The Space

Old world meets new in this huge 700 SF studio, fully renovated in 2011. Studio has a separate entrance in a 1903 brownstone townhouse located in the heart of historic Harlem. Exposed brick, brand new modern kitchen and marble bathroom are just a few amenities of this amazingly cozy property. It is ideal for both, short or long term stay.

This amazing apartment is located in a splendidly cool neighborhood. You will immediately feel that unique old New York vibe in an area that is safe, and getting more and more internationally diverse. It is simply loved by the Europeans! Selecting this apartment will allow you to feel New York with all its history. A great convenient location will let you enjoying a very unique and quiet neighborhood feel in the middle of New York city, while being 15 minutes train ride from the Midtown.

Surrounding Area.

This is a special opportunity to live on a beautiful landmarked residential block steps to 2/3 train, 2 parks (Central Park and Marcus Garvey Park), the new celebrity chiefs’ Red Rooster and Settepani restaurants and Caffe Latte coffee shop on the corner of the street.

The whole area around Marcus Garvey Park captures the authentic energy that is exclusive to Harlem. Featuring free open-air jazz concerts in the summer, it truly represents the spirit of this part of the city. There are many jazz places in the area, the legendary Lenox Lounge just being 3 short blocks away, and the house itself literally being adjacent to the former house of Hammerstein, the famous Broadway composer.

The studio is fully furnished and can sleep up to 4 people. The layout and design of the studio allow master queen size bed to be fully separated from the living and dining spaces. The pull-up sofa is convertible into another queen size bed.

It has a large bathroom and generous closet space.

It is truly unusual, spacious and charming studio apartment.

Available for short (3+ nights) or medium (several weeks) stay.

  • We visited Julie's flat at NY holidays. The apartment is exactly like you see in the pictures. It's a great open and inviting space. The only minus it wasn't as clean as we used to, but we decided not to bother Julie and cleaned it by ourselves, the supermarket is near so we bought all we needed. The building is really nice, close to metro and some cool restaurants, such as Barawine for exhample. It takes 15 minutes to reach the center of the city by different subway lines that situated not far from each other. I recommend this flat as you'll enjoy your time in NYC.

  • Great location, very close to express subway, a lovely park and the shops and restos of Harlem. The area is very safe - it's a lovely street and we felt very safe walking around at night.
The apartment is a cute lower ground floor which makes great use of space. There were three of us staying (my wife, my 2-yr old daughter and me) and we had plenty of room. Full kitchen if you want to eat in, (although we only used it once as we ate out most nights!). Very warm too (while it was pretty cold in New York when we stayed), and also quiet - we didn't hear the other neighbours.

Check in was very smooth - Julie's niece Margo met us and was very friendly and helpful about the local area. We arrived early in the city and Margo was kind enough to move up our check in time.

No hesitation in recommending this place..

  • Julies apartment is exactly like you see in the pictures. It's a great open and inviting space. Location wise, it was perfect for us to get around all of New York.

She had a great kitchen and enough bedding for the 4 of us that stayed at her place. There's a laundromat very close to her place as well.

She coordinated a smooth check in and check out procedure for us. Our friends who stayed with us were Airbnbing for the first time and they loved the experience.

Thank you for the great stay!

  • Beautiful comfortable stay on the lower floor of a historic Harlem brownstone. The place was open and spacious with view to the tree lined street and picturesque brownstones. It easily accommodated our party of 3 with the sofabed and bed and would be a spacious stay for even more. Beautifully renovated space with bathub, A/C, TV, and wi-fi the only con was no laundry facilities. Close walking distance to shops, park, and 2,3,4,5,&6 lines. Had a great breakfast at the nearby Il Caffe Latte coffee shop. Julie was very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend for a great stay in NYC!

  • My wife our two daughters and I stayed in the apartment for a weekend visit to NYC. Much to our satisfaction, there were no surprises during our stay. Julie was there to meet us upon our arrival as planned, the apartment was very nice and clean, and Julie made sure that we had everything that we needed. I would recommend this apartment to those who are looking for a nice place to stay in the area.

  • Julie was a perfect host! We arrived on check in and she gave us the tour and our keys, along with the best advice on Jazz places and grocery shopping. The place is safe and the street feels safe as well. Very close to public transport. Everything is perfectly equipped and super clean! We had a perfect stay.
Plus: the appartment is on an old turn of the (20th) century Brownstone, which is in a street full of similar dwellings. The historic experience is an added value for us looking for a more traditional experience and who appreciate the value of staying in old, traditional buildings full of history and stories. Would definitively stay again!
Cons: we slept very late most days, not only because the sunrise kept coming later, but also because the curtains make the room dark. Very nice to sleep in on a dark room, but takes away daylight hours from experiencing New York. Not really a con, but I have to try to be fair. Still, would definitely pick this place for our next NYC trip.

  • Me and my family stayed at Julie's apartment for a week in October. The place is really pretty, cozy and clean. The neighbourhood was nice and the subway was just 4 blocks away. There were nice restaurants, grocery stores, cafes and a laundry service right next to us.
This was my first time using airb'n'b and the experience was great, nothing to complain about really!
Thanks for providing us with great pillows and everything else Julie!
