  • The place was very nice but other then that it wasnt as great as it seemed to be. I was harrased by the ppl in the upstairs apartment. It was 8:30pm and a man who i think was the landlord told me to turn the tv down but the tv was not on. There was tons of banging and loud foot steps (website hidden) am sure the landlord has no idea this a sublett . I cleaned the whole apartment before i left. Im a non-smoker but i did light the candles that where left on the dresser trying to give the apartment a nice smell for when the host returned. Maybe this is the smell he complained about because i repeat i am a non-smoker. The blue towls already had a stain but im not picky so i said nothing. The other towls in the closet smelled like a dirty beach like they where never even washed. The host texted me once during the whole stay telling me there were draws i could use in the bedroom. I was on vaction and lost track of time. So by the time i looked at my phone it was late at night and i didnt want to bother the host with non-sense

    Response from Danny:

I will start by saying that you are completely lying about being a non smoker. I was staying directly across the street from the apartment the whole time you were there and I personally saw you smoking several times when you came outside of the apartment. I also personally saw your boyfriend smoke several times. There are surveillance cameras on the property of the apartment you stayed at which can prove you are completely lying about being a non smoker.

My landlord does live upstairs from me and he does know about the subletting. I personally told him right after I left you the morning you checked in that you and your boyfriend were staying there. He happened to be throwing out the garbage as I was leaving and that is when I told him. When I came home the night after you checked out I turned on the TV and the volume was turned up 85% of the way. If that is how loud you had the tv when you did have it on then I would also have complained if I were a neighbor. The tv has never been up passed 35% when I've come home after other guests have stayed there.

The blue bath towels I provide guests were in perfect condition until you stayed at the apartment. The blue towel you mention that has a stain on it and smells like the beach is in fact a beach towel. That blue towel was not provided to you for you to use. That blue towel was put away in a closet with other personal belongings of mine and I never offered you anything that was in that closet. The blue bath towels I provide guests are always left on the toilet seat of the bathroom in plain sight and I always let guests know that those are the towels for their personal use.

Lastly, there were two text messages that you never responded to. On March 13th you text me at 10:54am saying that you were outside of the apartment and I came out and greeted you. After a few minutes of walking you through the apartment and explaining things I left to go to work. Thirteen minutes later at 11:07am I text you saying that the closet, shelves and drawers in the bedroom were for you and your boyfriend to use and I never received a response back from you. At 11:28pm that same night I received a text from you asking how the volume on the dvd player works which I responded to two minutes later at exactly 11:30pm and said "no worries" regarding the late night text. I find it hard to believe that from 10:54am to 11:28pm the same day you "lost track of time" as you wrote above and never once looked at your cell phone. You're also contradicting yourself when you wrote above that "it was late at night and I didnt want to bother the host with non-sense" yet I have that late night text from you at 11:28pm about the dvd player volume (for the record I am not saying it was non sense. I'm pointing out the fact that you did text me late at night). The second text you did not respond to was sent to you on March 20th at 12:01pm. It was in response to your text to me at 12:01pm asking "I'm checking out at around 2pm is that okay?" I text you back saying "Hey. No problem. I get out of work at 6pm so you can stay until then if you want to". When I never received a text back from you I had no idea what time you were actually going to check out.

Your comments are evidently backlash because I wrote my review first and you did not like it. None of my other guests have ever had a problem when they stayed at my apartment and that is proved in their reviews below.

  • First of all let me thank Danny for being such a nice host. He was so good in accommodating us last moment when our host canceled on us last day in New York's busiest day of the year-NYE. He was really patient with all my questions about the directions to his home.

His place is such a well maintained place and feels like home. We felt very good and relaxed at his home. He is a very friendly person and has every amenities needed at his place. Even has beer for the guests :-). He has a very nice collection of movies which is really needed for a quiet evening after a busy day in NY.

Just a 10 minute bus/car drive from the Flushing Main street subway, this is a gem of a place. Cannot go wrong with the place and the host. Definitely recommended.

  • Danny was a great host! Very reliable, quick to respond, and great to communicate with. His apartment was excellent!, very well equipped , clean and stocked. A definite recommendation! Wish we could have stayed longer than the one night, but we needed to be closer to the city center.

About
Born and raised in the city that never sleeps. Best part I like about living in NY is that you can get a slice of pizza, beer or even a workout 24 hours a day/seven days a week. Even though NY is awesome, I love traveling to Miami and Las Vegas for a change of scenery.
