The Space

This is the Master's Bedroom at Coco's Garden.

Coco's Garden Master Bedroom Manila is a large (60 square meter) accommodation in a charming vintage home in a quiet corner of the Paco District of old Manila. The ceilings are tall, with windows all around looking out into the green of the garden. Hardwood floors.

Centrally located, Intramuros and Makati are but a few kilometers away, and access to public transportation is easy. The guest room has its own restroom, with a sink, a toilet, and a shower (with hot water), air-conditioning, with access and use of the house's kitchen and garden. The guest room has Cable TV and broadband wifi.

Healthy local cuisine can be arranged at extra cost and by prior arrangement, including vegetarian and organic. Fresh seafood is constantly available. Filipino cooking lessons are available. Meals (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) can be had for $10/person per meal. Airport pickup/drop-off can be arranged for ($25 US each way).

Smoking is not allowed in the house, but rather on the kitchen porch upstairs, in the garden, or in the covered garden patio. Use of the laundry entails additional fees per load. Dry Cleaning or other required services (transportation, massage, language lessons, etc.) can be arranged.

We have dogs and cats, but they do not stay in the house.

Guest Access

As our guest, you will of course have your private room and private bath(website hidden) addition, the rest of the house is shared with you as well, including the kitchen, the living area, and the garden/patio.

Interaction with Guests

As you will be staying in our home with us, you can expect us to be available for your questions or needs related to your stay with us and your time in the Philippines.

The Neighborhood

Ours is an historical neighborhood dating back to the arrival of Japanese expatriate Catholics in the early 17th-century. In the years prior to WW2, Paco was the part of Manila where artists and some wealthier families lived on large properties, lumber yards proliferated, and some manufacturing was done. The face of Paco has changed mightily over the years, butt vestiges of the old Paco can be found by the intrepid explore

Getting around

We are located near a major intersection where Jeepneys and taxis can be had.

Other Things to Note

We have 4 dogs and 3 cats, all of whom reside outside, and all of whom are highly socialized and friendly to people.

  • The room certainly met expectations. It is exactly as shown in the pictures. Greg quickly replied to my queries and has a pretty cool setup going--the house is a gem in "old" Manila and in itself is an experience to visit. Will be coming backa gain.

  • The accommodation was exactly as shown on the website. The room is huge and very comfortable. We chose this listing to have the opportunity to stay in an original old era home in a quieter area of crazy Manila. We found Greg very friendly and helpful. George was our driver, organized by Greg, collecting us from the airport and return which was great. We walked to Intramuros, and used taxis at very reasonable cost to go to other areas we wanted to visit.

  • Very spacious and beautiful property - within walking distance of Intramuros. Greg was very helpful with explaining the ins and outs of get around Manila. I wasn't in Manila as long as I would have liked due to some complications with my arrival - so would be nice to go back and explore the city. A great base from which to do so. Thanks!

  • Our stay at Coco's was very relaxing and enjoyable. Greg and Jorge are very gracious and generous hosts and their house is a tranquil oasis in the madness of Manila. Do go on a tour with Greg if you have the time as he is an excellent guide for the historical Intramuros area. We sated in the Master bedroom and it is very luxurious and comfortable.

  • We had a wonderful (albeit short!) experience at Coco's Garden. Our host, Greg, was extremely hospitable and made us feel welcome in his beautiful home. The master suite is enormous, comfortable and lovely with its high ceiling and hardwood floors. Antiques collected from around the world fill the house which is also surrounded by a lush garden. If you're interested in getting to know Manila, Coco's Garden is well situated as it's within reasonable walking distance (or a very quick tricycle/taxi ride) of Intramuros, where you can sign up for a historical walking tour. Greg has lived in the Philippines for over two decades and provided useful tips and information for getting around.

  • We spent 2 nights at Coco's Garden and enjoyed our stay. Our host, Greg, was very accommodating, helping us to arrange our transfers from/to the airport, welcoming us and advising us about what we should visit with the short time we had in Manila. The bedroom is comfortable in colonial style surround by a nice garden. Greg can fill you in on the history!

  • Greg is a great host and his house nice and charming. In perfect position to visit Manila and the place you want to be to have a good insight into the city! Being here for more than 20 years and with his experience (email hidden), I had interesting chats on where the country was, is, and is going to go. Strongly recommended!!

  • It's hard to not repeat all the wonderful reviews. Everything on them is totally dead on. Absolutely amazing house, wonderful host, great communication. Two things that stood out for me but not mentioned by other reviewers were the quality of the sheets and the water pressure. Both way beyond anything I've encountered anywhere in SouthEast Asia. The sheets were so soft. Better than any hotel I've ever stayed in for sure. Being surrounded by vegetation also makes it several degrees cooler than the rest of Manila. Coco's is reason enough to extend your Manila stay. Don't think twice. Just book it.

I am an American from San Diego who has resided in Manila for 26 years. I (email hidden) in the historical district of Intramuros. My partner, Jorge, and I have 5 dogs and 4 cats. Our home is an early-independence period wood home, built in the gracious style of that period. With few home in Manila from this period remaining, you are going to experience the old-world style of 70 years ago.
