Interaction with Guests
If you'd like suggestions on restaurants, cultural activities and great neighbourhoods to explore, I am always more than happy to share my love of the city with newcomers.
Little Burgundy is a quiet residential neighbourhood with leafy family friendly streets just a 10-minute walk from downtown Montreal.
Also a 10-minute walk is a great strip of restaurants, cafes and small boutiques on Notre-Dame Ouest, right near the Corona Theatre and the much-lauded restaurant, Joe Beef.
A 15-minute walk away is Atwater Market, with farmers' stands as well as gourmet food shops.
And you're just a five-minute bike ride to the Lachine Canal, which leads into Old Montreal.
Central and easy to get around:
- one block from the Georges-Vanier metro and a Bixi station
- 4 metro stops from Old Montreal and 7 stops to the Plateau
Free street parking is available
Other Things to Note
One thing to note is that I have a toddler and live directly above the apartment. The soundproofing is quite good and our bedrooms are two floors away.
I make a point of trying to minimize the sound my son and his toys make, but we do have breakfast at 6:45am on weekdays, and will be right above you, so there will be some inevitable pitter patter of feet or dropping of toys.

An apartment like this one is the wish of most of us using Airbnb. An incredibly well designed, comfortable, and conveniently located space for our four weeks in Montreal. The rooms are a very generous size for a studio because they are the bottom floor of a Montreal townhouse typical of those built in the 1880's. These rooms have been tastefully renovated with modern furnishings. The bed linens and towels are first class and felt so good after our long, long walks during the days. A full size washer and dryer! We love this host! Sophie is a fountain of information and suggestions to enjoy the city like a native. Downtown is walkable from here or you can take the George Vanier metro which is a very, very short distance from the apartment. The Lachine canal (linear park) is very close for walking, biking, jogging. My wife and I like to walk a lot in order to get a real feel for a city and we were glad to have so much available within a walk from Sophie's place. We were there when the Spring was already late but we were so rested after each day that the cooler-than-normal weather did not dampen our interest. We live in Florida and we need a big city "fix" once in a while and Montreal is truly one of North America's great cities. We have always lived in large cities and crime is a natural concern when choosing any place to stay. The Little Burgundy neighborhood felt incredibly safe during our weeks there. To quote one comedian, "This ain't no 'residential district! This is a NEIGHBORHOOD!'". If your hopes are up before you arrive, this apartment will be a pleasant surprise and a relief after a day's traveling.
I would suggest a long walk along the formerly industrial Lachine canal. You will notice many high rise condominiums being built or re-purposed from the giant old warehouses and factories along the canal. The locals apparently have a great desire to live in this urban location. Gentrification is humming here.
Things noticed: (1) Canada is more expensive than we had anticipated (2) Hockey is more fun to watch than I would have imagined and I am not a sports fan. (3) Americans need mass transit like that available in the rest of civilization. (4) Maple syrup tastes good on ANYTHING. (5) "Poutine" is better than I thought it would be, but I still am not a fan of that part of the menu. (6) Only in Montreal would you find two historic enemies (Brits and French) memorialized in the same place: Place (Jaques) Cartier in Old Montreal has a very tall monument to the famous Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson. (7) Are the homeless in any other big city bilingual...or trilingual?!
We absolutely loved our stay at this cozy little apartment and plan to stay here again next time we're in town. Clean, convenient, modern and very sweet. And Sophie is a wonderful host.
An amazing place to stay. Beautiful and thoughtful design, enough space, very comfortable bathroom, well-equipped kitchen and cosy sofa. Sophie is very friendly and helpful. We had a great stay.
We had a great experience staying at Sophie's place. Cute apartment, as pictured. The metro stop was just around the corner and was super convenient for getting downtown. Also plenty of shops / restaurants in walking distance. Sophie was very easy to communicate with and was very thoughtful in terms of giving us tips for street parking, leaving guidebooks, and coffee :-)
Great deal, great time -- would definitely recommend.
I stayed at Sophie's apartment for one month whilst I was attending a training course in Montreal. I was totally impressed and happy with the apartment and with Sophie. She made extra effort to make sure I was ok. The apartment didn't have a kettle, and so Sophie brought me a kettle when I told her I'm a tea drinker and then she also brought a tea pot! The place was spotless and had everything I needed. I was there in summer just recently and although the apartment was equipped with fans, I didn't use them as I found the apartment cool enough. I'm used to hot cities but anyway, the fans are there if needed. Definitely do not need air con. I can't comment on the winter as I wasn't there. I found the location most convenient. I could walk to my training and also the metro, all very close. The street is nice and family orientated.
Sophie was very considerate and kept checking to see if I was ok and if I needed anything.
The apartment, aside from being spotless, was just completely awesome and comfortable. The bed is super comfy and the shower works really well. I didn't spend much time there during the day but when I was there, which was mostly at night, the place was quiet and easy to rest. I loved it so much and wished I was staying longer. Felt very at home.
Sophie went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had a great time in Montreal! She made amazing food recommendations daily and genuinely cared about helping us making the most of our vacation. The space is gorgeous; well decorated, comfortable, and nice and cozy warm which definitely helped when our vacation often saw -15 and -20C! It's also very central which was helpful when the weather was freezing -- lots of places to eat and play just minutes away! We haven't got a single complaint. This place was more than perfect! We even half joked that we'd live there permanently and discussed how willing we'd be to give up all our own stuff for the luxury -- in a heartbeat!
We will most definitely be looking to stay here again in the near future.
