🌲 A Few Things to Know
This is a home, not a hotel—and a truly special one at that. Tucked deep in the SoCal mountains and built in the 1960s as a classic mountain escape, this A-frame has a soul all its own. In fact, it was once the cherished retreat of Hollywood icon Bryan Cranston, who spent time here long before it became a shared space for guests like you. ✨
This cabin wasn’t designed for modern, full-time living—so yes, it comes with a few quirks. There are no closets in the bedrooms, no AC, some windows are single-pane, and the loft tends to be warmer than downstairs. But that’s exactly what makes it so magical. From its original mid-century bones to the creaks in the floor and the glow of the wood paneling at golden hour, this place invites you to slow down, unplug, and settle into a rhythm that’s quieter, simpler, and more soulful.
We’re surrounded by pine trees and wildlife, so don’t be surprised if a spider visits inside or a bear wanders past the yard. It’s all part of the mountain experience.
Thank you for appreciating the history, heart, and imperfections that make this place one-of-a-kind. You're now part of its story too.
Please Note About the Stairs:
Our home features a set of steep and somewhat narrow stairs leading to the front door and to the main living areas/bedrooms. While most guests navigate them without trouble, they may be challenging for anyone with mobility limitations, balance concerns, or very heavy luggage.
These stairs are part of the unique charm and character of the home—and they’re also what make the beautiful views possible. You can’t have the setting without the climb!
To ensure your comfort and safety:
✔ Guests with mobility challenges may find this listing unsuitable.
✔ Please take your time on the stairs and use the handrail.
✔ Consider packing lighter or bringing luggage that’s easier to manage on stairs. Feel free to reach out with any questions before booking.

🐜 Critters & Nature’s Guests
Life in the mountains comes with fresh air, stunning views—and the occasional critter. While the cabin is professionally cleaned after each stay and we use humane pest control methods, it's still possible for a bug or small woodland visitor to wander inside now and then. If you're bug-wary, just a heads-up: nature sometimes says hello!
Insects such as ants, mosquitoes, and others may be present on the property, and guests are expected to take the necessary steps to protect themselves. Guests must not harm the land, wildlife, or natural habitats in any way. The Treehouse A-Frame cabin is not liable for any personal injury related to wildlife or insect encounters. Refunds will not be issued for unexpected visits from nature’s smaller residents.
Just to be clear: seeing bugs or critters—inside or outside the home—is a possibility in this mountain setting. If that’s a dealbreaker for you, this may not be the right fit. We’re unable to offer refunds for this reason.
🐾 Wildlife Awareness
The Southern California mountains are home to a diverse range of wildlife, including bears, coyotes, snakes, scorpions, rodents, raptors, and spiders. While we’ve never had any issues, we encourage guests to stay aware of their surroundings and take standard precautions—especially when enjoying the outdoors or leaving food unattended. Your safety (and that of your loved ones) is our top priority!

❄️ Snow & Winter Access
We schedule snow removal before your arrival, but if you arrive during active snowfall—or it snows while you're here—you may need to clear your own parking spot. Don’t worry, it’s all part of the mountain adventure! We provide plenty of shovels so you’re well-equipped.
Important: Street parking is strictly prohibited during winter months due to plow routes, so please plan accordingly and do not park on the street.
🚗 Chain Requirements (Winter Travel)
During snowy conditions, tire chains may be required to access Running Springs—regardless of your vehicle type. If you're booking a winter stay, please come prepared and check weather and road conditions before heading up the mountain.
We recommend visiting the Caltrans website or calling 1-800-427-ROAD for the latest updates. Safety first, adventure second!

Thank you for booking & thus agreeing to honor San Bernardino County's and The A-frame's House Rules.
Before check-in, you’ll receive a request to submit a security deposit and to review and sign the house rules. These steps must be completed to finalize your reservation.
By proceeding with your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted all rental policies outlined here. You also acknowledge that signing the Good Neighbor Policy and providing valid, current government-issued ID are required to secure your stay.
🚫 Children
While we love kids, the Treehouse A-Frame is not safe or suitable for infants or children under the age of 12. Children must never be left unattended on the property at any time. Parents, guardians, and caregivers are fully responsible for the safety, behavior, and supervision of any children in their group during the stay, regardless of age, while on the rental property.
♿ Accessibility Note
While we want everyone to enjoy their time in the mountains, please note that this cabin may not be suitable for small children or guests who have difficulty with stairs or uneven terrain. Access to the front door requires climbing both 44 concrete and wooden steps, and the interior includes a staircase to the loft. The property also features multiple levels and steps to reach outdoor areas, including the backyard.
If you have any questions about accessibility or need help determining if this space is the right fit, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to assist however we can!
Just to be clear: seeing wildlife—inside or outside the property—is a possibility in this mountain setting. If that’s a dealbreaker for you, this may not be the right fit. The Treehouse A-Frame is not liable for any personal injury related to wildlife or animal encounters. Refunds will not be issued for unexpected visits from nature’s residents.
