The Space

Our house is a new, energy-efficient home in one of Memphis's oldest neighborhoods. With a big front porch and an open kitchen, we love to welcome new people to town with a big dose of Southern hospitality. We have a playful cat and a loving dog. The available room will comfortably fit two travelers. An air mattress for a third traveler is available for an additional $10/night.

Guest Access

Guests will be able to use the kitchen and relax in our common areas. There are large bookcases full of good reads and a projector for movie nights.

The Neighborhood

Uptown is a fantastic neighborhood. It's the oldest residential neighborhood in Memphis, with lots of history lurking around every corner. Take a ten minute walk to the Riverfront, or go see Slavehaven (a stop on the Underground Railroad turned museum) only a few blocks away. All of the downtown amenities are within walking distance of the house. It's a great location!

Getting around

It's a four block walk to the trolley line, a three block walk to the bus terminal, and a five minute walk to the River. Downtown amenities are a fifteen minute walk or a quick trolley ride away. The Amtrak terminal is just a mile away. If you arrive by car, parking is definitely included.

  • We had a great stay with Mary and Wes. Very easy going people- and the room was super cute and comfy. Plus it comes with the sweetest dog and cat duo!

  • Wes and Mary were great host. Their house is in the perfect location for a great visit to Beale street.

  • Mary and Wes were very friendly and more than happy to give recommendations of places to eat and things to do.
Their house is in a great location, near the bus terminal and the top of the trolley line (or green bus replacement) making it easy to get downtown.

  • What a comfortable stay we had in Memphis! The location is unbeatable; we could get downtown within minutes. Mary was super accommodating and met up with us to let us in even after we ended up in the city far earlier than planned. Plus, the donuts she treated us to got us hooked-- we took another detour our last morning to pick some more up! The room itself was great, though the cherry on top was getting to hang out with her incredibly friendly dog and curious cat :)

  • Great place, Mary and Wes really helped us out when we proved to be nightmare guests by crashing our car outside their house.

Super friendly, welcomed and helped out with our toddler (when sorting out aforementioned car wreck) made coffee and breakfast every morning; can't thank them enough for their help and hospitality. A great place to stay in Memphis. Thanks again Mary and Wes.

  • My wife and I had a great time with Mary and Wes. They are incredibly welcoming hosts who are eager to share with you their fascinating involvement in Memphis. The room situation was wonderful, as well. The two rooms available for rent in addition to a bathroom take up the second floor of their lovely home, which is convenient for Memphis attractions. Additionally, Mary made us a tasty banana bread and rich grits for breakfast. My wife and I strongly recommend staying with Mary and Wes!

  • This was my first experience with Airbnb. Mary initially explained in detail how the whole process went, and answered every one of my many questions.

When my friend and I arrived in Memphis Wes greeted us and showed us our room and gave us the run down. The house and our room was exactly as shown in the pictures! We arrived right after the other Airbnb guests arrived so it might have been a little stressful, but Wes was nothing but friendly! In the morning Mary was there and made us some breakfast burritos. She was extremely personable and funny!

Great location, shower was hot, and free breakfast. What can't you enjoy about that?!

We truly enjoyed our first experience with Airbnb and with Wes and Mary, and if I find myself in Memphis in the near future I'll definitely be coming back!

  • Mary and Wes were incredible hosts! Welcoming, laid back, nice and overall lovely! We didn't have the chance to talk that much due to the tightness of our schedule, although they made sure we had keys, breakfast with homemade Muffin and Buns (What a plus!) and all the informations we need about Memphis!

Location is really close to Beale Street and the city center and fairly safe and nice, the room looks exactly as in the pictures and the bathroom is clean and cool.

    Definitely recommended!

Hey y'all, we're Mary and Wes, and we love Memphis. We run an urban farmer training school together called Roots Memphis Farm Academy and what keeps us going is our love of good food. Wes has traveled extensively through Europe, and if you give him the chance, he would LOVE to tell you about the two years he spent in Italy. Mary has traveled through east Africa and misses it dearly. Last year, we both got to travel to Costa Rica together, and it was one of the most beautiful places either of us had ever seen. These days, farming keeps us pretty busy, but in our spare time, Wes loves to go listen to all of the awesome live music that Memphis has to offer. Mary loves to have potlucks with her friends. They have also been known to watch a good episode of the Colbert Report or Battlestar Gallactica over a glass of wine. We absolutely love our city, and we hope we get to help make your stay in Memphis incredible!
