Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We stayed in the wonderful, modest, vacation apartment in the North Shore and enjoyed the location as well as the gracious host Pia. Pia was a great guide, when we first arrived. She pointed us to the best beaches, getaways, food, and local hidden gems. There were also beach amenities like snorkeling gear, beach towels, and beach chairs that came in handy.

The North Shore was about an hour away from Waikiki and some of the bigger tourist hot spots so you will need to drive quite a bit from the North Shore. It did not hamper our vacation. It was great to wake up to waves from our lanai and surfers clamoring for some of the best waves in the world. The house was close to tons of great food trucks, Goat island (beautiful beach off the grid), Matsumoto's Shave Ice, Waimea Falls, Waimea beach and Cliff, the Dole Pineapple Plantation, and beautiful views. Because the beach had such great waves and high tide, it wasn't the best beach to walk. Waikiki or the beach located near Goat Island had flatter surfaces for walking and swimming. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend a stay here if you are looking for a modest, one bedroom with the ability to cook in or eat out. It is not in the middle of the downtown touristy attractions. So this place is perfect if you want a getaway on your getaway.

  • We stayed at Pia's unit for almost 2 weeks in March. She really is a wonderful person just like everyone is saying, so nice, very helpful, my brother came to visit us as well while we stayed there, (he lives on a big island) and she was so nice to him, she offered him the surfboard to use since his was back home, i can't say enough of good things about Pia! She offered to do laundry which i was trying to just do all my laundry by hand that way i don't have to bother anyone, but she offered all the time which was so nice :)Thank you so much for everything you did for us! And of course the place…… we love it! The place is perfect for what you pay for it, its obviously not something luxurious which would cost hundreds more but its clean very convenient and omg… the view is amazing, the ocean is right there! It was great for our family, with our 2 year old was the BEST! The beach is a few steps down, the deck is perfect for hangout during our little one's naps and evenings, the sky is amazing at night which you can enjoy two steps away from the unit and have some romantic time as a couple in the hammock on the backyard looking at that amazing sky through the palm trees, away from a big city. If you like the city this place is not for you, stay in Waikiki. The neighbors are the friendliest people you would ever meet in your life(besides Pia :)) you never hear them and see them only if you go out in the backyard, i do have a problem when people smoke especially for my little one and being pregnant at the time of stay, NOT once we smelled a cigarette smoke and fire smoke from the beach totally loved it if could smell it, never smelled it in the unit only on the deck a little, again if you like the city life do not come to where you might be exposed to people having a fire on the beach! Ants! Not a problem! If you've ever been to Hawaii before you know not to leave anything on the counter, because they will come out of nowhere, that comes down to the person talking about not able to cook without ants crawling all over, its because she did not clean the counter herself! Pia even has a method to prevent that from happening you just have to follow it. Electrical outlets: they work! you just have to pay attention when she shows you how to work them, and i believe she is a healthy eater and tries to provide the healthy atmosphere for her guests that is why there is no microwave in the unit since its really unhealthy for you to cook in it and to be around it! the water is fine in the shows, strong enough even...

    Response from Pia:

I am soo happy you and your sweet family enjoyed your stay with us.Please give Ariel a big kiss from me.
It was truly a pleasure having you and hope you come back soon again!
I really love having my guest's comfortable and always ask if there is anything I can do for them and if everything is (email hidden)at's why it is a chock to get a review like the one below...they didn't say anything while they were here.
I keep the place "anal" clean. After every guest I sweep, dust, wipe and mop with bleach and pine sol.I used to live in the unit and had it desinfected for years.
I explain that the two sockets don't work to EVERY GUEST and have plenty of extra power-bars to make up for it.
The shower has a new tub spigot and shower head that gives great pressure.
Again,I explain in the description on the website and upon arrival to EVERY GUEST that the TV is a DVD one...it has never said Cable.
The learning experience of all of this is that whatever you do you really can't keep everybody happy...big disappointment for me!

  • This was our first experience with airbnb and didn't know what to expect - we picked a good place to start. Pia is a great hostess! She's available when needed, but not overwhelming. All her suggestions for activities and restaurants were perfect. Her "Hawaiian Rustic" apartment was fun. It's comfortable and has everything needed (except maybe a microwave) for a very pleasant stay. The views are fabulous - and yes, it really is right on a beautiful beach! I would definitely stay with her again.

  • We spent 10 days at Pia's apartment between February and March of 2014. Below are the pro's and con's, but we will start with the con's so we can end on a positive note. Pia is just too nice to do otherwise. :-)

The apartment needs to be cleaned and sanitized from floor to ceiling.

It is impossible to prepare food on the counters without the little ants invading.

The plumbing needs to be repaired since you cannot run the shower without half of the water going out of the tub spigot, and the kitchen sink gurgled the entire time we were there.

None of the electrical outlets on the right side of the apartment work, and some of the ones on the left side do not work. Before we arrived we wondered why there was no microwave; probably because the old wiring cannot handle it.

Note that the TV in the photo only plays DVDs and is not connected to cable or satellite.

Pia and her husband live upstairs over the apartment. During our stay, a new roommate moved in with them, and the noise level overhead increased early on weekday mornings.

Be prepared to breathe the neighbors' cigar and cigarette smoke as it seems to be pulled straight into the apartment. The same happens if someone builds a fire nearby on the beach, but Pia should not be held responsible for others' actions.

Pia really is a wonderful host--a beautiful person inside and out! She was always helpful and responsive (listen to her restaurant and beach recommendations). She kept us supplied with clean linens and worked on minor improvements to the property and apartment. The Internet reception is fast and strong, and we were able to stream movies on our laptop. The internet service went down once, and Pia got right on it and had it restored within hours.

When we arrived, there was a huge basket of delicious fresh fruit on the counter and a beautiful bouquet of fresh tropical flowers on the table!

THE VIEW REALLY WAS LIKE PARADISE--it cannot be overstated. Even during those few cloudy days it was still BEAUTIFUL! It literally is only steps to the beach. The A/C unit in the bedroom works well for sleeping, and the shower hose on the lanai is handy for washing off sand. We are cat lovers, so taking care of Old Man Orange while we were there was a treat for us!

We wish Pia the best and so appreciate her hospitality. The apartment has so much potential, and we would certainly consider staying there again if it is cleaned and overhauled. Mahalo and aloha, M & L

  • Pia's house was excellent! You can't find a better location if you tried. SO MUCH BEACH RIGHT OUTSIDE OF YOUR DOOR! If you are looking for a low-key, private getaway, this is the place. Things to keep in mind - this is not a 5 star hotel - so if you are looking for luxury you might want to to look elsewhere. We found the weather to be better down in Waikiki, however, there are tons of tourists there. I would say, do some research on where you want to be. If the North Shore is your preference then 100% book Pia's place.

  • Fantastic experience staying at Pia's! So much so, I was inspired to propose to my lovely girlfriend (who, fortunately, accepted or else the rest of the trip might have been pretty awkward :).

The location is amazing, Pia is a sweetheart and we couldn't have been happier with everything there.

    Can't wait to return!!!

  • Very cute apartment in the thick of the local action of the North Shore. You're sure to get the most "inside" experience possible, especially with Pia's great suggestions. Place is rustic, but decorated very cute with Pia's special touch and she keeps it very clean for when you arrive. Perfect location for watching beautiful waves and exploring all the North Shore has to offer. We traveled with our 1 yr old and really appreciated the green lawn out the front with some toys. How very perfect the stay was for us!

  • We stayed at 'The Ocean view ' for two weeks.
The place is just steps away from the beach.
We enjoyed the great view to watch the surfers at Sunset Beach break and the beautiful sunsets.
Pia was a great host, she helped with many recomondations on walk, food, places to see and made sure we had everything we needed.

  • My Girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights, we had the best time it was perfect for us. The spot of the condo could not get any better, the view from the balcony was absolute beach front on sunset point. The layout of the condo was good, spacious and comfortable, I liked the style it was very beachy/layback and retro which suits the northshore vibe. Pia was really nice and welcoming, she showed us everything and made sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. She also let us borrow bikes which was great as we rode to the shops to do groceries and all the best spots like Pipeline and waimea. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone as you wont be able to find one in this kind of location for this price! Loved it big thumbs up
