Our one-bedroom, guest house with kitchenette is just three blocks from the Pacific in Santa Barbara's best beach neighborhood, the Mesa. Enjoy a short walk to three beautiful parks or great shops and restaurants. Downtown is just five minutes' drive. We have wireless internet and cable TV.
Enjoy a relaxing stay in our private, comfortable, well-appointed guesthouse. You enter through the front door into a large sitting room with a well-equipped kitchen. There's a full stove and oven, a mini fridge, and everything you'll need for coffee and tea or to cook for yourself if you'd like. The sitting room has a daybed (single) with a trundle bed that pulls out from underneath. The daybed serves as a sofa when not used for sleeping. Going through the sitting room, you enter an inviting bedroom with a beautiful knotty pine tongue-in-groove ceiling. There is a full-size futon bed with a very new high-quality inner-spring mattress. Adjacent to the bedroom is a full bath with tub if you really need to unwind. There is an intimate sitting area outside the entrance door.
The guest house is completely yours for your stay. It's at the rear of our property and lies about 20 ft from the back of our main house across our patio. There is ample street parking in front. Guests have access to our washer and dryer if needed. Guests are welcome to borrow our tandem kayak.
Guests will have as much privacy as they wish, though we are likely to encounter each other across our back patio, and are happy to recommend the best that Santa Barbara has to offer. We will typically be home during guests' stay.
Our neighborhood, the Mesa, sits right on the Pacific Ocean. It's a quiet residential neighborhood offering everything you could want, without all the tourists. Our street ends at the cliffs above the beach about a 1/4 mile down the street. There is a beautiful overlook at the end of the next street and there are steps down the cliff to the beach just a couple streets over. If you catch it at the right time, you'll see Grey Whales cruising past. Dolphins and seals are pretty common sights. There are three beautiful parks an easy walk from the house, all with stunning views of the ocean. There are also grocery stores, coffee shops, and several great bars and restaurants just a 5 - 10 minute walk away.
You can pick up the number 5 bus line just at the end of the block that will take you to the harbor and downtown.
Chris rides a road bike and can point cyclists in the direction of great rides in the area. Cheri knows the great walking routes from the house and can recommend two excellent yoga studios.
This place was perfect for my family. Everything we needed right there and an amazing location. The cottage was adorable and extremely clean and I'm a neat freak! The hosts were very responsive and made sure we were comfortable. Highly recommend and if we find ourselves back in Santa Barbara we would love to stay there again! Thx, Chris & Cheri!
We stayed at La Casita for 5 nights and it was Amazing!!! This is an adorable back house in an extremely quiet neighborhood with lovely little birds singing in the morning. We loved it! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is perfectly located to everything, the bed(s) are comfortable, nice kitchen, bath and shower, and it's close to a beautiful beach where we took long walks in the afternoon. Chris and Cheri were very nice hosts and stocked the cottage with tea, coffee and yogurt as well as little things you might need and forget to bring like bathroom supplies. We would definitely stay again in our dream cottage on the beach in Santa Barbara. Thanks again for having us at your house for the week!
Perfect ! Very good welcome. It's very nice studio, good amenities and clean. We recommend it without hesitation.
My wife Sharon and I recently had the pleasure of staying with Chris and Cheri in their guesthouse. The house was a perfect size for us. The bedroom, spacious bath, sitting room and kitchen were clean and comfortable.
The stairway to the beach a few blocks away has to be one of my favorite attractions in Santa Barbra. You can walk down the beach to discover a remarkable restaurant on the water there you can enjoy eggs benedict on crab cakes for your breakfast.
I can recommend these thoughtful host to you as you plan your trip to Santa Barbra the wine country with all it’s pleasures.
Chris and Cheri's Santa Barbara casita was peaceful, private and well-stocked! It added to our weekend getaway to celebrate our first anniversary. We really loved the kitchen and nice bathroom, along with the private outdoor patio...where we enjoyed evening wine time! We briefly met Chris and Cheri and they were very friendly and accommodating. Thank you both for opening your guest house to us!
My daughter, her friend and I stayed at Cheri and Chris's place, for a college visit at UC Santa Barbara. It was very nice, close to the beach, restaurants and shopping on State Street. The unit is nicely appointed, and the outside seating came in handy.. Cheri and Chris were very friendly and accommodating.
We stayed here for two nights while visiting my sister. This is a sweet little cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is well appointed, the bed is comfortable, nice kitchen, bath and shower, and it's a short walk to a beautiful beach where I saw dolphins. Chris and Cheri were very hospitable and stocked the cottage with tea, coffee and fruit as well as little things you might need and forget to bring like ear plugs. We would definitely stay again when we return to Santa Barbara.
We loved the cottage! It was the perfect location in a nice quiet neighborhood but walking distance to the beach and a short drive (or long walk) to stores, restaurants, etc. We will definitely book here again on future visits to Santa Barbara!
Even that we came later than we announced Chris and Cheri were very nice and helpful. Their Casita was big enough for us four to enjoy our stay in Santa Barbara and have a rest after our trips. It´s close to beach where we saw one of the most beautiful sunset looking at surfers and enjoying the sea and big waves. We would definitely come back again.
Our second stay at La Casita did not disappoint. Quiet evenings without traffic roaring by or suitcases drug down the hallway at every hour of the night as it would be in a hotel.
Three of us enjoyed our stay on this visit as we were in Santa Barbara for the wedding of a friend. Two slept comfortably in the bedroom and a third on the sofa bed in the main area. Mornings were enjoyed out on the sunny patio with fresh brewed coffee which, by the way, is fantastic!
I'd strongly encourage a jog/run to and down the Mesa steps. About 4 blocks from La Casita, the steps take you down to a wonderful beach and views of the islands.
We're looking forward to future weekends at La Casita.
