It was a nice place to stay, the accommodation and Santa Elena. Nice breakfast, nice room (at the time we stayed there was some construction outside and we had no view because of that).
You'll get all the information you need from the host and there's a lot to do.
We were visiting Costa Rica for 10 nights and the 3 first ones were here.
When my girlfriend and I arrived at the airport, the shuttle was already arranged to get to Cabinas Tinas with Jose. He was expecting us and we had a warm welcome with a good coffee!
Jose was instrumental in helping us arrange all activities and transportation while we were staying there and even for the next days we would be at other hotels in other parts of the country.
Her was always available and helpful and his sarcasm is a trait I really can match with so we had a lot of good laughs.
The location is good, just far enough from the city center (not directly in the middle) but easily reachable with a 5 min walk.
The breakfast was good, rooms clean and we were comfortable even without AC as it is a part of the country that is in the mountains so end of April, when we were there, it got cold enough at night to sleep comfortably.
As all other hotels I have visited in Costa Rica, the only "negative" point is that walls are not that thick so ear plugs are useful for light sleepers like me, but that is the case everywhere we went in Costa Rica.
Thanks again for the great service and all the help, we felt really good staying at this place and it was by far the best service we had from hotel personnel in Costa Rica!!
The staff is helpful and friendly, laundry is possible for a good price. The room and common areas are clean. Also, breakfast is included.
That said, here are some additional info we wished we'd known beforehand:
* Kitchen closes at 9 pm.
* Internet workes close to reception and kitchen, only rarely in room.
*The room has a window, but you can't see out of it. This leaves the room feeling a bit like a bunker (something you can't really tell from the photos). This might not be true for all the rooms, but ours and the ones next to it were that way.
* The ocean view... Let's just say you really have to look closely to be able to see it. The mountain view is true though, and it's very nice
*The side street is pretty calm, however we woke up to people building something just outside the bedroom wall, loud radio, shouting, saws and hammers going of a little after 7 am. Be sure to ask for a room not facing the same way as no 11 if your not an early riser and are staying there in the near future.
Tinas cabinas had a bit of hostel feel to it, and for us it was not what we expected or wanted. Still, the nice staff will make us rate it a bit higher.
Camino Verde B&B has a good location in Monteverde.
I appreciated to be able to use the kitchen to cook for dinner, which is a great option when travelling with young children.
José was of good advice for activities and the soda (the second one!) he sent us to was a great experience.
The bedroom we get had a blind window because of on-going works outside. It was a pity but manageable as we did not spend a lot of time in.
Great place, super nice hosts, accommodated all our needs and even helped arrange some adjustments to some of our excursions. Extremely professional and wish I could have stayed longer. A short walk to the main street
Cabinas Tinas Casitas Monteverde was a great choice for our family! They had everything we needed. Though the cabina was a little small for our family of 5, the sizable private bathroom and outdoor courtyard made it more than manageable. The cabinas were very clean and nicely decorated, and the breakfasts were a treat! Andres and Jose were wonderful hosts - accessible, communicative, helpful, professional and friendly. We would definitely stay with them again, and would recommend them to friends looking for a great family hostel type of experience.
Our stay here was great! Andres was super helpful and very accommodating. He booked all of our tours for us which was awesome, I highly recommend the jungle night tour! The fresh breakfast made by his aunt was great! The location was ideal as well, just a 5 minute walk to the main strip. Thanks guys!
