This beautiful spacious home is located just 3.1km from Thapae Gate. The house is close enough to the old town area to experience the more popular temples, sights and tourist activities but far enough away to remain a haven of peace and tranquility. So make yourself at home. Retreat to the garden under the shade of a palm tree, fix yourself a meal just the way you like it or sip a coffee and catch up on emails in one of the many hang out spaces available
Our Home: Several large relaxing areas, 2 office/ work spaces, 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, 2 bathrooms w/ electric water heaters, open kitchen, and an upstairs balcony with hammock. In the garden grows large palms, bamboo, banana trees, herbs, flowers and many other native plants. There is also a pond/ fountain (home to turtles and koi fish), garden terrace with seating and low table and chairs on front patio.
Extras: Secure high speed internet, plenty of safe drinking water and a barbecue are also available to our guests. If requested, an extra twin size bed can be provided and arranged for upstairs. Also, our house is located next to the Eco Resort with access to a large secluded pool (100 thb if you stop in the office).
Kitchen - Please feel free to use anything you find in the kitchen including any teas, spices, food, condiments, etc. Also we brew homemade kombucha, a fermented tea that has many health benefits. Ready to drink jars are located in the food cupboard on the top right. Mama kombucha is brewing in the cabinet under the stove, please do not disturb.
We hope to provide our guests with as much information/advise/recommendations during "check in" to make our guests feel at home. Once situated the house is all yours!
The Neighborhood: Our home is near many outdoor markets, delicious Thai street food, a western supermarket, bus station (Arcade), train station, Ping River, and several restaurants and bars.
a. Bicycles can be rented on the corner of Bumrung rd and Kaeo Nawarat near our house for ~150 thb/day.
b. Tuk Tuks cost roughly 50 baht based on distance, with higher fares late at night. Easy to find on any major road, just wave one down and settle on a fair before getting in.
c. Song Taos (red trucks) cost roughly 20 baht/ person for shared rides within the city. More for private hirer or late at night. For shared rides, the driver determines his own route as passengers get on and off.
From the airport simply take a 20 minute taxi to Eco Resort (~150 THB) and our house is just around the corner, 2nd house on the left, down the road directly across from the British Council.
Other Things to Note:
Boundaries in Thailand, such as the division between indoor and outdoor spaces, can often blur. As a result of such open air living environments, brace yourself for a full spectrum of surrounding sounds ranging from morning songbirds and late night frog symphonies to neighborly chatting and the barking dog. Perhaps you will hear none of these sounds, perhaps you will hear them all as each varies on a daily basis.
Also, unfortunately with tropical climates come pesky mosquitoes, sometimes lots of them! The tennis racket looking devices are used for zapping, hold down button on side while you swing! Mosquito coils are also provided, located on the front patio table. Keeping the indoor fans on inside helps too!
We will do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible and look foward to meeting and sharing with you more about the city we call home!

we (5 people) stayed at libby's place for a week and we liked it a lot. there was a lot of drinking water provided for us for free. The 2 terrasses were very nice to hang out. there are a lot of tuktuks and red busses, that take you into town but you can also easily walk there. the 2 bedrooms were very comfortable, but the additional fifth bed was rather hard and quite small. the dogs in the neighborhood were houwling very loud sometimes, especially in the early morning. appart from that, we really enjoyed the place!
We stayed at Libby's nd Daniel's garden home for two weeks over Christmas and New Years Eve. Our three children (and we) were delighted by the garden and the spacious house - so many inspiring spots where they could play! The house really is an oasis with its secluded garden!
Libby took good care of us and was always there to help or give advice. When there was no running water (due to an accident at a construction site on the main street) she visited us several times - which helped us enormously to keep up the moral ;-) Thank you, Libby!
The place is located very conveniently: There are delicious food stalls just a 5min walk away and to go to the city we waved down a song tao on the main street.
Daniel and Libby have a great home in Ching Mai! The place was exactly as described and Libby & Daniel were very helpful. I highly recommend, especially if you are a group requiring multiple bedrooms, enjoy the use of a kitchen and appreciate a uniquely appointed home.
There are two quibbles we had with Daniel and Libby's place. First, we found two unopened condoms under one of the guest bedrooms during our stay. Secondly, the bathroom sink in one of their bathrooms came crashing down on my mother as she washed her hands. My mother was not hurt, but it was a frightening experience for her and limited us to one bathroom for the remainder of our stay.
Thanks Robert, we are glad to hear you, Ann and your mother enjoyed your stay!
Again, we are deeply sorry to hear about your grievances. We work very hard to make each guests stay feel as cozy and comfortable as possible. We are happy to receive your feedback and will continuously work to perfect the service at our garden home.
I am still perplexed how the bathroom sink independently came crashing down off the wall and again apologize that I was not able to fix it entirely before the plumber was able to arrive.
Thanks again and I hope your remaining travels went well!
We had a great time in Chiang Mai.
Daniel provided us with information about the house and the neighbourhood. It was very easy to communicate with Daniel and Libby. They are reliable hosts and they provided us with drinking water which was fantastic.
The house is with its two levels a large house, clean, pretty and a beautiful patio. Everything was as described including the full spectrum of surrounding sounds. The house is located 4km from the center of the old city. I fully recommend Daniel and Libby as hosts.
My dad, wife and I had a wonderful time staying at Dan's great house in Chian(website hidden)oved the setting, the hamock on the 2nd floor patio, the food and coffee awaiting us in the fridge and all the great info provided about how to make the most of our time in the city.
