About this listing
A wonderful room in the best part of SF's Lower Haight district. Waller Street is quite, but just steps away from all the bustle and cultural activity of this vibrant neighborhood. We welcome you into our home, and offer a comforting oasis away from home. Welcome to San Francisco!
we are in the Garden District of the Lower Haight. We have been voted the number neighborhood by the new techie community. We no longer have Instant Reservation and we only accept reservations for two or more continuous nights.
from Downtown, you can take any MUNI that comes along, J, K, L, M, N and even the old street cars on the surface (F)
Interaction with Guests
Our apartment is two floors. The guest room, bathroom, family room, kitchen and outside deck for morning coffee or an afternoon hang out are all on the fist floor. John and I live on the top floor with our own bedroom, bathroom, family room and deck. The only room we share is the kitchen. Read our reviews and see why we are batting 1000 with 91 out of 91 reviews!
Geographically, we are in the Eureka Valley also known as the sun belt of San Francisco. If the fog burns off, it burns off first in our neighborhood.
Our neighborhood is also known as the hub of San Francisco. Very easy to get around. In fact, we are one Muni ride from AT and T baseball park.
Other Things to Note
Haight Street in the Lower Haight is filling up with bars and boutiques. Three Twins Ice Cream is just around the corner (local ORGANIC ice cream). The Lower Haight is not Yuppie. We are just a mixed neighborhood of local people. We live around the corner on a quiet block just planted by The Friends of the Urban Forest!
We prefer our guests to act as grown ups and not party children. We provide satellite TV, WiFi and a wireless printer in the guest bedroom. Our queen size bed sleeps two easily but if necessary, we have a small guest room that sleeps an additional guest
We were warmly welcomed by John who helped us with our luggage into their beautiful house. The street is nice and quiet and just around the corner you find Haight Street. Here you can easily spent half a day in the cool bars and shops and have a great meal. Downtown is just a short bustrip. Going to San Francisco, this is the perfect home base to discover the city!
Billy & John were very accommodating during my stay in their beautiful home! The location in Lower Haight is A+, with a nice little cafe right down the street. They made sure to make my stay very pleasant and comfortable, and I will be sure to look them up next time I am in SF.
We had a perfect stay with John & Billy. A comfortable bedroom with a very good bed and access to our own bathroom. We could cook anything in the kitchen but John did it well actually. We also had a good time chatting with him in the kitchen. We didn't see Billy much as he was working. We felt very welcome at Artful Comforts, and we would consider it first for another stay in SF.
The area is safe, quiet, and very nice and a few minutes’ walk from painted ladies or Market Street and Bart.
We can only but highly recommend it.
Artful Comfort is a great description for Billy and John's home...very interesting and comfortable home.
I had a wonderful stay with John & Billy. A comfortable bedroom, my own bathroom, access to a well-equipped kitchen, and a really pleasant time chatting with John in the kitchen when our schedules overlapped. I didn't get to see Billy much as he was working during my visit, but we had a couple of brief conversations. I felt very welcome and relaxed at Artful Comforts, and would definitely enjoy another stay if I'm in the area again.
About the Host, Billy
I live with my husband John, and we love our art filled home in the Lower Haight — central to everything. I work downtown in Union Square and it takes very little effort to get there, three stops on MUNI. Our public-transit system is everywhere and very close to the house (be it a bus, the N Judah — underground — or the street car on Market Street. Our closest surrounding neighborhoods are Hayes Valley, Duboce Triangle, The Castro (just underwent extensive renovations), the Upper Haight and Valencia Street in the Mission District. On Waller Street we're literally steps away from some of the best food, bars and shopping (not tourist spots). The Lower Haight was voted the number one neighborhood in San Francisco.
Our home (pre earthquake Edwardian) has been with me for almost forty years, so you can ask either of us anything and that you want to know about the Bay Area and we are bound to point you in the right direction. What else... Ah, just feel free to be in touch. We look forward to having you around!
We just concluded our first year on Airbnb. After reviewing all the numbers, we have decided to change certain aspects of what we offer. There will be two seasons, May through October (High Season) and November through April.
