About this listing
Fabulous location w/i easy walking distance of downtown Palo Alto, Caltrain, Stanford, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, cafes, shops. Easy parking. Full bed plus guest mattresses avail. Gym closeby! (I have passes)
Completely amazing location and nice place, not posh but nice :) Well lit, too. Easy to park.. Half a mile from the Stanford gym, free entrance with the red pass (which I leave on the fridge magnet).
5 minute walk to TJ, 5 minute walk to Whole Foods. 12 minute walk to Caltrain and downtown Palo Alto. 5 minute walk to Town and Country shopping area, with some nice food places like Mayfield and Calafia (that's the place started by the (website hidden) chef, very good food, midrange prices)
Easy walking distance to Caltrain (Palo Alto station) and to the myriad of busses that leave from the station. Free shuttle to stanford is minutes away, or walk (Stanford is v close y).
Other Things to Note
The entrance is behind the driveway, look for a child-size rocking chair and go up past it to the door, keys will be under the mat.
(Super secret spare keys: one under the mint plant by the door and one under the pile of rocks near the rocking chair)
Would really appreciate if guests could leave the house as they found it so I can come home to a clean place :) No need to be too strict, just decently clean. Thanks!
My partner and I had an OK stay here for a week. Strong wifi, good kitchen, great location (TJ, Whole Foods, University all walking distance). Well-positioned for driving on 101 or on Alma/El Camino. Privacy, private entrance. Good bed -- got solid sleep.
The pictures are really inaccurate. There is a lot more furniture in there than the pictures show, and therefore a lot less usable space. Also the pictures don't get across the fact that this is somebody's home, filled with personal objects and decorations, and most of the cupboards, drawers, and shelves taken up with personal artifacts.
There is little in this house that reflects the guest, or shows effort in helping the guest claim their own space. Every part of the space is filled with the host's presence and personal preferences.
Thanks for the feedback. No one has complained about any of that before, so I didn't think about it, very helpful to hear your perspective.
This is of course a lived-in house, but I keep the big block of shelves empty for guests' possessions- was it filled with stuff? It should have a few cubes filled with towels.
I will add more updated pictures, I did take them before I bought the kitchen table.
Can you elaborate on the personal preferences? I always assume the ABB spaces are someone's house that you occupy for a time, so it didn't occur to me to make it more anonymous.
Thanks again for your feedback, I'd love to hear more elaboration.
PS I have thought of getting the extras you mention like a coffee machine and electric kettle. I haven't because it's a small kitchen and I don't want to have too much clutter, but if you felt it lacking then it's a good reason to reconsider.
Karen is such a responsive, helpful hostess! Her home is so lovely. Cozy, quiet, and guaranteed a good night's rest. Really convenient location as well. I'll definitely be looking for Karen's the next time I come back here!
We have enjoyed our stay in this clean and comfortable apartment very much. In addition to its convenient location near the Palo Alto Station and the Stanford University, this place is really quiet and relaxing. Most of all, Karen is very kind and really nice. Communications from her have been quick and thoughtful. We are hoping to come back here again, soon.
The main adjective I'd use to describe this apartment is - peaceful. It is exactly as described. Small (cozy) and perfectly located in a quiet Palo Alto neighborhood, five minute walk to downtown PA, Whole Foods, restaurants, etc. I stayed for 10 days - my son joined me for the last 5. It was a little crowded for 2 but we made it work. The kitchen is small but I was able to cook a couple of reasonable meals. Karen - the host - was completely available, met me when I first arrived, and was generally just very easy to work with from beginning to end. This was my first Airbnb experience and will certainly not be my last.
Although Karen already reminded it might be a little crowded for us and maybe we should give it another thought, we still stay here and found that's true but we love it! lol
The location of the house is quiet and convenient for us, takes 10 mins to Stanford to have a walk or 6 mins to Whole Food to have some food. And for us, it's also convenient to drive to have a Silicon Valley tour to Apple, Google, Facebook..etc.
So I really recommended to rest of you if you wanna have a Silicon Valley tour like us! lol
Thanks Karen. It was a great place in a great location. I stayed by myself to visit at Stanford and the location is perfect. Parking available and next to grocery, coffee and campus. It's the right size to be comfortable and stretch out to read a book or get work done. The neighborhood is tree lined and quiet. Karen is a very nice host and lent me a bike to use. Thanks again.
The apartment was comfortable and in a great location -- very walkable and close to nice restaurants, caltrain, etc. Everything was clean and as advertised, though we wished there had been window coverings to provide a bit of privacy. With the window open, the train in the morning was loud, but since we were up early anyway it didn't bother us, and it was fine with the window closed. Karen was very reachable and helpful.
