Unique 2 storey 1BD+ens+kitch Sanur

Villa - Entire home/apt · South Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia

Cool, welcoming and relaxing. The king bed and ensuite have quality linen and towels, the balcony overlooks treetops. This unique two storey timber structure is located within the same grounds as our Villa.

Conveniently located just 50m from Danau Tamblingan near the Hyatt Hotel, it is walking distance to everything.

The Space

The accommodation is affectionately known as the Coconut Cubby or Tree House. It is a separate self-contained two storey timber structure located next to the owners single storey villa. It was specifically designed as independent accommodation for guests.

Downstairs is a kitchenette with fridge, stove and sink and an undercover outdoor seating area. The bedroom, ensuite and balcony are located upstairs. The room has flyscreens, an air conditioner and fan and a safe.

The bedroom has sliding doors opening directly onto the balcony which overlooks lush green tree tops and captures Bali's balmy breezes. The ensuite is light and spacious with an open style shower.

Guest Access

Our villa has a private pool which guests are welcome to use. There is a washing machine available adjacent to the kitchenette. We also have 2 bicycles available for use by guests.

The room will be serviced daily by our maid, the lush villa grounds and pool are maintained by other staff.

Interaction with Guests

Being a separate self contained building it is easy for our guests to maintain their privacy. However it is equally easy for them to interact with us should they choose. We are an Australian couple who spend most of our time in Bali and are happy to share our local knowledge and experiences with our guests.

Our villa has open style kitchen, living and dining area immediately adjacent to the pool. Our bedroom is located on the opposite side of the pool from the Coconut Cubby.

  • We spent here more than 2 weeks and we liked this villa very much! Location is great - 7 min by foot to the beach, very close to Hardy's and other shops and restaurants.
Everything on this villa is exceptionally clean, all the kitchen stuff looked like new. Water pool is clean and bright.
Maureen and Harry are wonderful hosts - they are ready to help in any situation - just ask. They can advise the places to go and how to get there cheaper.
Also they are cheerful and positive guys and it was a pleasure to live near them.
I would definitely recommend to choose this villa for vacations!

  • We are so happy that we came across Maureen And Garry's accommodation - they were so lovely to meet after a very speedy response to our enquiry on Airbnb !!

The accommodation was extremely central to the main strip of shops, beach, restaurants & night market. The actual room was on the top floor of a balinese double storey homely villa, all wooden interior & exterior - comfortable spacious bed - balcony with screen doors & glass doors - ceiling fan and air con - bedroom was all sealed - very large bathroom with a great shower and hot water system plus bathroom & pool towels - tv & dvd player - lovely pool in the very pretty garden. They also provided drinking water - a separate kitchen to use on the lower floor with a fridge and stove incase you wanted prepare or store any of your own food - plus a washing machine we used to wash some of our clothing

We always felt very secure even when walking back and forth to their place - they were always around for a chat or to answer any questions we had.

You wont regret your stay we certainly didn't & wish we were still there - hopefully if we return to Bali we would love to stay with Maureen And Garry again.

  • We (parent with two older female children) have now stayed twice at Maureen & Garry's Coconut Cubby - well, we felt like we were coming home the second time we arrived there... there is such a grace to the grounds and such a calmness, when ascending the stairs to the cubby. The bathroom is fantastic & the Mexican style painted tiles are such an individual touch. There was nothing wanting with this cubby. Although the room is not massive, it is a cubby after all and I really only slept there; but the bed is huge. The cubby is made of really marvellous wood & although some might consider it a little dark, it has a cooling effect. I hardly used the airconditioner (which is very effective), even though it was the wet season when we stayed, and very humid at this time, as there is a good ceiling fan in the room, which is also well fitted out with cupboards, wardrobe, drawer and shelf space. The bathroom does get a bit sticky hot once the sun is up, but there's also a fan above the mirror in there, which does the trick. The swimming pool available to use in the complex, is just lovely and the whole complex just has a flow to it; there is also lovely Ketut, who comes to clean every day and who will also help you out with any little things. She escorted my daughter to purchase an Indonesian Sim card for her iphone, and stayed with her while that was organised. The whole complex is Western clean, but Eastern in style and grace. When we couldn't get the DVD player operating through the TV in the room, Maureen offered her own (rather large) TV for use, which my children were just stoked with, as it rained just about the whole of our first stay there, and we all got sick, so movies were good. There is no breakfast served here, but that wasn't a problem for us, as sometimes it's kind of a hassle to have to get up and eat for a certain time. Fruit & cake purchased from Hardy's nearby, was the order of the day; particularly after all three of us came down with something. This cubby is also really really well positioned in Sanur, with amazing privacy, as it's down a little lane and off the main rd, in fact, but still close to anything you'd need. Grocer & grind is great for coffee and Made's Kitchen a bit further along, for good, reasonably priced Indonesian food too. Maureen supplies you with a list of further eateries and facilities in the nearby vicinity, which is really helpful. There is a reasonably priced driver available next door too, but when he's not, there are plenty out on the main rd (Jln Danau Tamblingan), to get you anywhere else you may wish to go. I highly recommend this cubby as a very reasonably priced (especially with all it offers), great place...

  • This was a good start for my friend and me. We were being picked up at the airport, and had a good two days to recover from our jetlag at Maureen and Gary's place. Thank you!

  • For the price, I enjoyed my stay at the cute as a button Coconut Cubby. Athough the Balinese style timber house is certainly quirky and aesthetically appealing, the reality is that it is uninsulated from heat and urban noise...and it is located in a very compact villa compound shared with the friendly Australian hosts. The central Sanur location and proximity to the beach is a big plus. The huge bed was uber comfy, the kitchenette v. workable, the bathroom funky, and the wifi iffy. Generous and friendly hosts.

    Response from Maureen And Garry:

We had relocated our wifi router just prior to Eloise's stay. We have now moved it again to ensure wifi is available in the cubby. Unfortunately we were not aware of Eloise's difficulties connecting to the wifi until after she has left, had we known we could have asked our maid to relocate the unit. I have asked Eloise to elaborate on her comments relating to heat and urban noise but to dat have not had a reply.

Eloise hasn't indicated whether she used the air conditioner, she is concerned about resource consumption so may have chosen not to use it. December is one of the most uncomfortable months to visit Bali as far as weather is concerned. None of our other guests have found heat to be an issue in the cubby. In fact our current guest is not using the aircon, ad previous guests have indicated the same.

We are in an urban setting and have neighbours close by. There is a family with children and dogs next door and we often hear their laughter when they are playing in their yard. You can hear ceremonial processions on the main street which we always go out to have a look at. There is live music next door at Bali Deli twice a week in until about 10pm. It is a male and female duet and we quite enjoy their beautiful voices. We are not aware of any other urban noise which a guest may encounter and find obtrusive.

  • Maureen and Gary are excellent hosts. They were extremely helpful in advising us on what to do or where to go. They even took us for a lovely breakfast on the beach. The treehouse is in the perfect location, only minutes to the beach, restaurants and shops. It's modern, yet comfortable with unique decor. Would definitely stay again.

  • Thank you Maureen and Garry for your hospitality whist staying in your lovely coconut cubby!
Although it was a short stay, we had a warm welcome and felt very relaxed. Our room was lovely and so was the pool:) Our hosts helped us to get transfer taxi and were very knowledgeable of the local area. The beach was a short walk away along with many places to eat and to get food shopping if we needed to eat in. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice relaxed place in a good location in Sanur!

We are an Australian couple in our mid 40's who retired early to live in Bali. the Island of the Gods. We love the easy going laid back lifestyle in Sanur The weather is also a plus with the average daily temperature being 28 degrees (C) year round. Garry loves motorbikes and has a few of them, including one with a sidecar which is fun to get around on. We also have pushbikes which we use to get around Sanur on. We tend to eat out most days at the many local eateries, nightmarkets or beach warungs (shops). We are non smokers and social drinkers who enjoy a simple stress free life now. We have another 2 bedroom villa just down the road which is also available for rent on the Airbnb website.
