Guests describe a thoughtfully designed, peaceful retreat with a host who responds quickly
Imagine slow mornings with warm floors beneath your feet, coffee in hand, and snow falling beyond the windows. Spend the day skiing Sunday River, just 10-12 minutes away, or stay in and enjoy nowhere to be.

Come evening, warm up in your private sauna, sink into the hot tub under the stars, and curl up by the fireplace. Set on 3.5 private acres, this thoughtfully designed cabin is a cozy winter escape for couples and solo travelers.

The space
Fresh tracks at Sunday River. A sauna session as the sun goes down. A soak in your private hot tub beneath the stars. A quiet evening by the fireplace with nowhere else you need to be. Winter at The Cabin at Bear River can be as adventurous or as unhurried as you like.

Set on 3.5 private wooded acres, this 560-square-foot, Japandi-inspired cabin was thoughtfully designed for couples and solo travelers. You’re about 10-12 minutes from Sunday River and downtown Bethel, with your own hot tub, sauna, and wooded trail waiting when you return. The entire cabin and its amenities are yours alone.

Inside, radiant heated floors warm bare feet, limewashed walls add soft texture, and floor-to-ceiling windows make you feel tucked into your own winter wonderland. Settle into the sofa beside the fireplace, put your favorite playlist on the Marshall speaker, or watch the snow fall from the comfort of your king bed. There’s just as much reason to stay in as there is to head out.

The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking together, whether that means a hearty breakfast before the mountain or dinner in after a snowy day. A Moccamaster coffee maker makes slow mornings even better, while the KitchenAid mixer and fondue pot invite a little baking or an après-ski fondue night.

Your evening plans might be the best part: warm up in the private sauna, step into the crisp winter air, then slip into the hot tub beneath the stars. Inside, a rainfall shower, heated towel bar, and heated bidet seat keep the comfort going.

For a quieter way to explore, borrow the provided snowshoes and follow the private wooded trail toward the Bear River. It’s a 5–10 minute walk in warmer months; in winter, take your time and let snow conditions set the pace.

When the weather allows, gather around the firepit beneath the string lights or settle into an Adirondack or hanging egg chair. Warmer days bring coffee on the deck, outdoor dinners, and picnics by the river. The hot tub and sauna are available year-round; access to some other outdoor features may be limited by snow.

An off-peak NACS EV charger is available on-site. Please bring any adapter your vehicle requires.

Come for a ski weekend, a little time together, or a few days entirely to yourself. We’ve put thought into the details so you can settle in and enjoy being here.

Guest access
Guests enjoy complete privacy with exclusive access to the entire property. Nothing is shared, from the riverside trail and firepit to the hot tub and private sauna. Every amenity is yours alone, creating a secluded, one-of-a-kind cabin retreat designed for uninterrupted rest, connection, and escape.

Other things to note
We want every guest to arrive feeling informed, comfortable, and ready to fully enjoy the cabin. Because this is a private retreat in the Maine woods, there are a few natural and practical details that are helpful to know in advance.

These notes are shared in the spirit of care and transparency, not to take away from the experience, but to ensure the cabin feels like the right fit for your stay. Our hope is that by knowing these details upfront, you can settle in with ease, embrace the setting, and enjoy the quiet beauty of the space exactly as it was intended.

----

The cabin is thoughtfully tucked into the woods and designed to feel private and peaceful. While it’s not a remote, deep-wilderness retreat, most guests feel pleasantly removed from the outside world during their stay.

We’re conveniently located just off Route 26, which makes access easy year-round (especially in the winter). Because of this, you will likely hear light road noise during the day, particularly with windows open or while in the front/side yard, and in winter, when the trees are bare, you may notice cars passing from certain angles. In non-winter months, when the trees are lush, you should barely notice the road.

All of that said, the cabin is intentionally positioned to maximize privacy, with surrounding woods and no direct neighboring cabins. Evenings are typically very quiet, and the overall setting remains calm, comfortable, and serene.

---

We are pet friendly, but we kindly ask that all pets are kept off of furniture and kenneled when left on property alone. We do charge a pet fee that is automatically added when you add a pet to your booking. Please make sure to do this during booking to prevent unexpected fees post-booking.

---

While the cabin is designed for two, we happily welcome up to four guests. Please note that indoor dining is set up for two, with plenty of outdoor seating for four during spring, summer, and fall.

---
Snow removal: In winter, while our plow service works hard to keep the driveway clear, we can’t guarantee it will be done first thing in the morning. A shovel is provided if you need to head out before the plow arrives. If a big storm is expected, we recommend parking closer to the top of the driveway if you need to leave before a plow gets there. Our snow removal crew may also come onto the deck in the morning to shovel, so you may see or hear them outside during your stay.

---
Please note we can never guarantee an amenity (such as the hot tub or sauna) is available during your stay. We do not issue refunds for amenities that are not working properly for factors beyond our control.
