Interaction with Guests
I enjoy having dinner with my guest whenever I can. There are also a few bars and restaurants in the neighborhood we can have a drink at.
As I work in the city, I am rarely home and when I am, you won't even notice my presence unless you're up for some social chat.
This is a beautiful neighborhood where you can meet a lot of Columbia students and locals at the different bars and restaurants.
From Chinese food to Italian, middle Eastern or Mexican, you'll enjoy a full array of amazing food. The building is clean and the super is very prompt to fix any issue. This is a safe neighborhood, patrolled by the NYPD almost every 3-5 mms.
I love to bike and whether you walk, bike, rollerblade or run, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Hudson River on the west side highway trail, all the way to Wall Street and the Financial District.
The subway is literally a block from the apartment. You can also catch 2 downtown buses right in front of the apartment. For the international traveler, if you book your flight to Laguardia Airport, the M60 will literally bring you straight from the airport to about 2 blocks from the apartment. For those flying to JFK, you can take the A train all the way to 125th Street and you'll be 4 blocks from the apartment.

Great location, near subway stop. Daniel was very friendly and helpful.
Yes, our host made us feel welcome. He looked much better than his photo but the room didn't. The room was somewhat shabby compared to the photo. It wasn't messy, just run down.
Thank you for your feedback.
I do disagree with your description of the room (you're the only person who complained about it) but I respect and value your opinion.
I am also a little confused about making it "clear" that the common area is there for the guests to use....? It's a common area and as such is available for both my guests and myself however, I make it a point to let my guests use it more than I do.
And finally, I do think a "Thank You" for the tickets I offered you at no charge to a performance at Carnegie Hall would have been nice.
Staying here was our first Airbnb experience, so we were a little apprehensive. Daniel accepted our request merely hours before we arrived, which we were grateful for. The bus from LaGuardia airport dropped us off just around the corner. Daniel greeted us on the stairs and helped us with our bags, despite not being particularly well (we hope you're fully recovered). The description for the listing was bang on. We didn't spend a lot of time in the accommodation, due the sheer amount of stuff to do in NYC, but it was perfectly adequate for our needs. I'm sure the mention of 'Harlem' would scare some people off, but we had no issues at all, even whilst dragging our suitcases through the streets at night. The listing was excellent for access to the Metro system at 125th Street (featured in 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'). Couldn't fault it at all. Staying here is an excellent base for a tourist in NYC.
Staying with Daniel was my first Airbnb experience and it was great. I had a three-day conference at Teachers College, Columbia University. Daniel's room truly is about two and a half blocks away--no more than a five minute walk. Daniel was a great host. My plane was late but he was up for my late arrival. Transportation from LaGuardia on the public bus was simple, as was taking the subway to Penn Station for my train home. The room was quiet (in the back of the building) and clean, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Because I was occupied from very early in the morning until late at night, I didn't get to spend much time talking with Daniel, but he was very helpful, warm and friendly. I would recommend his place to anyone who needs a convenient location close to Columbia.
I arrived in New York City on June 23rd around midnight. Where do I begin? Daniel was awesome, he woke up, although he had to be up the next morning very early and helped me bring all of my luggage upstairs. Despite having just woken up Daniel showed enthusiasm of me being there as well as introducing me to 'our' new pad.
I find it difficult in words to describe how awesome my stay with Daniel was, for one thing if you have google maps on your phone it won't be necessary as long as Daniel is around, he is a City map.
Daniel kept the home very clean and I enjoyed contributes. Daniel is also a phenomenal cook, so if you get the chance and he offers take it!
