This is a great location for travelers wanting to be near restaurants and beaches. The employees were very friendly and responsive. The views were magnificent! We saw sloths and monkeys from our balcony. We loved our room but spent a lot of time on the balcon, because it was so beautiful. The only negative for us was that it was on a busy, loud road. It didn't bother us much while we were in our room but it did hinder our experience while at the pool. Also, the fumes from the traffic was unfortunate.

Condo was very nice, view was beautiful. Clean inside, water was warm in shower. Bed felt very old -may need to replace soon. The complex is quite hilly so there are quite a few steep stairs to climb up and down to get to the condo. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Sheryl is the manager and she wasn't uber friendly - saw her twice swimming in the pool with 2 of her male friends gossiping about guests. Very unprofessional and inappropriate. We were actually quite embarassed hearing them, especially since they were in the hotel/condo complex pool mid-afternoon with guests around. Breakfast was tasty but the same thing is served every morning so if you stay more than 2-3 days you may want to look elsewhere for breakfast (& have to pay for it). Recommenation to consider -rotating the breakfast served - even if there are 2 or 3 options you rotate out. Overall enjoyed our stay!

John, If I am reading your review correctly it appears that you felt “slighted” by me during your stay here. Hence your attempt to publicly malign me personally as well as "the men” I was talking to in the swimming pool. The topics of our conversation were varied as we were playing catchup . However for the record, badmouthing my guests was not one of them. Villas Nicolas can often have up to 65 guests at this time of year .They range in age ,nationality, gender, and gender preference. At the moment, almost half of our rooms are occupied by return guests who stay for a week plus and have been enjoying our facility for many years. Some of them are grandparents ,some are young professionals, some are Gay professionals .What we all share in common is respect for one another and a love for this country..its fabulous weather, biodiversity ,Pura Vida and this little gem called Villas Nicolas. The Gay couple I was chatting with in the pool are such guests. This is their 15th year staying with us. We are a Gay friendly condo hotel. Simply put,"we are open to everyone who is open to us.” BTW: Manuel Antonio is a gay friendly destination and has been since tourism first took hold here in the early 90’s. Your veiled homophobia ,rudeness to my staff who have also been here for over a decade, and rudeness with one of the tour companies that you booked ,did not encourage me to seek you out especially given the fact that there were so many other wonderful people for me to touch base with. On a separate note ,our pillow top mattresses are made by a German company and were all replaced approximately 4 years ago.

Villas Nicholas was truly amazing in every aspect. Very friendly and informative staff, great views, and delicious food. Manual Antonio is a travelers paradise. From hiking the national park looking at sloths and monkeys, to resting on the beach enjoying sunset views. If I had to change anything, I would have liked to have a working safe in the room, as opposed to a locked closet. The nearby town of Quepos is very rough around the edges, so don't wander down the wrong street at night. And don't expect to walk everywhere, the traffic drives fast and reckless.

This place is perfect. Excellent location in Manuel Antonio. Close to many good restaurants and situated between the beach and the marina. 20 minute walk to the beach or take a 5-7 min bus ride for 60 cents. The room looked exactly as pictured and described on the website. Perfect for a couple. Very clean with daily maid service. Has AC, pool, and wifi. Beautiful view. The staff- Julio and Alexandra were so helpful and pleasant. It was so nice to see their smiling faces everyday and easy to book our activities through them even at the last minute. My boyfriend hurt his ankle and Sheryl arranged for her friend to give us a ride to the local clinic to procure crutches. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to come back.

Amazing place to stay. The view was simply stunning, and the whole condo was just gorgeous. Great restaurant, helpful staff, close to both Quepos and Manuel Antonio, plus walking distance to restaurants and shops nearby. So much wildlife! We had monkeys all over our balcony and in the trees nearby every day. We had a fantastic stay here :)

This was our last stop in Costa Rica, and we are thrilled that we got the opportunity to stay here. Our stay had absolutely everything we could need to feel absolutely relaxed-- from included breakfast, an incredible view, a wonderful room, and a great location. The staff was extremely helpful, giving recommendations and helping us make dinner reservations that ended up being some of the most wonderful experiences we could have imagined. The location is wonderful, with just a short ride to Manuel Antonio National Park. The onsite restaurant is delicious, as was breakfast, and everything else was within walking distance. Our stay here went above and beyond our expectations, and we look forward to coming back in the future!

My friend and I just got back from the most wonderful week in Costa Rica, 4 days of which were spent at Villas Nicolas and the surrounding area. We cannot sing the praises of Villas Nicolas enough! The location is perfect - outside of Quepos on the way to Manuel Antonio, and walking distance from some of the top rated restaurants, cafes, and boutiques in the area. The staff is super helpful and friendly - never tried to sell us on anything but definitely had the best recommendations and connections for local activities. The onsite restaurant and bar is really great, too - they always had guests from other neighboring hotels because the food is so good (breakfast is included, ftw!). In terms of accommodations, the photos speak for themselves. The rooms are very private and relaxing, with beautiful views of the ocean and rainforest. You control the AC, the verandas are perfect for enjoying a bottle of wine from the market 3 min down the road, and the pool area is the picture of a tropical vacation. We will definitely be back. Pro tips: no Spanish needed, no car needed (you can walk, activities provide shuttles, and there are taxis or a super cheap public bus for getting to MA or into Quepos), bug spray and sunscreen imperative.
