Guest access
The Guest House is part of Rosemary Farm Sanctuary but has its own separate driveway and yard. When you stay at the Guest House, this is what you are renting. PLEASE NOTE: On Saturdays between Memorial Day and Labor Day, we hold public tours. The Guest House mudroom and half bath will be locked out separately from the remainder of the house and made available for public tour participants to use (10:30am-1:00pm). Bath will be cleaned after the tour and returned to private use.

Activities at the Sanctuary

Many guests want to learn more about our mission and our operations and we offer several paid and free activities that allow you to experience our horses up close and personal.

(1) ALL Guests receive a FREE walking tour of the Sanctuary ($80 value).

(2) Guests may also volunteer to help with farm chores from 8-11am each morning - mucking stalls, stuffing hay in NibbleNets, filling water buckets, sweeping the barn, etc. Children age 6 and older may participate in limited tasks with parental supervision. You must complete a tour before you can volunteer. Volunteering is 100% optional!!

(3) We also offer a paid Interactive Horse Experience - 45 minutes grooming, handling, interacting 1:1 with one of our rescue horses. $45 per person. FREE with a 2 night booking.

All activities are subject to availability and weather, and must be scheduled in advance of your arrival. Appropriate attire is required (hard, closed toe shoes, layers, work gloves, baseball cap). We will contact you to arrange a schedule after your reservation is booked, or you can inquire in advance to help make plans.

Other things to note
Weather in the Catskills can be unpredictable so please consider that when booking -- you might get sun, you might get rain and mud, you might get wind and snow! If you are happy tucking into a cozy, disconnected getaway with books, board games and vinyl or trekking off to sightsee in the area, you will still enjoy it, but guests coming just to spend time with our horses need to be flexible. During inclement weather, outdoor activities will be cancelled.

Cell service is non-existent on our stretch of road. Please print directions and put our address in your GPS before you get to the area. If you wait until you're close, it's too late for it to connect. Also please note many GPS systems will say "you're here" when you first turn off NY-18 onto Roses Brook Road - sorry, not true! Please continue 1.5 miles up the road and you'll find us!

Three hours and a world away from NYC, Rosemary Farm is a beautiful sanctuary for equines, tucked in a corner of the Catskill mountains, home to one of the largest free-running herds of horses in the state. The Guest House was established in 2016, as part of the non-profit, to allow guests a chance to experience our magnificent horses close-up, and spend some tranquil time in our mountain paradise.

During your stay
Rosemary Farm Sanctuary is across the road, so we are available if needed to answer questions about local attractions, directions, etc. as needed. If you pre-arranged activities, we will see you at those times during your stay. Otherwise, we will leave you on your own to enjoy this retreat and the area attractions!

We will lockout the mudroom and half bath on Saturday mornings to make it available for our Public Tours. The bathroom will be cleaned after yours and available to you after the tours end (approx 1pm).

We observe farm hours (early to bed, early to rise). Please do not call the Sanctuary after 7:30pm unless you have an emergency.
