A view of the kitchen with medium sized fridge and cabinets and stove. Plenty of plates, glasses, and everything else.
Hi all! I try to get back to everyone as quickly as possible but that can be difficult when traveling and in the thick of it with work. I love my apartment though and really enjoy sharing it with others. I took a long break from Airbnb in the past year as the neighborhood was affected by Hurricane Sandy. We are back and better than ever though and thrilled to be back to sharing my home. Please read carefully below though before writing to see about availability--I have been overly swamped with requests, many of which aren't right for the space, and I want to ensure I can get back to everyone promptly. One caveat up front though: I'm sorry but I can not accommodate families with young children for safety reasons because of a high second floor loft. Sorry but I am much more comfortable this way. In any event my experience and that of my guests have been absolutely fantastic. So if you are looking for a large but comfy place in NY/Brooklyn read on and get in touch!
I am so happy to rent my huge gorgeous loft in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn--a fantastic growing community on the water in Brooklyn. The space is absolutely wonderful with over 1,500 square feet of floorspace and 15 foot ceilings. Perfectly lofted with stained wide pine boards and vintage wallpaper. Large fully equipped kitchen, long dining table for entertaining, comfortable first floor bedroom with giant living room featuring custom couches, tables, vintage chairs, a gigantic library, and video projector. Upstairs features an additional sitting area/office and possible sleeping for additional guests.
Perfect for a couple traveling New York and looking for a peaceful and unique base to explore Brooklyn and other parts of the city. A great place to entertain, cook, and relax. I take great pride in my home, having built all the rooms and carefully selecting unique objects and art. I feel like I am on a vacation when I am home--it is a very special space!
Red Hook and the close neighborhood of Carroll Gardens is one of my favorite spots in the city with a vibrant artist community, great restaurants, and bars featuring the best cocktails in the city!

We had such a great time at Mark's place. The apartment is huge and impeccably furnished with beautiful touches throughout. The kitchen is full stocked and great for cooking. Mark greeted us late in the evening and gave us some great suggestions for restaurants and shops in the area (and left us a lovely bottle of Beaujolais!). We loved the Redhook area as it was quiet yet full of fun little places to explore -- only an 8 minute walk to the F/G subway which will take you pretty much anywhere you want to go. Thanks again Mark -- really appreciated everything!!
Mark's apartment was perfect for our Brooklyn getaway weekend! The space is impeccably decorated and Mark himself is clearly extremely thoughtful and welcoming to his Airbnb guests. Thanks again!
Mark was the perfect host, extremely quick to respond and completely organized through the booking and key exchange process. His place is beautiful with special touches that really make you feel welcome. I highly recommend you choose Mark's loft as your BK home away from home!
Mark and his beautiful loft was such a great place to stay during our 5 day/4 night stay in Brooklyn. While the area is a bit tucked away, it never matters for us! We leave the house early in the morning and don't return until later in night. It took us about 30-40 minutes to get to Manhattan via the subway (including walking).
The space is inspiring with lots of room to spare. My husband and I stayed in the downstairs room and our friend stayed in the loft up above. The character and craftsmanship is so apparent. We met Mark and were in contact with him throughout the weekend. He was so helpful and available. I would highly recommend his space.
My husband, daughter and I stayed at Mark's this past weekend for a wedding in Red Hook. Like many, this was our first experience with AirBNB. Couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. Mark was kind enough to meet my daughter for the key even though she was hours later than expected. His apartment was well appointed - lots of pots and pans to cook with, comfortable beds and furniture with a wonderfully large table for meals. We were within walking distance of our venue and close enough to walk to the hotel where my family members were staying. Car service is located across the street from Mark's apartment and all of the drivers were extremely friendly and helpful. We managed to experience Fort Defiance, Brooklyn Crab and Liberty Warehouse - didn't quite have time for the Good Fork, but we'll be back! Highly recommend this apartment.
I was nervous to use AirBNB at first, but Mark and his Red Hook Brooklyn Loft was perfect for our latest trip to New York. Easy communication and quick. The process couldn't have been easier. My wife, 4-month-old child and myself stayed at Mark's during my brothers wedding weekend in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn. This loft is a short 10min walk to subways, but ask Mark about car services within Brooklyn, you'll want to use them. Mark left us a gift certificate to Fort Defiance (which was a total surprise). Red Hook has some of the best restaurants (Fort Defiance, The Good Fork) and bars (Sunny's) you'll ever visit. Due to his travel schedule we didn't get to meet him and we communicated 100% via text. Honestly, that sounds strange, but his set-up couldn't be easier or more straight forward. We'll be staying at Mark's Loft again for our next trip.
We had a great time staying at Mark's loft in Red Hook. Besides the beautiful and spacious apartment, Mark made the whole process so easy and seamless. We found that the IKEA water taxi was the quickest and cheapest way (free on the weekends) to commute back and forth to Manhattan, and it was only a 10 minute walk from the apartment. Thanks Mark!
I am a big fan of the potential of airbnb but realize it is built on a huge amount of trust. As a guest I will always be respectful of your home and appreciative of seeing new places. As a host I hope you will always enjoy your stay in my lovely home. Other than that I am responsive but casual.
