Huge apartment in a 1920's building located at Mid-Wilshire, and the heart of historic Los Angeles Koreatown. Walking distance to all of the necessities, and a 20 minute drive from everywhere else.
This is the most centrally located of LA’s neighborhoods. Just a 20 minute drive to the canyon, beach, and hills. Hollywood, Echo Park, and Silver Lake are less than two miles north, and downtown is two miles southeast.
The large windows and view make this place. The view faces west for unreal sunsets and the Hollywood sign. 5th & Top Floor, so no creaks from above. This is a vintage building located in a historic neighborhood with an antique elevator and original hardwoods throughout. The second bed (if you need it), is a high quality queen size air mattress with a built in inflator.
Full kitchen with microwave. Living room has a comfortable day couch, and huge, 7-foot long farm-style dining room table that was built with 100 year old reclaimed barn wood. You will also have access to high speed WIFI with 16 down & 5 up.
Parking is free on the street, and I might even have a car and garaged space you can rent. Just ask. If you plan on using your feet to get around, this is the perfect location. You are walking distance to the Wilshire/Vermont red line metro station (3 blocks), and countless bars/ restaurants within a 2-block radius. There are Korean supermarkets with the essentials (beer, milk, eggs), but also multiple aisles devoted to kimchee and other fermented oddities. If you require a more traditional marketplace, those are walking distance as well. I’ve been working on a bar and restaurant bucket list.. everything listed below is walkable:
Monte Carlo: A rare, true, dive bar. The mix of people you will find here is astounding. This place was very recently visited and featured by Anthony Bourdain, so expect to see a few hipsters.
Lock and Key: This bar is the opposite of Monte Carlo. Sometimes on weekends, there’s even a short line at the door. After searching a wall with hundreds of doorknobs for the hidden door, you will enter a prohibition style speakeasy. Drinks are on the expensive side, but bartenders take their time, and it’s worth it.
Brass Monkey: Best karaoke bar in the country, hands down. I’ve seen Seth Macfarlane and Jack Black here numerous times. Drinks are cheap and the karaoke ranges from really good to amateur to hilarious.
HMS Bounty: Cheap food menu and really cool bar on the first floor of the historic Gaylord hotel
El Flamin’ Taco: Best Taco truck in LA. Look it up. Their Al Pastor tacos are my go-to.
BCD Tofu house: Spicy, immigrant inspired Korean tofu stew.
Swadesh: Great Bangladeshi grocery and prepared food market. The best Tandoori Chicken in LA.
Soowon Galbi: Best Korean Barbeque Restaurant in the country!!! Great for groups.
Everything in the apartment. Laundry is coin operated, and just a short elevator ride downstairs.
I am usually around to hand over the keys and show you into the apartment. Sometimes when I am out of town, I leave the keys in a secret hiding place for you to find. When it's time to check out, you simple lock up, and slide the keys under the door.

What a cool home. My 3 friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Ample room and the view is the clincher.
Location is great, getting to and from is breezy, surrounding restaurants serve great food and kitchen is equipped with everything you will need.
Michael is a great host, fast and easy communication with great suggestions.
We would all definitely stay here again.
I had a great time here - spacious apartment with everything you need, excellent location and accommodating host! Highly recommended for a central, fun and safe place to stay in LA.
Fantastic location - great restaurants 2 mins away, metro and buses 5-10 mins easy walk, Korea spas. We felt safe and comfortable. And a really great hot shower. The free wifi was a real plus. Michael was really easy to deal with and very generous.
We had a great stay in Michael place. It is really good located and really clean. if you need a good place to stay, we highly recommend this place. besides that michael is a very friendly person and if you need help with something im sure he will take care of it! thank you for everything michael. it was a pleasure.
We (three adults) stayed in Michael's apartment for three weeks. The apartment has lots of space. There is room for the queen size bed and we also used a queen sized air mattress in the living room. There is ample closet space. The kitchen is well equipped except for a microwave. We cooked a number of meals during our stay. We enjoyed the view of the Hollywood Hills over the rooftops. The location is also good, only a few blocks from a metro station on Wilshire. We took the metro to Hollywood and downtown. There are a large number and wide variety of places to eat within walking distance. The apartment also has Wifi so we had internet connection. Michael was very helpful and answered all of our questions promptly. We would definitely use the apartment again.
This was my first time booking on AirBNB. Michael was great about getting in touch to answer any questions. Nice 1920s building, stylish spacious and well-furnished apartment, and a comfortable bed. Very clean. Hard to beat the price and accommodations for a short-term stay that feels like home
Michael's apartment is awesome, he was very attentive and cool too. I would highly recommend this place to a couple or solo traveler looking for a quite respite from the busy city. Building was nice, quiet, and personal. Nothing in LA is close to anything else but this location is central and offers lots of flexibility for transit options.
When apartments don't have many reviews yet, some people think twice. But if you always play safe, you might never find the hidden gems like Michael's place.
It's in a characterful historic building on a quiet residential street, stylish but quirky with some great eclectic furniture, very clean, very spacious - and has an amazing view of the hills. We felt very safe walking around the neighbourhood and just 5 minutes away is Chapman Market which is also a special historic building - now housing a vibrant group of Korean bars and restaurants.
Michael was incredibly helpful and friendly - and made us feel very welcome. We count ourselves lucky that we had a chance to stay at this special apartment!
I found Michael's apartment just the place for me. I've been to LA many times and wanted to go somewhere to chill; somewhere I hadn't been before in LA. The pictures describe the apartment very well. What you don't see is that when you look out that living room window on the top floor of this charming if maybe a little worn art deco apartment building, is a stunning view across tall palm trees to the Hollywood sign about 3 miles in the distance. I loved sitting at that table and just taking it all in. The apartment itself was very clean. Being in Koreatown also made it not only central and easy to get around (2 metro train station lines and innumerable buses in easy walking distance) but also there was the Korean experience and also a substantial Hispanic experience as well. There are several other ethnic groups represented in the area all contributing to its vitality. The street and neighborhood is very nice and I always felt safe walking at whatever hour. Communication with Michael was very easy from the beginning and he was waiting for me on the afternoon I arrived. He was very helpful and gave me suggestions on places to eat nearby and other things I might find of interest in Koreatown. He also was so accommodating when I needed to stay an extra day and asked for a late checkout as I had a evening flight. I would have to say that Michael's apartment isn't for everyone but for single travelers and couples on a budget who want some privacy, have a sense of adventure and who don't need luxurious accommodation, this is the perfect place at the price. I highly recommend it.
Michael's place was a great space, highly recommended to all
