Stunning art-filled loft apartment just off New Haven Green, 5 minute walk to Yale campus. Open floor plan with huge living room, modern gourmet kitchen, jacuzzi tub, Jerusalem limestone shower. Perfect for 2, can sleep 2 more as needed. No pets.
This is the only building of its kind in downtown New Haven, a perfect spot for parents visiting their children or those making a weekend in this charming college town. The loft is a converted department store from the early 20th century - high ceilings, brick walls, arched entries. We have a very extensive collection of art, most by artists that we know and collect avidly. It's classic loft - all open spaces, with huge windows facing west overlooking the city. 1/2 block from the New Haven Green.
The place is all yours - gourmet kitchen, several seating areas, space for two additional guests on a futon.
You will have the entire space entirely to yourselves during your visit. We are available by cell / email to answer any questions.
Ninth Square is the vibrant center of downtown New Haven, filled with the city's best restaurants, art galleries, a great jazz club, and a bevy of nightclubs. It's also a thriving residential neighborhood, with an excellent gourmet market. 5 minutes walk to Yale, 10 minutes walk to historic Wooster Square. Yale's art galleries are among the best small museums in the world, with extraordinary collections in architecturally significant buildings.
Walking distance to both New Haven train stations - Union Station is a 10-minute-walk, or a 5-minute cab ride. The downtown State Street station is open at commuter hours only, infrequently otherwise - a 3 minute walk from the flat. There is a Hertz car rental agency around the corner. There is no parking in the building, but there is an open-air lot directly behind us. They charge $15/day, but one can come and go throughout the day for this fee.
2-night minimum for weekend stays - Friday / Saturday or Saturday / Sunday.
A real 'Cabinet of Wonder' in oversize! As hopefully returning visiting teachers at Yale Art School – we know already where we wanna stay next time...

It's hard to add anything to all the rave reviews without being redundant, except that the place is huge and even nicer than the photos. The word 'guest' is not just a euphemism here. Jack really made us feel like his personal guests. We feel like this will be our home-away-from-home whenever we come to New Haven.
What an amazing apartment! Comfortable, enormous and filled with a lifetime collection of artworks. Jack was incredibly helpful. Very highly recommended.
We came to visit our daughter at Yale, and absolutely loved this fabulous place, and so did she! Beautiful, spacious and unique, and located very conveniently with respect to the college. Jack and Bruce were gracious hosts and very accommodating to us. We look forward to coming back!
Walking into Jack's loft is like walking into a museum. The walls boast exquisite painting and artwork. The book shelves lined with books from architecture and history to philosophy and world travels. The living room is set up in a manner that facilitates great, relaxed conversations for hours. Key hand off was easy and Jack had the most comprehensive visitors guide of any Airbnb that I've stayed in. Jack was a true delight and I definitely plan to stay here again!
This is a truly remarkable destination, featuring a wonderful art collection hung salon-style throughout the loft. Jack is a most gracious and generous host and his home reflects this - an inspirational context for stimulating and thoughtful conversations.
Jack is a very gracious host. He’s easy to communicate with and provided us with wonderful recommendations and guidance to his favorite restaurants and sites. His loft is beautiful, easy and comfortable. We left feeling inspired, nurtured, refreshed and extremely lucky to have found airbnb and Jack! We're in New Haven yearly visiting family and hope to stay at Jack's again and again.
A unusual, and beautiful, apartment that is it urgent to discover in Downtown New Haven. Actually it is a Aladdin’s Cave for art amateurs and book-lovers, what means a lot to me. This is indeed a guest house designed for welcoming guests and friends. Despite the very short time of my stay, I experienced a memorable atmosphere. Thanks to Jack for sharing his lair !
One Word: Breathtaking!
I was looking for a place to stay in New Haven that would become a part of my experience with Yale, Music & Art, History and Gastronomy of this beautifully diverse city! Jack's property encompasses all of this and more! The exhibition of art on his walls, his extensive book collection, the gourmet Chef's kitchen and his warm welcome made my stay in New Haven unforgettable! The loft is exceptional, Jack responds to all your questions immediately, check in was straight forward with ease and I would recommend any guests who are looking to stay in New Haven to book with Jack.
I look forward to staying at this property again!
