The Space

****NOTE: The home can be rented by itself, or together with our separate studio cottage. Please see my other listing to read guest reviews or if you would like to rent both together. Thanks!!

Our beautiful and spacious 3 bedroom/ 2 bath home is located in the heart of San Mateo Park, one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the bay area. Our guests enjoy walking to the wonderful Farmer's market and fabulous shops, cafe's and restaurant that line Burlingame Ave

Our main 3/2 home can comfortably sleep 6-8 adults, with plenty of room in the den/playroom for an additional airbed.

Our master bedroom has a queen sleigh bed with 540 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and bright, skylit bathroom with shower. It also has a small flatscreen with Apple TV.

The large second bedroom has a Full sized bed and optional twin cot, and can sleep up to three adults.

The third bedroom has twin bunk beds, toddler air bed, and optional queen airbed, for a total of 4 adults. Crib, child's air mattress or twin size cot can also be set up with advance notice (we have all of those, so no need to bring your own). The Full Sized bedroom and Twin Bunk rooms share a large skylit bathroom with shower stall and separate soaking tub.

Our large and sunny playroom is a blast for kids, with a wall of windows on two sides, and wonderful educational toys, blocks, magna tiles, puzzles, and books books books. Of course, we also have a flat screen tv with XBOX Kinect (tons of games for all ages) and Apple TV with Pandora streaming, YouTube, and the full iTunes library with all the latest releases. Apple TV purchases are on an honor system. Please keep track of movie and tv show purchases and leave us cash before you depart. Thanks! (If you don't have cash, its OK. We can deduct purchases from the security deposit if that is easier). Of course, we also have a bunch of DVDs or you can bring your own.

The kitchen comes stocked with coffee/tea and some breakfast items. Help yourself to anything else in the pantry or fridge, including butter, spices, beer, wine, dry goods, pasta, grains, coffee, tea etc. Please don't take the wine from the wine rack or liquor from the liquor cabinet though :).

Our kitchen has everything you need to cook large meals, including rice cooker, blender, slow cooker, waffle maker, coffee grinder and french press (no electric coffee pot). The kitchen DOES NOT have a microwave, however (We are old school). Our Farmhouse dining table extends to comfortably seat 12-14 people, and we have plates and serving platters for a crowd! Additionally the kitchen has a small dining table with seating for 4, and two high chairs for babies/toddlers.

The house is well suited for families, with plenty of toys, books, and kid dvd's, and XBox games. The garage is stocked with sand toys and a boogie board for trips to the beach, as well as balls, ride on scooters and sports equipment for outdoor play.

From our house, you can walk to the Burlingame CalTrain station (1 mile or about 15 minutes), as well as Banana Republic, Gap, J Crew, Anthropologie, and many boutiques, restaurants, cafes, and farmers markets (Sunday morning and Thursday evenings May - October) along Burlingame Ave.

While a car is helpful. It is not necessary as long as you can walk to the Burlingame CalTrain station.

San Francisco

Half Moon Bay and San Mateo beaches are only 7 miles away, but beach traffic gets really really heavy so plan on at least an hour on summer weekends after 9 am. We have sand toys in the garage, and plenty of beach towels in the linen closet should you decide on a beach day!

  • We stayed in Nikki's house for 5 nights and it was wonderful. Well equipped, cozy, and comfortable, we felt right at home. Such a pleasure compared to staying at a hotel, especially for a family of 5 with young children!! Nikki was very easy to work with and we had no problems whatsoever. Would definitely recommend!!! Also want to note that if another guest is staying in the studio cottage while you are in the house, it will not affect your stay at all. It's completely separate and not an issue.

  • This is one of the best Airbnb listings we've ever stayed at.

We were in town for business and took our kids with on break. This house is, for the area, gigantic. The kitchen is modern and well-appointed. The back yard is quiet, peaceful, and nicely gardened. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable. Good Internet. Good entertainment system. Our kitchen at home is being remodeled, and we almost felt more at home here than our normal home.

The house is in an upmarket section of San Mateo near Burlingame. It's deeply residential, on winding side-streets, close enough to downtown to make it walkable, but far enough from El Camino to eliminate traffic. The house is convenient by car to San Francisco, SFO, Mountain View, and Half Moon Bay. We had two cars and had no trouble parking in the driveway.

Highly recommended. Compared to hotel rooms for a whole family, this place is a steal.

  • This home was beautiful, comfortable and clean. We had a lovely time staying here. Nikki was available when we had a couple questions.
It was, all in all, perfect.

  • Great home for what we need. Just a bit of a walk to downtown Burlingame so hard to walk back and forth with grocery. Nikki is very responsive and easy to work with.

  • Very convenient location to our activities. Ideal for families with small children. The host provided BART pass for me to go to San Francisco and generally she was very helpful in answering any questions we had. Recommend highly.

  • We had a very nice stay in a lovely home filled with charm and character. Much nicer and cozier than staying in a hotel. The neighborhood is beautiful and it's location is ideal for quick jaunts for coffee and ice-cream or longer leisurely outings for fine dining or the city.

My communications with Nikki have been very pleasant and gave me the feeling that she truly cares about her guests and their comfort.

Great find and I look forward to more positive experiences in the future!

  • Great place with wonderful hosts. We will surely return :-)

  • Already our second stay at Nikki's place. Can really recommend it.

  • We stayed at Nikki's place during a business trip from NYC to Silicon Valley in September 2013. Our meeting schedule was super hectic, so what we were looking for was a neat, calm place with a reliable host. We got all that, and more.

The house is really big (we only "used" a third of the rooms available) and provides everything you could possibly need. Besides, it's really tasteful and just a great place to stay in. Nikki was super responsive from the first message we sent her, and she answered all our questions patiently and accurately.

We would definitely stay here again.
