I Love This Neighborhood! It is a eclectic mix of families & SOU students, homeowners & renters, newborns to elders & all ages in between. Across the street is one of the Best Parks in town that has a basketball court, a sand volleyball pit, swings, slides, & a great water park area. With it's large open spaces people fly kites, play Frisbee & even practice fly fishing. This park brings together the whole neighborhood with people of all ages and their pets. The Police station & City Hall is around the corner. On Tuesdays stroll 2 blocks (on the bike path)to the Crafter & Growers Market for fresh produce, food booths, hand crafted items & entertainers A block past that is Hunter Park which has a seasonal public pool. "Science Works" hands on Museum is 4 blks over. This neighborhood has easy access to all that the Ashland has to offer, weather it's doing city things in town or driving a few miles south of town to horse riding stables or go to the mountains or Immigrant Lake & water slide park. Or just stay home comfortably looking out to the distant mountains past the park.
It is a level 6/10 of a mile to downtown Ashland so walking could be a good option. Public Transportation is 3 blocks away Which goes to the South end of town & North to Medford to the main station then change to another local bus to the Airport or other local areas or catch the Greyhound Bus in Medford for longer distances. There is also a couple of Cab options like "Yell O Cab" Co. If you travel by train & get off at Kalamath Falls, there is a Transport Bus to the Ashland Safeway which is about 1/2 mi from the Cottage. Once here The Bike Path is a block away..If you take it Left you go through the Historic Railroad District towards the Food Co-Op. Or take the Bike Path to the Right towards the South End of town through Hunter Park which has an outside seasonal Public Pool, and ends up near the YMCA & another Grocery Store that's 1/2 Organic & 1/2 Conventional Items .

Felt very welcome. Ariel met us and showed us all the things to do for door lock, extra towels, heat, wi-fi, etc., etc. House very clean and comfortable. No problems. Park across the street - kite flying going on one day. Will recommend to friends.
Everything here was great. Ariel was very flexible as our arrival time changed through out the day. The place was very cozy-perfect for our family of 4 plus my mom to feel comfortable with good space in the living room to all hang out. The location could not be better for families with kids and is still super close to town-theater, shops, etc.
Ariel was also very helpful when we had a medical emergency while we were up there. We will be back next time we are in town.
This is a clean, functional, comfortable home. It's a duplex setup, with the owner living in the other half of the house. A garage separates the living quarters, so at no point was noise from the other half of the house an issue. With a capacity for sleeping 8, across the street from a large park with a playground, and only a couple of blocks from the ScienceWorks Hands On Museum (for children), it struck me as an ideal place for a family with children. With an immaculate dog kennel attached, it seems even more family friendly. Ariel makes the garage available for bikes and recreational gear, a nice benefit that allows safe storage for recreational gear. If coming with a family, be aware of the somewhat unusual pricing structure which adds $10/night for each person after the FIRST occupant. This rapidly raises the base rate.
I also liked the fact that this home is within a hundred yards of a paved bike path that I used both for biking and running, nice to be able to access such a feature by walking out the front door. I'm a cyclist, and found that the somewhat busy E. Main St. that borders the property offers excellent access to some wonderful rides, some of which have been used by Cycle Oregon in past years. E. Main does have a good bike lane.
It's about a 15 minute walk at average pace to the south end of town, about 20 minutes to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theatres.
Ariel is dedicated to making one's stay a good one, and has plenty of information about places to eat, things to see and do, and Ashland happenings in general.
Ariel was a fantastic host! She checked us in to make sure we felt welcome, but left us with plenty of privacy. When we needed something, she was quick to respond.
The cottage was great - located close enough to town to walk, and stayed nice and cool in the summer heat. It was a very enjoyable stay - thanks!
My husband and I shared this cottage with my brother and his wife. Ariel welcomed us and provided us with helpful sightseeing information. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, and ready to use. We were able to walk to town and back in about 15 minutes. This was a quiet location, and easy to find. Ariel was most accommodating. We would like to stay here in the future, and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ashland.
Ariel was a great host and made us feel welcome straight away.
The house was very clean, with comfortable beds, a great equipped kitchen, nice beds and bathroom. It was really hot while we were there, and the AC and ceiling fans helped keep us cool.
The house is in a great location, walking distance to downtown, across the street from a wonderful park, perfect for playing frisbee, walking a dog, or playing on the play ground.
I would recommend Ariel's CC City Cottage to anyone looking for a modest place to stay for several days while in Ashland. We were a group of 6 adults (grandparents, parents, 2 older teens) who stayed for two nights with a full day of theater in between. The house was a little crowded, especially with only one bathroom, but we were equally crowded in our house back home. The house was very clean, well furnished, and adequately stocked. Because we were seeing several plays on the one full day we were there, we used the house primarily for sleeping and related activities. Air conditioning was provided by a window unit in the front room. Although it was August, this a/c unit did a more than adequate job of keeping the place cool during the hours that we were there. There was a ceiling fan in the bedrooms which provided adequate ventilation and cooling over night when the bedroom door was closed. Everything was as I had anticipated, i.e., there were no "surprises". Ariel was very friendly and readily available, if needed. It was obvious that she took great care to provide a comfortable place for us to stay.
Greetings my name is Ariel. I have lived in a variety of areas, mostly on the west coast and then settled in Beautiful Ashland in 1987. I began my career in the LA area as a Vegetarian/Vegan Cook in the early 70's at 'Our Contribution Restaurant' then opened the 'Falafel Factory' next door. Eventually I developed and ran a Vegetarian/Vegan Deli in a natural food store, as well as doing Catering. Wanting to tailor my work around my children's schedule I started a Home Cleaning business & often cook for my clients. Now, I am so Very Happy to host our Ashland Visitors in CC's City Cottage. *WELCOME*
