Huge apartment in a 1920's building located at Mid-Wilshire, and the heart of historic Los Angeles Koreatown. Walking distance to all of the necessities, and a 20 minute drive from everywhere else.

The Space

This is the most centrally located of LA’s neighborhoods. Just a 20 minute drive to the canyon, beach, and hills. Hollywood, Echo Park, and Silver Lake are less than two miles north, and downtown is two miles southeast.
The large windows and view make this place. The view faces west for unreal sunsets and the Hollywood sign. 5th & Top Floor, so no creaks from above. This is a vintage building located in a historic neighborhood with an antique elevator and original hardwoods throughout. The second bed (if you need it), is a high quality queen size air mattress with a built in inflator.

Full kitchen with microwave. Living room has a comfortable day couch, and huge, 7-foot long farm-style dining room table that was built with 100 year old reclaimed barn wood. You will also have access to high speed WIFI with 16 down & 5 up.

Parking is free on the street, and I might even have a car and garaged space you can rent. Just ask. If you plan on using your feet to get around, this is the perfect location. You are walking distance to the Wilshire/Vermont red line metro station (3 blocks), and countless bars/ restaurants within a 2-block radius. There are Korean supermarkets with the essentials (beer, milk, eggs), but also multiple aisles devoted to kimchee and other fermented oddities. If you require a more traditional marketplace, those are walking distance as well.

Guest Access

Everything in the apartment. Laundry is coin operated, and just a short elevator ride downstairs.

Interaction with Guests

I am usually around to hand over the keys and show you into the apartment. If I'm out of town, I'll leave the keys (email hidden) for you. When it's time to check out, you simply lock up, and slide the keys under the door.

  • Michael was very gracious and responsive if I had any questions. The house was spacious and clean. The neighborhood is vibrant and there's easy access to food and groceries.

  • Michael's place is very cool--easy to get to, well located, clean, comfortable. Michael himself is also great. He was invariably communicative, friendly, and helpful, which was especially important to me as this was my first time using AirBnB. Would definitely stay again if I need a place in the area!

  • The apartment is spacious, 4 people can easily fit. The living room area and the kitchen are great. Location is very central, in a good neighborhood. No air-conditioning is the only downside, other than that just great!
I didnt get to meet Michael because he was away for a trip, but he is very practical where necessary and easy to reach. The whole process was smooth.
I would definitely recommend the apartment!

  • I enjoyed my stay at Michael's place. As advertised, his apartment is in an older building with a lot of charm. The apartment has a beautiful view of the Hollywood Hills, a well stocked kitchen, and plenty of space. One con (although no fault of Michael's) is parking in the evening. Both nights I had to park about four blocks away after driving around for quite a while.

  • Our stay at Michael's place was wonderful. Michael was incredibly responsive, answered our inquiry almost immediately, and gave us all the important information that we needed within a few hours of our questions and emails. So right from the start, we felt secure in booking with him. I took my son out to visit a college, and we wanted to stay away from the campus to give him a a better sense of life in LA. I wanted him to get to know the mass transit system, visit local eateries and grocery stories, and just experience the diversity that LA is known for. Michael's place, located in Koreatown, was THE place to be to make these things happen. Within a two block walk and on the way back from a metro stop is Zion grocery story. On the corner a block away is a 7-11, and what can't you get there, right? There's also top-rated restaurants within two blocks. Try the Kogi Korean BBQ. The line out the door on a Monday evening made us wonder if it wasn't really Friday or Saturday night. The restaurant got top reviews by a lot of Yelpers, Trip Advisors, and LA Eaters, so no wonder it was crowded. Plenty of coffee shops, bakeries in that area, too. Safe and quiet neighborhood for walking and really pretty at night. My son walked to a local pizza place after dark to pick up his own pizza and made a trip to the grocery. Each night, we passed by a father who walked and sang his infant daughter to sleep. Very safe. Transportation to and from this location is amazeballs. Within a few blocks is the Metro Red line stop, and in an even shorter walk is a stop for the Metro Purple line. You do not need to rent a car. We took the Fly Away bus from/to LAX to Union Station for $8 a person. (You can make your reservation online or pay it as you get off the bus at Union Station.) Getting around town from MIchael's location by bus is super-easy, even if you've never ridden mass transit. Buy a Tap card at any Metro station or at other locations listed on the Metro's website. We bought a weekly pass for $20, which gave us unlimited rides the entire week. Took the 720 down to Santa Monica Beach and all points between several times. Took the Metro Red line to Hollywood and even farther north to where you can walk to Griffith Observatory. Took the Metro Purple line back to Union Station to catch the FlyAway back to LAX. SUPER EASY AND AFFORDABLE! Michael's apartment is bright, clean, and a wonderful home away from home. Has everything you need to cook for yourself. Plenty of closet and drawer space for three. And both beds were comfortable - even the queen air bed. Hollywood sign is viewable from windows. In all, Michael's place was a wonderful homebase for our week in LA. Thanks,...

  • Michael's place is super cool. Open, spacious, well decorated but not cluttered, amazing light, fun view across rooftops and through palm trees to the Hollywood sign, close to lots of fun places and transit but in a quiet and walkable neighbourhood. I'd very happily recommend it. Though we never met, Michael was attentive and made sure I had everything I needed even with a very late almost-next-day arrival. He was quick to respond and good with suggestions.

  • Didn't meet Michael but he checked in regularly to make sure all was fine and replaced the airbed immediately when reported faulty. Excellent location with good and well priced restaurants close at hand. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. Great shower. Beds were comfortable. Parking within a couple of hundred yards. Downside is the sofa was not very comfortable.
Would rent from Michael again. Good first experience in LA.
