About this listing
Our modern yet cosy flat is in a quiet side street five minutes away from Cowley Road, it comfortably sleeps two, and if you have a young child you can make use of our nursery. Take advantage of our parking space and private garden too!
Our flat is the top one of three. We're listing it as a one bedroom flat because the second bedroom is actually a nursery with a cot, which if you have a little one with you, you are welcome to use, just please let us know beforehand so we can get it ready for you. The master bedroom has a king-size double bed and a chest of drawers you can use.
It's located in East Oxford only five minutes walk away from the bustling Cowley road and 20 minutes walk from the city centre, or you could catch a bus and be there in five! At the end of our street (two minutes stumbling distance) we have one of the best pubs in Oxford, and a little further round the corner are two of the best places to eat in Oxford... one of which being the acclaimed Magdalen Arms.
- Nursery in second bedroom
- Large private garden
- 20 minute walk to Oxford city centre
- Excellent local pub 2 mins away
- Great East Oxford location
- Fresh towels and bed linen
- Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner
- Hair dryer
- Steam iron
- Tea, coffee, sugar
- Free high-speed Wi-fi internet

You'll have our whole flat to yourselves, you won't be entering an "empty box", all of our belongings will be there, and you'll be free to treat the place as your own... read our books, drink our tea, in-fact you can use everything in the kitchen, even use our retro typewriter if you feel like it!
There are three parking spaces at the front of the building, ours is the one on the right, which you can use for the duration of your stay. This is actually a real advantage because all the streets this close to the city centre require a residents permit.
Please make use of our garden, it's quite a tranquil spot to sit and have a drink.
Interaction with Guests
We live in this flat and only rent it out whilst we're away on holiday, so we won't be there to greet you, instead we have a key safe next to the front door which we will give you the code to once you have made a reservation. Any problems just give me a call.
East Oxford is a really great place to be, there is so much going on and lots of places to eat and drink.
The following pub's/cafe's/restaurant's are all very good, and within 15 minutes walk..

There are also some great walks you can do...
If you walk up Iffley Road (away from city centre) then turn right on to Donnington Bridge Road, you will reach the Thames. You can then turn right and walk 20 minutes along the river to go to the city centre, or you can turn left and walk for 5 minutes along the river to reach the Isis (beautiful pub with a large garden, open from Thursday to Sunday)
There is a regular bus service from Cowley Road, just five minutes walk away, from here you can get to many places including the town centre, bus station and train station.
No smoking or pets.
Barry was a friendly host, leaving us tips about the local area and very friendly in all his communications. The flat was a bit smaller than we had anticipated, but was conveniently located for the centre of town. Arriving fairly late with two tired grumpy babies though, it wasn't a great start to find that the nursery hadn't been prepared for our twins, but Barry has since apologised for his omission.
The apartment served its purpose, but I'm not sure we'd stay there again.
Flat as described, offered us a very relaxed overnight stay we can recommend Rusty Bicycle pub/restaurant. Booked accommodation last minute, no hitches, good communication clear instructions, parking space made it easy, bed comfortable we had lovely time thanks
Excellent location. Flat exactly as described and seen in the pictures. Booked at the last minute and received quickly correspondence from Barry. We had a lovely stay. Would highly recommend. Thank you.
I really enjoyed my stay at Barry's flat. There's a Sainsbury's and a bus stop a stones throw away, as well as lots of nice places to eat and drink. Barry had also left a bunch of brochures and suggestions of places to visit. The house itself is cosy and quiet, and Barry was a really great host, emailing me before our trip to make sure I knew where to go/ how to get into the flat etc. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!
Our trip to Oxford for a friend's wedding was made all the more enjoyable by our stay at Barry's wonderful flat. Simple to find and it was a huge benefit that parking was available in front of the property. We had made contact with Barry and he provided information about entering the flat and once inside we found extra local info and guides which were a great help (sadly, we didn't have time to visit the watering holes recommended).
The flat is extremely homely and has everything that you could wish for when visiting such a great city which is just a 15-20 minute walk away. Plenty of supermarkets nearby as well as the lively Cowley Road which has some great shops and hidden gems.
I'd thoroughly recommend the property and would like to thank Barry once again for being a great host and allowing us to stay in his home.
The flat was very nice and big. Relatively close to the city centre. It took us around 20 min to get there. The area is very nice and friendly with a lot of places to eat or to hang out.
You have a Sansbury's very close too, so you can buy some food and cook it.
The only thing that was a bit off is that it was cold during the first night. Later the flat warmed up and it all ok.
About the Host, Barry
I love being outdoors and exploring, usually mountain biking or hiking with friends. But afterwards there's nothing better than a few beers in a good pub... and fortunately there's plenty of them around here!
