Sunny Room in Convenient Location

House - Private room · Kigali, Kigali, Rwanda

The Space

Come stay at our lovely home in the beautiful neighborhood of Nyarutarama. Nyarutarama is a great neighborhood, just 15 minutes from the Kigali airport, and 15 minutes from town center.

You will have your own room, bathroom en suite and balcony. The room is spacious. When we don’t have AirBnB guests Christina will teach private yoga lessons, or we’ll set up our projector to watch movies on the opposite wall. You’ll have access to a fully appliance stocked kitchen and house staff who can wash laundry and assist if anything needs fixing.

We are a 10 minute walk from the MTN center, a staple reference point for all expatriates. The center has a coffee shop, restaurants, ATM, grocery store, phone services, dry cleaners and taxi drivers.

We're expats in our mid to late 20s who like to share our large home. Since we've all been in Kigali for a couple of years we can help with recommendations of places to visit or where to grab some food, we're happy to help! If you would like to be connected with the local scene, all are welcome to join us for dinners or nights on the town. We’re all professionals, so our house is relaxed and calm during the week, with the exception of the occasional dinner party.

We provide a welcome packet when your reservation is approved to help introduce you to Rwanda. If you're lucky you'll catch Poppy making chocolate chip banana bread muffins. Her specialty!

  • So, if six stars were possible Poppy would get them! I'd have no second thoughts in suggesting these wonderful people as hosts in their beautiful and perfectly located home in Kigali. From the muffins and note that welcomed us on our arrival to the endless help and suggestions during our stay, Poppy was great to us, thank you. The bedroom was clean, cozy, and with all needed amenities, with plenty of private space. Couldn't of asked for more. Great conversation as well. Our time in Rwanda was great and at the end of a long day of exploring it was great to know we had such a wonderful place to come home to. Hope to see you all again. Evan, Robin, and CJ!

  • Probably the best place to crash in Kigali. Their place is clean, their water is hot and their neighborhood is conveniently located. There's even a cat!

Sadly Rachel and Christina were out of town, but Poppy was an incredible host - super friendly and very helpful in terms of sightseeing and restaurants.

    Two words: stay here.

  • If you are in Kigali, stay with these ladies! The house is huge and beautiful, and the hosts are a god, social group who are a lot of fun. I've spent a fair amount of time in East Africa (mostly in Tanzania) and was expecting something far less luxurious than this. Instead, I found a comfortable, cool house, my own clean bathroom, relatively stable electricity, and beautiful views. Rachel, Poppy, and their other roommate, Emma, were gracious hosts and always willing to give directions and recommendations on things to do, and to invite you along with their plans. The first night I was there, they hosted a dinner party, which was a lot of fun and I was able to meet a number of other expats living in Rwanda. The house is also very close to the MTN Center where there is an ATM, grocery store, forex, and Bourbon Coffee, if you need a cup of joe and some wifi.
Kigali is gorgeous and you should definitely take the time to visit, and if you do, absolutely stay here!

  • I had the opportunity to stay with Christina, Rachel, Poppy & Emma during my recent trip to Rwanda. The hospitality they showed was amazing. They helped with all the small details that make a trip comfortable and enjoyable…they helped with recommendations on the local restaurants, best ways to get around the city and weekend logistics for tourist activities. It's also important to note the location of their house is great to access anywhere in the city…and also a great neighborhood for a morning run. Most importantly they treated me like a family friend taking the time to invite me to their local social gatherings. I would HIGHLY recommend them as a wonderful host for anyone traveling through Rwanda.

  • Still cant believe how lucky I was to end in this place..

The house is beautiful and big so you can have your private space and time without noticing the rest of people or spend time with the rest of the house mates reading, watching movies, cooking or just laying on the sofa and chatting.

Christina. Rachel and Poppy are amazing persons that made me feel at home from the very beginning and were really helpful introducing me to other people and showing me around the city. They are all very different and really interesting people, and above all.. really fun!

If you have the opportunity don't hesitate it and stay as long as you can here.

About
We are young, professional girls who like to host at our home. Americans and One Brit. Rachel and Poppy have been here for about 2 years so know the city and Rwanda well and Emma is fast becoming an expert. Between the 3 of us, one of us is usually running, hiking or practicing yoga. Two of us loves to cook and bake while one of us is incapable of making anything edible. We are all very different people but enjoy watching movies on our projector together. We have a very eccentric cat who is loveable and cuddly.
