The place is not a grand place, it's just a livable clean place to sleep at night. We have turned it into a room with sofa bed /couch for relaxation , twin bed that can accommodate a person. It's a good place when someone comes and wants to see new york city, without having to pay for a huge amount to sleep at night.

Neighborhood is a quiet private place with shops in a block. Jersey City - Journal Square's Indian street / Newark avenue is 6 mins walk away. Convenient shopping stores are around the corner. TWIN City SuperMarket Grocery store is 1 block away; Laundry place is also on the same block as the supermarket (1 block away). No laundry service available in the house for guest use.
There is also Weekend free street parking on both sides of the street of Romaine avenue for guests with a car. But please be mindful of the street signs, sweeping hours and days. You may park in front of any house in any nearby street that doesn't have a drive through, fire hazard space, etc. Also be aware of 2 hour street cleaning time (usually 10 AM – 12 Noon on alternate weekdays) to avoid getting parking tickets.
The No Parking between 10-12 on wkdays mornings is for street sweeping - and it applies to everybody, regardless of whether you have a parking permit for the zone. Once the sweeper moves through the street, you can park there, even if it's not yet 10 a.m. The sweeper is usually pretty consistent on when he moves through a particular block. It's not unusual to see cars idling on the street waiting for the sweeper to move through so they can nab a parking spot.
Also, the two-hour limit for those without zone permits is aimed at preventing people who live outside of JC from using the streets as free a park-and-ride for commuting into the city. The closer the street is to a PATH station, the more aggressive the zone permit enforcement
Basically, in Jersey City if it's a Saturday or Sunday, or if it's a weekday between 5 pm and 8 am, you're ok to park on the streets. But must read what's written on the posts. Do not park in driveways or drive thrus of someone's house.
For weekday parking, You need permit from the Jersey City parking authority office address 394 Central Ave, Jersey City, NJ for weekday parking. Please search the internet for their office hours. It costs 3 dollars for a weekday parking. The form online contains following info:
VISITOR PASSES $3.00 A DAY (MONEY ORDER ONLY) PROOF OF WHOM YOU ARE VISITING OR PROOF OF RESIDENCY (PARK ONLY IN ZONED AREA). NO PERMIT WILL BE ISSUED UNTIL ALL SUMMONSES PENDING WITH THE JERSEY CITY VIOLATIONS BUREAU ARE SETTLED. Make non-refundable check or money order payable to The Jersey City Parking Authority. (Do not send cash) THIS APPLICATION MAY BE FREELY REPRODUCED. "
If you are arriving late at night to my home, it may be difficult to find parking. You would need to search for parking on other streets/lanes nearby Romaine Avenue, or just park in nearby parking garage.
Please use search engine or MAP ENGINE on the internet to get to know about public transportation in this area. Our house is located in Romaine Avenue, jersey city, NJ 07306. Please do your research about parking and commuting before asking questions or before making any reservations.
Our Public transit is very convenient with PATH Train to NYC or Buses to NYC. You can walk to my place from the PATH station in 7 – 10 mins. If you have luggage, you may take a cab from Journal Square PATH station to my house and it costs only $5 dollars.
Other Things to Note
We do not have maids. I usually clean / vacuum once a week. Sheets are washed and changed per new guest arrival. You may change sheets yourself if you are staying for more than a couple of days. Just ask me. this is one of the most comfortable and inexpensive accommodation compared to nearby places in Journal Square area.
The basement door is not friendly for very tall people while going down the stairs. Please watch your head at the entrance of the basement door.
Shampoo towels and toilet paper are provided.
However, let me know if you need something that is not in the bathroom. I may allow you to use spare toiletries.
Please be considerate of other people. Please be thoughtful, considerate, kind, caring and respectful of others. How you treat and think of others reflects on how you think of yourself.
Clean up: I am not charging you for cleaning fees. That means I expect you to clean up after yourselves. If your room and bathroom trash is not taken out and not disposed in the big trash bin outside the back door, I will have to charge you $25.00 for littering the room and not disposing the trash.
Do not leave your dirty dishes lying around or in the sink or leave in dirty food and trash. If you use utensils and damage it, please let the host know and buy or compensate for a new one. You will not get your deposit back if we have to clean up after yourselves.
Don't ignore your email.
Last-minute changes to the host's schedule make it crucial to be in touch as soon as possible. So stay reachable in the days leading up to your stay. And, if at all possible, check your email when the plane lands or before you arrive. Some guests view traveling as an excuse to shut off the phone and ignore email. If you're using Airbnb, please, at least glance at it.
Don't miss arrival and departure times
Hosts are not running hotels, and they don't have a reception desk. The host absolutely needs to know a firm check in time, as far in advance as possible. Sometimes separate guests leave and arrive on the same day. The place has to be cleaned and prepared for the next visitor. For extensions of check-out times (or the occasional check-ins), I will try to accommodate. Guests can usually leave luggage behind during the last day, or drop it off early if the room isn't ready yet. Just be sure to ask in advance.
Communicate problems or questions
A host hates to read post-visit reviews complaining of not enough towels. You know what? If you want another towel, just ask. The host is not trying to hold out on you, but the host can't know you need something unless you speak up. All hosts want you to have a good stay, but it's up to you to say what to do to make that happen. By the same token, treat the host's belongings with respect—if you're not sure if you can help yourself to that ketchup, ask.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
Ms. K was nice and friendly, quick to meet my needs, and let me check in earlier than was posted. Room was as described, place was clean and bed comfortable. Huge room and own private bathroom, pretty much the basement to yourself. Perfect for a family. Stairs can be a little hard to navigate with large luggage. Good location, close to shops and public transportation.
Have stayed at Ms's several times now. Always had a great experience. Ms is welcoming and accommodating. I can recommend Ms to everyone. Tony.
Ms. K H was very easy and accommodating. Although the greater house had several people living there, we 4 guests had our own good space for living and sleeping. Next morning, we enjoyed an outside backyard picnic style breakfast watching the local squirrels play.
The neighborhood was quite "colorful"! We drove a car to NYC, so street parking was a challenge, but we happened to find a good spot on the next street. Ms. K gave us good tips about parking as well. If you have any questions or requests, make sure you talk to her- she's easy. One thing, if you are sensitive to an "old house smell", the basement might not be for you. Overall, a good experience and an exceptional value for the 4 of us here!
My husband and I stayed in Ms. K H's place just for one night. We arrived late and left early in the morning. Ms. K H is kind and responsive to our inquiry. The basement is right as described, with refrigerator, microwave and bathroom. The house is about 15 mins walk from PATH station. It is a good and affordable choice for people looking for a short stay.
Our host, Ms. K welcomed us and was very nice even given our very late arrival hour. The accommodations were exactly as described. Very comfortable, perfect for our needs. The neighborhood felt safe, was very close to excellent public transportation, and I loved having the Mexican supermarket just around the corner.
Thank you so much, Ms. K. I would definitely stay with you again and would most certainly recommend your place to others visiting New York City.
I was staying with my 3 friends at Ms. K place for 3 nights. This great place for anyone who is looking for a place only to sleep. The place is very good connected to Manhattan with public transport using Path trains. The neighbourhood is quite and nice.
Ms. K is very nice person. Unfortunately I didn't have opportunity to meet Ms. K in person (we were always coming back from NYC in midnight), but she was always responding to my messages very quickly. She even let us check-in at 1AM.
This was very good stay for a fair price. Thank you!
Very nice place to stay. Good area quite close to Journal Station (PATH). Mrs. K was flexible with our rare check-in and check-out hours so I highly recommend the place if you are looking for accommodation somewhere between Newark Airport and Manhattan

"We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone." ....
I am an analyst by profession. Our place is easy to commute to New York and other parts of Jersey. I recommend that you research about commuting, public transportation, and any other things online before inquiring it with me. I am happy to provide help and suggestions, but because I am very busy and occupied throughout the day, I may not be able to reply promptly. You are welcome to ask questions regarding my listing and I will try my best to get back to you on time.
Regarding kitchen use, I have been a little disappointed with the insensitive treatment of a few guests who have burnt my utensils, kept the counter tops, sink, and dishes dirty. You are welcome to use my kitchen (dishes, gas stove etc) only If you are going to clean up after yourselves in the kitchen. I am very picky about keeping my place tidy.
Common areas are vacuumed every Sat/Sunday (not everyday). Your personal room will be cleaned and freshened up based on the guest arrival / departure day.
