They come from many different traditions and spiritual paths in a common recognition and respect for the power of this place. We can also arrange taxi transport from the Mexico City airport or from Mexico City.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the adjacent house so we are available for any questions, to resolve any problems, or to make any arrangements guests might need.
We're in the center of the village, so the church and plaza are just around the corner, as well as the "recauderia" (veggie shop), the "polleria" (chicken shop), "carniceria" (meat shop), "panaderia" (bread shop) - everything you need for a truly authentic Mexican village experience and meal cooking experience! We're happy to give you a thorough orientation to it all when you arrive!
You can come from Mexico City on the Teotihuacanos line bus, or we can arrange a safe secure taxi to pick you up. You can get around the area here using the local "combi" mini-bus service - to get into San Juan Teotihuacan for example, which is a larger village a 5 minute drive away on the combi, and has more services like banks, etc.
Other Things to Note
You'll enjoy the privacy of the house with the easy access to central services in the village.
Please don't smoke inside the apartment - outside on the terrace is fine. Also please do not introduce strangers to the premises - all guests living on the premises must be noted on the contract.
The BIG appartment of Emily and Victor is beuatifull, very well decorated, fully equiped and very clean. Its located 10 minutes walk from the famous Pyramids of Teotihucan (it save you the parking fee of the site ;-)
Emily and Victor are very pleasant host, we arrived very late because we got lost in Mexico city, they were very welcoming and brought us to a little Tacos place next to their house because we didn't had dinner.they let us park our car in their garage and gave us good tips to visit the Pyramids.
Really I highly recommend their place to stay, we were in four and the price for their appartment is much cheaper than any hotels in the area.
I really wish words could describe the wonderful experience we had here! Emily & Victor are truly some of the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met in my travels. Very knowledgeable of the spiritual connection and history of the area. Truly a special place, and a great family :)
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We experienced the warmth and comfort of a modern home in this simple village setting. The pyramids are a 20-minute walk. In the morning we were able to see hot air balloons from the bedroom window. Emily and Victor were extremely gracious and accommodating hosts. The apartment is immaculate and offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plus, filled with beautiful art.
Casa Tonantzin was out very first experience of Mexico (we took a taxi from the airport) and it really couldn't have been a better place to start our trip! The apartment is fantastic - spacious and beautifully decorated. The beds are really comfortable (with cosy warm covers if the nights are chilly), the bathroom is great (good, hot shower) and the kitchen is fully equipped. There’s a lovely little, and very private, terrace too.
Perhaps most importantly the location is amazing – easy walking distance to the pyramids (there are frequent buses if you’re not a walker), plus the house is right in the middle of a very nice un-touristy village with a pretty little church, plenty of little shops and places to grab a bite to eat, and some good food stands on the main square. Everyone was very friendly, and Emily and her family are a delight! We could have chatted for ages and we were so sad that we had to leave.
We booked only 2 nights and really regretted that we couldn’t stay longer. We’d recommend at least 3 nights to be able to do the place and all it has to offer justice. We hope we’ll be back sometime soon!
I thoroughly enjoyed staying in Casa Tonantzin. The house is charming, spacious and very conveniently located. Emily was a great host, she made me feel right at home. She helped me get oriented with the town and where everything was, how to catch the van ( combi ) to Teotihuacan (which really is in walking distance) or San Juan the other town next to the Pyramids. It was a very special trip for me and she made it even more special with her friendship and radiant spirit! I recommend staying at Casa Tonantzin it’s so much better than a hotel and you still have the privacy since the house is separated from the main house. I will be back!!
About the Host, Emily & Victor
Emily Grieves and Victor Reyes Contla - I am American and Victor is Mexican - we met and married here in Mexico after I visited the pyramids of Teotihuacan on a spiritual journey. I am a painter and Victor is a soccer coach, and we have a 7 year old son. Victor's parents own the Dreaming House retreat center here in Teotihuacan, and I help run it for them, so we have years of experience working with visitors to the pyramids. Our interaction with visitors led us to fulfill our dream of constructing and creating Casa Tonantzin together, and it is our hope that you will visit us, and also receive the incredible energy and blessings this place has to offer. We especially love creative guests! We've had people stay long-term who have created music, art, poetry, and all kinds of new ideas in the space - not to mention some lovely dinners we've shared! We look forward to seeing you!
