The Space

Bella Notte is an old Tudor Mansion in North Avondale about four blocks from Xavier University. The home has two central air conditioning units and four of the seven bedrooms are available for rent. Each bedroom has a private bath, but two of the bedrooms can share an adjoining bath to become a 2BR suite for convenient family use.

The fifth bedroom is an exercise room featuring a computerized recumbent bike with a display of simulated bike trails as well as a small HD monitor for viewing DIRECTV while working out with the free weights or on the mat.

Bedrooms six and seven are occupied by the owner and used as an office.

Since Air BnB requires separate listings for each room I have four listings, one for each available room. Be sure to check all four calenders for availability. For your convenience all rooms are pictured in all four listings to aid in your decision.

All rooms have individually keyed privacy locks for your security and a wireless network gets you on the internet. Every room has a desk that will accommodate a laptop. Televisions are not supplied in the rooms but DIRECTV and Netflix may be watched in the den, and DVDs are available on loan from an extensive collection that you may take to your room and watch on your laptop. Three of the rooms have a shower in the bath, two have a tub as well.

This listing is for the 3rd floor bedroom which has no shower but features a jacuzzi. However, there is a separate bath off the exercise room that does have a shower and may be used by this room if desired. This is the most private room as it is the only guest room on the third floor. There is a den with seating and a great sound system immediately outside the room that may be used by guests. The room maintains a very even temperature but an auxiliary air-conditioner is provided in the room for those days with extremely hot weather and humidity.

There is a 24/7 coffee station and a mini-fridge centrally located on the 2nd floor available to all the rooms. The mini-fridge is stocked with complimentary, cold bottled water and a single serve coffee station featuring regular, decaf, espresso and flavored coffees.

There is a half-bath on the first floor close to all the dining areas for your convenience. Some rooms feature a CD player or an iPod player to listen to music. The entire house and patio is a non-smoking area. We do not accept pets or small children at this time, but future plans include changes to make Bella Notte a child friendly environment. We have a gentle cat in the house, so if you are allergic to cats, this is not the place for you. Three rooms feature Queen size beds and one, the Gold room, is a full.

There are four areas where breakfast can be served, The dining room seats ten. The sunny breakfast nook seats four. The solarium seats six and the patio seats four.

The house boasts very large rooms and has multiple dens. The "man cave" features a billiard table, poker table and a backgammon table. Additional dens are a TV room on the first floor, the solarium and a music room on the third floor.

Our kitchen is large and the menu features over three dozen exciting offerings for breakfast. Each morning will feature one egg-based breakfast, one grains-based breakfast and one fruit-based breakfast as well as juices, teas and coffees including espressos, lattes and cappucinos. Our goal is to provide you a healthy and creative start to each day. We will make every effort to accommodate your special requirements, such as food allergies or simply just likes and dislikes.

Street parking is abundant in a safe neighborhood where residents walk their dogs and jog at all hours. Off street parking can accommodate up to four cars. Downtown is about 5 miles away and UC is even closer. The bus stops with frequency a scant block away. Many fine restaurants exist in the Hyde Park area, which is about 2 miles from our location as well as a few in Norwood and in St. Bernard, both just a little over a mile. The best mall shopping is in Kenwood, about six miles away but Hyde Park boasts many fine shops and malls as well. We are centrally located with easy access to both I71 and I75 as well as 562 known locally as the Norwood Lateral. There are several easy to follow surface roads that lead to the main areas of the city and downtown as well, that can get you there without any traffic, any time of day or night in just minutes. The airport, which is in Kentucky is about 30 miles away but if you want to get a better airfare you can fly into Dayton, a 50 minute drive.

Special arrangements can be made for long term guests who wish to have all their meals served here at Bella Notte.

  • We had a very nice, but brief, stay at Mike's home. The house itself is lovely, comfortable, and well-decorated. It's in an historic neighborhood about 10+ minute drive to downtown or OTR. Mike was gracious and welcoming. Breakfast was freshly prepared and delightful. We will definitely be back again, and hopefully stay for longer!

  • Michael was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating to us. So was the gardener. It was fun to get to know the other guests around the breakfast table over a delicious gourmet dish. The Bella Notte seems to sit right on the edge of a very nice neighborhood. The custom musical instrument on the second floor was intriguing.

  • We spent only the afternoon there, so I can't say a lot about it. Michael was prompt and had many ideas on how to accommodate our special requests. We found the lunch he made for us truly delicious, but we wished it was a bigger portion or maybe a second course with fruits and cheese, for instance (we are vegetarians). But he is a great chef, no doubts! He was very fun to hang out with too, listened and watched some fun music together. The bed was comfortable.

  • Stayed here one night for a weekend getaway. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. The house is wonderful and the neighborhood safe and beautiful. Michael is a friendly and accommodating host and he prepares a fabulous breakfast. This was my first experience with Airbnb and I am well pleased. I would recommend Bella Notte for a stay in Cincinnati.

  • Don't hesitate, book now! This stay was my first airbnb stay. My stay was impromptu and had a reservation with in minutes of inquiring late in the day midweek. Thought I would enjoy one night and move on....but after my first morning, immediately went to AirBnB and booked for the remainder of my stay. Michael is a natural at making you feel comfortable and as welcome as a member of his own family. His home is extremely well equipped with modern luxuries and contains a rich collection of artwork, music, films, antiques and furnishings. The quality historical American craftsmanship of each and every room is unparalleled and extends for blocks in his community. I felt very safe during my stay and in exploring the neighborhood. Now if you love food, Michael loves to prepare a broad range of dishes and tailors his dishes to suit your palate. In my three meals in the charming breakfast nook, I was so satisfied I needed not to seek lunch. Michael is such an interesting and knowledgeable person, I felt as though I had just had a mini continuing ed course of a fun elective nature and have absorbed a wide area of mental stimulus. Sorry for the long winded write up, but in closing, what I anticipated to be a not so fun week in Cincinnati on work turned into only a memory of a good relaxed mini vacation. I will be back next time in Cincy....

  • Michael's house is absolutely beautiful, and he was a great host. The breakfasts were amazing, and his company was pleasant. My husband and I stayed in the 3rd floor room with the Jacuzzi, which was my favorite part of the house. I would recommend this wonderful home to anyone staying in Cincinnati.

  • This was one of the best airbnb experiences I have had. Michael was an exceptional host and the house was beautiful and accommodating. Breakfast was a real treat - especially the method by which Michael lets the guests know it's ready. I stayed in the third bedroom and will definitely be back!!!

  • My husband and I spent 1 night at Belle Notte but wish it had been longer. Michael's home should be a destination in itself as one could spend many delightful hours exploring his eclectic furnishings and collections, hearing his fascinating stories over delicious breakfast and even getting an impromptu concert on his custom made "vibes"!
All this AND a very comfortable room with everything you need to feel at home.
We visit Cincinnati often and will always stay at Bella Notte when we do!

  • Two thumbs up for Michael and Bella Notte. This was my first time using Air BNB. I don't know what was going on in Cincinnati, but all of the vacation rentals on (website hidden) were booked and most of the convenient hotel rooms as well. We stumbled on Michael's place and what a fantastic surprise awaited! We were expecting nothing and left with a new place to stay in Cincinnati - This beats the heck out of my Aunt's sofa!
Michael was gracious, welcoming and most of all, genuine. This gig fits him like a glove. He loves his home and he loves sharing it with his guests. And his talents don't stop there - breakfast was out of this world. He had 6 guests this particular weekend and managed to provide a meal that appealed to everyone. At least I think he did - there were no leftovers!
Since the review should be about the actual accomodations as well let me say that you will not be disappointed. The house is amazing - set in a beautiful neighborhood. Our room was spacious, clean and stocked with whatever we could possibly have needed. The description and pics on his page are an accurate depiction of what you can expect (that's always my biggest concern).
If you find yourself in the Cincinnati area in need of a comfortable and convenient place to stay give Michael and Bella Notte a chance - you will not be disappointed.

  • The Bella Notte B&B is a true gem hidden in the trees of a very quiet, safe and elegant Cincinnati neighborhood. The house is just amazing. Beautifully decorated, with spotless and huge rooms, curated in every detail and full of charming things that the owner collected in his long and intense life. And, speaking about the owner, Michael is a pretty extraordinary guy...He's not only a terrific host, a perfect advisor to Cincinnati attractions and a wonderful cook (ask him for his famous blueberry and ricotta blinis for breakfast!!!), he is a generous, thoughtful, multitalented person with whom we spent some absolutely interesting time - talking about art, cinema, history and many other things. We feel very lucky to have met him and to have spent a couple of days in his B&B and we absolutely reccomed it to anyone staying in Cincinnati!

I'm a filmmaker who recently directed a feature film called "The Black Dove" starring John Savage, Sean Young, Abby Wathen, Red West, David Della Rocco and Lou Beattie Jr. My grandfather was a grocer and my Dad was in the Air Force. I learned to cook from my grandmother and mother. Bella Notte is more than just a B&B. It's my home. It's decorated in an eclectic mix and the many books and antiques have deep personal meaning, so please respect them. While I know you will enjoy the atmosphere, its just as much about breakfast. Bella Notte exists for "foodies" and the menu is varied. Let me know if you have any preferences or foods you need to avoid and I will make every effort to craft a meal for you that you will savor and enjoy to begin each day here. In the tradition of my family, mealtime is about sharing our lives through conversation. While you may dine alone, I encourage you to engage the other guests, as well as myself, in discussion and intellectual exploration. Humor is always appreciated, as is serious reflection. so don't be shy. Join us for a dynamic breakfast experience you will help to create.
