We had a nice stay at Khalid's house, the place is pretty close from the city center (10min by bus from the center) and it was nice having our own kitchen. The shower wasn't working really well and the place might needed a little renovation. Though Khalid was really friendly.
Khalid was very friendly & keen to be helpful. We arrived late & he helped us find last dinner locally. He also offered to drive us into the city & pick us up to enjoy the city night life. We were way to tired from a day of hiking but appreciated the offer. The bedroom is spacious, clean & nice. The set up of the toilet & shower is a little strange, not as clean as what we like, very small/cramped & you are sharing with an elderly man renting a room on the same floor. Khalid did offer use of the shower in his part of the house if wanted. This place was perfect for a brief over night stay. However we would not choose to stay here for a longer time due to the toilet & shower set up as described above.
Great location and place. Khalid's wife welcomed us with sweet water the room was clean and had some eggs and extras in the fridge. The house is very easy to get to (take bus 1 (32 NOK) from the city center near the lake. The room for 2 is large and the kitchen has enough to do what you need. The bathroom is shared but there are locks on all doors so no problem. Thanks Khalid!
Khalid and his wife were very friendly and kind people and I would definitely recommend their room/apartment to everyone who's looking for a place to stay in beautiful Stavanger. The bus stop is 20 meters away from the house and it takes about 5-6 minutes to reach the city centre. We were offered the top floor of the house with a kitchen box, toilet and a shower. The room was clean and tidy, when we arrived and we did not miss anything at all for the whole period of stay :)
Khalid was very flexible and his space was conveniently located shortly outside the city (but easily accessible by bus). He gave us a lovely meal on the first night we arrived which was nice since we had been traveling all day. The configuration of the space was a little confusing and unconventional, but still functional. Thanks Khalid!
My stay at Khalid's was interesting to say the least. I had no problem getting into the room, I was just a little confused at first because the room I stayed in was the room pictured. It ended up being a much bigger room with its own kitchen, which was nice. I personally just found the bathroom a bit strange and overall the whole place could have been a bit cleaner. I personally have dust allergies and found myself sneezing quite a bit. It was nice how flexible Khalid was with my check out, I had a train late at night, so I was able to leave later in the day. The room did the job for the two nights I was in Stavanger, I just felt a little weird while I was there.
Khalid was helpful and friendly and the room was just what we needed for a base for visiting Stavanger and the surrounding area. His wife was also really kind and let us use the washing machine and a drying rack. It was great to have a kitchen and although there wasn't a huge amount of space, it was good value for money.
If I had one negative point, it was that there was a bit of a DIY approach to the flat; so the door locked with a padlock rather than a proper key, and there was no door to the shower so you had to lock the outer door to the room instead. I don't want to put anyone off though, because it really didn't bother us, but it is best to not have any surprises! We stayed for 4 days and it was perfect for that length of time.
