About this listing
Baan Rim Nam is a five room guesthouse on the Klong Prao river estuary. We're 300 metres canoe paddle or 100 metres walk from the beach. For the past 3 years we've been rated as one of the 'Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Thailand' by Tripadvisor
Stay in our renovated fisherman's houses built on the mangrove lined bank of the Klong Prao river estuary. The only place of it's type on the west coast of Koh Chang.
Only 300 metres canoe paddle or 150 metres walk - through the coconut field- to the quietest stretch of beach on the west coast of Koh Chang. No loud bars or traffic noise - guaranteed.
We have 5 ensuite, AC rooms in two adjacent stilt houses. Rooms are around 1,100 Baht per night in High Season.
Access is by boat or along an 80 metre long wooden walkway through the mangroves.
This is what Lonely Planet had to say: "Run by some of the most helpful people on Koh Chang, this converted fisherman's house turned guesthouse teeters over the river in the mangroves. Free kayaks let you explore up river or down to the beach (under 5 minutes) and offshore islands. Rooms are spotless and the estuary keeps the whole place relatively cool."
“Peaceful, scenic and unusual, this converted fishing family's house is built on stilts over the wide, attractive khlong at the end of a walkway through the mangroves. Run by the British author of the best Ko Chang website it has just three comfortable aircon bedrooms with free wifi plus a big deck for soaking up the khlongside village but no restaurant. You can borrow kayaks and it's a couple of minutes walk to the beach." Rough Guide to Thailand's Islands and Beaches 2009, page 215
And from (URL HIDDEN) “This out-of-the-way guesthouse is set in one of the most gorgeous spots on the island."
So, if you want a vacation on Koh Chang but don't want to feel like a tourist and want something with a bit more charm than just another bungalow on a beach . . . you know where to stay.
Interaction with Guests
I'm usually around and will be happy to answer any questions you have and give you tips on what to see and do and where to eat during your time on the island.
We're near Klong Prao village, which isn't just touristy shops. You'll find good cheap restaurants and get to see some local life too. If you want beer bars, parties, lots of western food or souvenir shops then you'll need to go to White Sand or Lonely beach.
We're 15 minutes walk from the village. If you want to go to other beaches then we can call a local taxi or we have a couple of scooters for rent.
