The name Donegal comes from the Irish 'Dun na nGall' meaning fort of the foreigner. Ireland's most northerly county has little in common with its neighbours in the Republic, either geographically or historically. Donegal's supreme appeal lies in the natural beauty of its coast, with windswept peninsulas, precipitous cliffs and a host of golden beaches that rival any in Europe.
What a wonderful place to stay and what a wonderful family. Aine was very responsive to my initial inquiry and then sent two cars out to make sure I made it to her place (which was not hard to find…it was just along the main road). The beds were incredibly comfortable and she was very hospitable. Very clean linens, towels, fluffy comforters and all the little extras. She was always available for any questions I had and directed me to a great local restaurant (The Lobster Pot…delicious) and made sure I made it in time to eat.
Aine offered a complete list of breakfast items and at any time that was convenient to me. She was happy to discuss any questions I had about the history and culture of the area. I would highly recommend for anyone to stay there. It is centrally located and very quiet, yet close to town. It was perfect home to go back and feel welcome in. I can hardly wait to get back there again.
She is a wonderful and warming host. She puts a lot of effort into her listing and you can feel it the minute you arrive. You'll have everything you need and you won't muss out on anything. I very much recommend this place to everyone!!!
We had a pleasant stay with Aine. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast set us up for the day! There was a pressure problem with the shower which I am sure Aine will resolve soon.
The location is nice and quiet, set back from the road some way. If you plan on having a few drinks on the town, you need to call a taxi which Aine will help you with. There were no bars/restaurants withing walking distance.
The room had heating, which we turned off because it was very warm. the room has many windows to let the breeze through which was great. You will be able to stay here comfortably all year round.
We have been nicely welcomed, everything was perfect, nice place and nice environment, good food, Aine did cook for us the fish we had caught in the sea, will come again.
