About This Listing
Our 1-bedroom guesthouse with kitchenette is in Santa Barbara's best beach neighborhood, the Mesa. A short walk to the beach, three beautiful parks, or great shops and restaurants. Downtown is just five minutes' drive. Enjoy wifi and cable TV.
Enjoy a relaxing stay in our private, comfortable, well-appointed guesthouse. You enter through the front door into a large sitting room with a well-equipped kitchen. There's a full stove and oven, a mini fridge, and everything you'll need for coffee and tea or to cook for yourself if you'd like. The sitting room has a daybed (single). The daybed serves as a sofa when not used for sleeping. Going through the sitting room, you enter an inviting bedroom with a beautiful knotty pine tongue-in-groove ceiling. There is a full-size futon bed with a very new high-quality inner-spring mattress. Adjacent to the bedroom is a full bath with tub if you really need to unwind. There is an intimate sitting area outside the entrance door.
The guest house is completely yours for your stay. It's at the rear of our property and lies about 20 ft from the back of our main house across our patio. There is ample street parking in front. Guests have access to our washer and dryer if needed. Guests are welcome to borrow our tandem kayak.
Interaction with Guests
Guests will have as much privacy as they wish, though we are likely to encounter each other across our back patio, and are happy to recommend the best that Santa Barbara has to offer. We will typically be home during guests' stay.
Our neighborhood, the Mesa, sits right on the Pacific Ocean. It's a quiet residential neighborhood offering everything you could want, without all the tourists. Our street ends at the cliffs above the beach about a 1/4 mile down the street. There is a beautiful overlook at the end of the next street and there are steps down the cliff to the beach just a couple streets over. If you catch it at the right time, you'll see Grey Whales cruising past. Dolphins and seals are pretty common sights. There are three beautiful parks an easy walk from the house, all with stunning views of the ocean. There are also grocery stores, coffee shops, and several great bars and restaurants just a 5 - 10 minute walk away.
You can pick up the number 5 bus line just at the end of the block that will take you to the harbor and downtown.
Other Things to Note
Chris rides a road bike and can point cyclists in the direction of great rides in the area. Cheri knows the great walking routes from the house and can recommend two excellent yoga studios.
Sorry, no pets and no smoking. It's a quiet neighborhood so we're grateful if guests socialize indoors after 10 PM and are sensitive about noise as they come and go from the guesthouse.
Awesome place and great hosts. Very clean, quiet and central to everything!
The neighborhood was great. Close walking distance to the beach and shopping.
I put my parents up here for 2 nights while they were in town. They are in their upper 70's and this place was perfect. Chris and Cheri were very warm and took extra special care of them. My parents left their extra-special ingredient for Tiramisu at the studio and Cheri made sure it got back to us. Disaster averted!
If you're planning the Californian coast, Santa Barbara is a must and La Casita may also be your choice. The house fits a small family very well, communication with Chris & Cheri was very easy and we also enjoyed being on a nice/quiet neighboorhood. Too bad the stay was short, but we'd definitely recommend the place. Tks Chris and Cheri, contact us if you ever decide to come to Brazil.
La Casita was the perfect place for an extended Santa Barbara weekend. The space worked wonderfully for two people, one in the bedroom, and one on the daybed in the living area. It would work just as well with two in the bedroom. There is spacious closet area, the bathroom is nicely up to date. The neighborhood is wonderful, a five minute walk takes you to beach access, and five minutes in the other direction takes you to a shopping center for groceries, also a fresh bagel bakery (really great for breakfasts, and other sundry items. There is also a wonderful restaurant in that shopping area, Mesa Verde, our host Chris suggested it to us and it was really wonderful and very unique. The only thing that could have made our stay easier was to have a toaster in La Casita, so we could toast our own bagels! Other than that the kitchen is equipped if you want to cook in rather than eat out. We would definitely stay at La Casita again!

Chris cycles and Cheri walks and does yoga. Diana loves the gym. We look forward to introducing guests to the area and then leaving you free to explore while you're here.
