The room is spartanly furnished, but spacious. It is situated 10 minutes from the F train, and is served by the M21, M22, and M14 A/D bus lines.
Spacious room. Faces garden. Always leave at least a day between guest stays, to avoid check-in/out overlapping.
Bedroom and bathroom.
Love to share info on NYC and answer questions.
Quiet, but close to all the Lower East Side action.
M14, M21, M22 Bus Lines
F Subway Line (Delancey St. Station and East Broadway Station)
Local Car Services (Delancey Car Service, New Day Car Service) - Just say 550J Grand. 5 min at the door.
CitiBike right across. Several more close by.
There is a $25 surcharge on single-day stays, booked more than 3 days into the future, for scheduling reasons.
Gil was more than accommodating. Everything you could possibly need was made available. Gil is a friendly person and a great guy. I hope I have the opportunity to stay here again.
Gil was a very welcoming host and was waiting for me when I arrived. The room was definitely large and spacious for Manhattan standards. I stayed 2 nights during a cold weekend but the room was still very warm. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a short term stay. It worked out well for me I was only staying there for a couple nights and then checking into a company paid hotel later. Gil was kind enough to call a car service to drive me to the hotel.
I was visiting NYC for the day.
Gil was attentive and quick to respond and very hospitable. He helped me with directions and provided a map for me to take around the city.
The apartment is being remodeled. The bedroom and bathroom are unaffected during the construction which is all I really needed.
Overall good experience.
My five day stay with Gil was very pleasant. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and cozy. As a host, Gil was extremely kind and accommodating. He is also a very well rounded and cultured individual. His knowledge of the architecture within New York and the world was quite impressive! It felt like i was chatting with another architect. Great stay for a very modest price!
My friend and I visited NYC during new year and we stayed at Gil's for 3 nights. Gil had been extremely kind/helpful/responsible and had always provided us with more than what we needed. Gil's hospitality had also extended to sharing his great knowledge of the city and of many other cities/cultures/fields with us - he spent lots of time introducing us to the places that we would like to visit and showing us means of communication. After all, it was great having someone like Gil to talk to!
As for living conditions, although the living room and kitchen were under renovation, we did not need to use those areas and what we needed, bathroom and bedroom, had everything that was needed, not to mention they were very clean, spacious and warm during the cold winter.
Considering the good location (5-10mins walk to F train, in quiet and convenient neighborhood that is close to the artsy Williamsburg in Brooklyn), good living condition, and most importantly great host, I would definitely stay at Gil's again in the future!
Great value for money! 5 min from subway station Essex St-Delancey.Within walking distance from Chinatown and Little Italy. Gil is a very helpful host, always ready to recommend great NYC spots.
Wide room in a convenient location, in the LES, close to everything.
Gil was a very nice host, very friendly and always willing to help and recommend places to visit. He has a vast knowledge of NYC, related to Art, Exhibits, Architecture, Bars & Restaurants, and any other places you consider interesting to visit.
Thank you Gil for your warm welcome and good disposition.
Staying with Gilbert was great! He was super friendly, helpful and attentive.
The room is currently under renovations (which he states clearly) and was in perfect condition for my two night trip. It's sparse, a bed, a few chairs, a window overlooking the courtyard park, and a bathroom just outside the room. Everything I needed.
He provided bedding and towels.
The apartment is a 10 min walk from the F train (which is perfect because you walk past Doughnut Park if you take Grand -- amazing donuts! I had once every day I was there ;-)
The F train gets you to and from LGA very easily as well as into DUMBO and up to Central Park, Times Square, etc. The subway system is really quite easy to use. Check out the Embark app for iphone (maybe android too?) -- it's the best subway map out there and has schedules, delays, etc. It made my trip so very, very easy.
I was all over that city in the few days I was there and Gilbert's place was perfectly located in the heart of everything.
Gilbert was the best host ever. He is a very helpful, very communicative and friendly. He alsa helped me getting to know NY and answered all my questions. He is now a good friend of mine.
I stayed at Gilbert's for 5 days in October. The apartment is located in a quiet residential area that is 5-10 minutes walk from the subway and the lively restaurant/bar/café area in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, while also close to the fashionable Williamsburg district of Brooklyn. The room is very large and Gilbert is in the process of renovating so is receptive to ideas to improve it. He's an intelligent, interesting and relaxed host who has lived all over the world.
