MUST SEE ATTRACTIONS:
If you're looking for Kauai activities on a grand scale, head to Waimea Canyon. It's 3,567-feet deep, 10 miles long, and one mile wide. One look will make you lose your breath. Equally stunning are the 3,000-foot high mountain cliffs that rise from the ocean floor to form the magnificent Napali Coast. It's a must-see whether by land, sea, or sky. Drive the road to Hanalei for a sweeping tour of Kauai's splendor. Stop off at Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. And refuel at the largest coffee plantation in Hawaii: the Island Coffee Company's 4,000-acre Kauai Estate Plantation. You can do all this while staying at one of our conveniently located Kauai resorts or Kauai vacation rentals.

Kauai golf anyone? Kauai has more dramatic, world-class courses than you can shake a stick at. No wonder it's the home of PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Poipu Bay Golf Course. Kauai golf courses take advantage of the natural landscape, with waterfalls, streams, and ancient lava tubes. Play along the cliffs at Poipu Bay, and you may even see bobbing sea turtles and basking monk seals. Don't miss the seascapes from the Wailua Municipal Golf Course, bordering Kaha Lani Resort. Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Kiahuna Golf Club is another beautifully demanding layout, and home of Joe's on the Green for breakfast and Bloody Marys. Finding a beach you love on Kauai is also easy. There are 43 Kauai beaches in total, varying from quiet white-sand lagoons, to perfectly-carved calm water bays, to expansive pounding ocean shores. Poipu has the best Kauai beaches for swimming. Poipu Beach Park is kid-friendly and best for exploring tide pools, snorkeling, and building sandcastles. You can walk there from Poipu Shores and Makahuena at Poipu. And if you forgot your beach gear, you'll find what you need at one of Kauai's shopping centers.

The list of Kauai activities for water lovers is long: surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, the list goes on. If you're skilled enough to take to the rivers, Kauai has the only navigable ones in the state. Make like Indiana Jones on the Wailua River, or paddle through a federal wetlands bird refuge on the Hanalei River. Among the best spots for snorkeling and diving are Makua Beach ("Tunnels") on the North Shore, Niihau, with its 130-foot deep reef walls, and Koloa Landing and Prince Kuhio Park at Poipu Beach. Boaters can sail into the sunset or cruise in a 13-foot Boston Whaler. Kauai activities are amazing by land as well. Thrill-seekers will want to zip down Waimea Canyon Road on a mountain bike. Or for something more mellow, how about an interpretive nature bike ride through the native forests of Kokee State Park? Or by horse, try the long sandy beaches of Poipu and Waimea or the lush mountain valleys. Ride to a mountain waterfall on the North Shore. Take a leisurely breakfast trail ride with the ocean and mountains as your entourage on Poipu Beach. Or take an oceanside trek near Waimea and watch sun set over the "Forbidden Island" of Niihau.

Kauai activities don't stop there. You can experience the unusual like hang gliding, polo, or an authentic rodeo. Even the more traditional activities like hiking are still unique here. Serious backpackers and casual hikers alike can take to the island's wide variety of trails. In total, there are 28 named trails totaling 45 miles – most of them rich in native flora, some found nowhere else in the world. The Napali Coast, Waimea Canyon and Kokee regions have the most extensive network of trails. And don't miss the ones near the Wailua River. The views from the island's higher trails are extraordinary, with streams, waterfalls, and swimming holes to cool off along the way. After a seemingly endless day of exploration, be sure to check out of one of Kauai's restaurants or Kauai luaus.

There are endless secluded spots for fun and romance. You can also get to Kauai's mountainous interior by helicopter if you like. Witness waterfalls spilling from the crater walls of Mount Waialeale, or meander through the astounding valleys of the Napali coastline. However you see Kauai, it promises excitement, beauty, and culture at every vantage point.
