This place is just amazing! Love the colors in apartment. You can seat on the terrace and listen sound of waves- Even when you go to sleep, you hear the waves. It's true Hawaiian experience.
And North shore is the best place on island. Forget Honolulu and Waikiki, there are so touristic and crowded. On the North shore you will feel what are true Hawaii. Just hang loose!
Pia was great host, probably the best that we have so far. She was nice, kind and very helpful.
Definitely would love to go back there!
Upon arriving Pia was extremely welcoming and offered my wife and I some excellent tips on things to do in the area. The view from the back porch was excellent (especially at sunset). However, on the second night of our stay we did run into an issue. While sitting on the back porch we began seeing cockroaches. Initially we brushed it off and went inside. It was at this time we found one in the kitchen sink and later in the evening we found them in both the bedroom and bathroom. We immediately left the next morning and contacted Pia of the situation. Pia claimed that some bugs getting in was normal for a tropical environment but both my wife and I have stayed in homes in South America and Guam and never had a problem with cockroaches. Pia did offer a small refund even though, as she pointed out, it was past the 24 hour time frame in which she had to offer anything.
Our first trip to Hawaii was a FANTASTIC experience, mainly in part to Pia's beautiful cottage and great suggestions. She suggested some great restaurants and even told us where to find the sea turtles. The place is so close to the beach, the bed is comfy and the kitchen and shower are clean.
This must be exactly the kind of experience airbnb's founders had in mind when they created this site. Staying here was completely immersive. We immediately felt part of a community that we would have been happy to join permanently. In fact, the whole experience played out a little like an ad - meeting Pia and her neighbors, joining in a wedding in our communal garden, walking out through the backyard area onto the sandy beach to swim and snorkel, then every night sitting on our lanai to enjoy yet another perfect sunset in paradise. We have visited Hawaii more than 20 times but this was our best vacation. Pia's recommendations were all fantastic and she was an excellent host who knew exactly when to pop by with helpful suggestions. We loved the food trucks, the drives both North and South and the almost secret turtle beach that Pia suggested. At one point we were hand feeding five friendly turtles seaweed! The rustic local surfer style accommodation with creature comforts, adorable elderly cat (Orange) and colorful decor is not only what this place is about. It is the perfect North Shore base for an Oahu adventure. It is comfortable, clean and the perfect beach shack to escape the modern world yet thankfully blessed with modern necessities like super fast wifi and an espresso machine! Book it for a true Hawaiian experience that's islands away from Waikiki and the rest of the world as well.
My nephew and I had a fabulous stay at Pia's Hawaiian paradise. One of my favorite days was a visit to a secluded beach Pia told us about where we snorkeled with giant sea turtles...magical. Thank you Pia!
Pias Cottage is really a great home base while you are on Oahu. Far away from crazy Honolulu, which is really not worth the drive. Pia is very welcoming as us her husband Eric. She knows the right places and give a lot of great advises. We loved the food truck she recommended :) sad to just stayed there for four nights, we really miss the waves singing us a lullaby. But who knows, maybe one day we will be back ...
We stayed 5 nights at pia's house and everything was perfect. A warm welcoming with many perfect informations about the best secret places around for us. The house is very clean and safe. It is like living in old real hawaiian style directly at the northshore. You have enough space for your own and the sunset is more than romantic. Thanks and all the best for you pia. Mahalo for that paradise.
