Folan’s Cottage is a beautiful architecturally designed holiday home that was rebuilt in 2010 from two ruined stone cottages.

It is only a few meters from a wonderful quiet sandy beach, with views of the Twelve Bens and across the ocean to the Arann Islands. The setting is magical and remote with just rabbits, sheep and Connemara ponies as your neighbours.

I hate to let a secret out but Folan's Cottage is otherworldly. Do not pass up an opportunity to stay there.

The 'cottage' is absolutely beautiful. The location wonderful. We have been to Ireland 3 years consecutively now and the consensus is that nearby Clifden is our favorite village in Ireland. Nora , the lady who welcomes you and makes sure all is provided is absolutely wonderful.

Out of this world views especially if the sun shines, which we were fortunate to experience. Beautifully situated in almost the middle of no where!!! You were close enough to a small town if you needed human contact or a pub for a pint or two!!! I had a 10 year old and a 6 year old and they just loved the place especially the safe beaches and the rocks to climb on the beaches. I also had my elderly parents there too, one who likes solitude and to sit and admire the view and one who likes to walk. There was both of the above to keep them both happy. There were plenty of good walks appropriate for all fitness levels. Thank you Simon.

Folan's Cottage was an absolute dream to drive up to after taking the long & scenic route from Shannon Airport! From the ocean view, to the resident livestock (horses/sheep/cattle), to the rugged Connemara landscape, this house was the perfect location for a week away with my fiancé. Roundstone's town center and Clifden are a short drive away. We did most of our grocery shopping in Clifden's Supervalu (we much preferred this store over Clifden's Aldi). Simon was so wonderful about contacting us and providing recommendations, all of which we came to trust fully. He truly chose some top-notch spots! We especially enjoyed visiting Kylemore Abbey & gardens, Roundstone Pottery, O'Dowds Pub in Roundstone, and Ballynahinch Castle for lunch. Also, although Galway is about an hour away (beautiful drive!), we found that dining at Loam & Aniar was well worth the travel! The house is comfortable and as pictured (other than a few decorating additions). The kitchen was also easy to navigate and very convenient if you like to make coffee, cook breakfast, or have lunch/dinner at home. Overall, this house and its location (on the beach & in the Connemara) were beyond our expectations. We couldn't be happier!

This is the second time I've stayed here and it's still perfect! Amazing location and the house is as exactly as advertised. Definitely one of the most beautiful, serene places in Ireland.

We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay with our family walking through the surrounding stoney fields with the most friendly ponies, walks on the beach collecting seashells and bits of nature we found along the way. We loved the moving wall in the kitchen letting in the sea breeze as often as weather permitted. Simon's cottage was exactly what we were looking for during for: idyllic yet modern, with a touch of wild. Communication was excellent and the location absolutely a dream. We're already planning for our next trip back.
