a park. Phelan provided step by step directions to her plavpce from the Aucklnd airport. Her studio, with comfy bed, high ceilings, nice bathroom and washer made our first stop in New Zealand very pleasant and memorable. I highly recommend this accommodation.
Helen and her lovely studio were our first Airbnb experience and she set the standard very high! The studio is totally private, nicely arranged and impeccably clean. Organic coffee, tea, milk, and bath amenities were all special. Helen is very friendly, there when you need her, and not intrusive. And the neighborhood is great! Easy walk up to all the restaurants and activity on Ponsonby Stteet and also down to the waterfront. We would love to return!
